Hey boffle...give yourself a Boffy for that new icon...it makes me so happy just looking at it!! :D
And of course...go Team House at the Emmys next weekend! I'm pulling for Hugh so hard that it makes me forget about the other awards sometimes...which is totally wrong and I'm sorry...but damn he's gotta win!
Edit...oh and iamdaffodils...your icon is the face I'm gonna make if (WHEN) Hugh wins next Sunday. :D
If/when Hugh wins Sunday, I won't know whether to laugh, scream, cry or all of the above! I'm with ya hughsblues - I would love to see the show win, but Hugh winning is first and foremost. Not only cause he so deserves it and is overdue, but Jo and some of the kids will probably be in attendance, and maybe, hope, hope Stephen too. So it would be just perfect. And then if somehow the show could win too, and Hugh and the whole cast would get to go up on stage and celebrate. If that could happen - Best. Emmys. Ever. Hey, a girl can dream :)

Thanks hughsblues! All credit goes to the model for being the sweetest sweetie ever. Actually, just looking at all the avatars around here you get a pretty good idea of the range HL has on tap. Ah what a golden week: the Leno, S5E1 and then the Emmys! Yahoo!

Well, I must admit that I will not watch the show live because...
I'm so excited about that, I don't want to be sitting there in front of my TV, writhing with anxiety, no, I don't have the guts. I'll visit HHOW the morning after and read your posts. If he wins, I'll watch the reruns showing the event's highlights, if he doesn't... I refuse to think of it now. Silly girl, I am, really.

Oh, Bewitched, I'm exactly the same. I couldn't stand the tension, and most of all couldn't stand watching Hugh lose (he won't , he WON'T LOSE  ). I really enjoy reading the "live thread" afterwards.

When does the Emmy show start on Sunday? I may have to end up taping it. I'm praying for a triple crown win for House, Hugh, and Greg (the director who's last name I won't attempt to butcher).
I can live with House not winning an Emmy, even though I think the show totally deserves it, but House is a different kind of show and there are a lot of high quality dramas out there, but, yeah, it's about time Hugh wins one, and I can't say enough about the direction that was done for House's Head. I'm really, really hoping/praying for the latter two to win.

On ABC, 8pm eastern & pacific.
Glenn Close was announced as a presenter today. I kinda hope she presents with Hugh. Hey, ABC is part of Disney (or is it the other way around?) and 101 Dalmatians was just re-released...it could happen :)
Boffle- 09-17-2008
And it would be a good luck charm for both, just like Geena and Hugh at the Golden Globes. :-)
iamdaffodils- 09-17-2008
E! News just showed where some of the stars will be sitting and Hugh will be on the first row. I got really excited thinking that might mean something...for about 5 whole seconds until I remembered that he was sitting on a row in front of the stage last year too. It was a really happy 5 seconds though.

The presenters usually sit in the front.

Goldderby racetrack odds and commentary on why James Spader will win his 4th Emmy Sunday night. It's early morning, but I already need a drink.
BEST DRAMA SERIES
"Mad Men" - 5/4
"Damages" - 7/5
"Lost" - 8/1
"House" - 9/1
"Dexter" - 10/1
"Boston Legal" - 50/1
BEST DRAMA ACTOR
James Spader, "Boston Legal" - 2/1
Jon Hamm, "Mad Men" - 11/5
Hugh Laurie, "House" - 13/5
Michael C. Hall, "Dexter" - 8/1
Bryan Cranston, "Breaking Bad" - 8/1
Gabroe; Byrne, "In Treatment" - 35/1
predixeta - If someone could please explain to me why House being an unlikeable character is given every year as a reason why Hugh won't win. Was Tony Soprano likable? And I'm sure others that I can't think of right now. That theory just totally escapes me for several reasons. I'm going to have a second drink now.
galaxygirl- 09-18-2008
I totally need to put money on BL winning best drama.
radiosweetheart- 09-18-2008
Do those numbers make sense to other people? Because only Boston Legal seems like a number comparison that I understand.
Does Mad Men's 5/4 mean that 5 times out of 4 it'll win? By that logic House would win 9 times out of 1.
I don't get it.
BTW-no James Spader hate if he wins. It's not his fault he's an Emmy voting committee wowing motherjumper. It's just the way he is.
galaxygirl- 09-18-2008
I think that for every dollar you put in(second number), you receive the first number. So 5/4 for Mad Men means that if you put in 4 dollars, show wins, you get 5 dollars. So with the 50/1 for Boston Legal, if that show wins and these are real odds, you make some decent money.
I second the no Spader hate, please.

Math was never my strength, so I won't even tax my brain with figuring out how they arrived at those odds.
But I also cannot understand the reasoning that keeps popping up that House being a prickly, unlikeable character is what keeps Hugh from an Emmy win. There are other reasons that have been discussed here (no podium thumping speeches, etc).
The complex, interesting characters are often not likeable at first glance. Even Hamm's character on MM is not warm and fuzzy. Isn't making that type of character someone the audience cares about the definition of solid acting?
Sorry for the early morning rant!
galaxygirl- 09-18-2008
IMO, Alan Shore isn't always very likable. He can be even nastier than House if he wants to be. We'll be able to tell what the voters think about 'unlikable' characters if Michael Emerson wins his very deserved Emmy.
I have to admit that HL isn't my favorite to win, he's not even my second favorite. I'll go hide now.
