For some reason my mind keeps wandering to that scene in Mommie Dearest when Joan Crawford trots out Christina and Christopher for the Oscars.
Good old Mommie Dearest. Maybe I should watch it for the 50 billionth time.
ETA: This Dateline special is reaching new heights of unnecessary.
I was wondering if they might do something like that too. I hope they do so that the winners can at least give their speeches. Hopefully they'll have a camera crew in London, just in case. Fingers still crossed for a three-peat despite the odds.
I suspect that if he wins, one of the shows will at least try to get him on the phone, but I'd be surprised to see more.
I think it would be very cool if they would create a website for such a thing. It doesn't have to be video speeches or *only* video speeches, it could be little written blogs, videos, photos, whatever. They could get a decent amount of web traffic and it would be nice to give the actors a place to offer thanks and speak however they want. I have no idea who is going to win and for all I know it could be the most ungrateful group of assholes the globes have ever seen, but for the most part it seems that there are plenty of nominees who seem a little bummed that they aren't going to get to celebrate with their friends and would probably like the chance to speak. Naturally, they can do that to any of the infotainment shows or on their own websites, but an official site would be a nice place to dump it all.
Anyway, I'm listening to the Dateline special while doing other things and it's decent enough if you're interested in the actors. The only one I've stopped to watch was Denzel, but it's all right. The opening featured a quick clip of Hugh and a clip of Hugh as House. Beyond that, there shouldn't be anything else related to him or the show included.

It's just the usual, imo. I don't see anything different from the usual pre-awards interview shows that they tend to do. This one just happens to be on in place of the awards instead of in days leading up to the awards. I think the saving grace is that they didn't just throw it together at the last minute.
One weird thing to note: Chris Hansen interviews Shatner which just feels very, very wrong in some way.
Jon Hamm just won for Mad Men.
Jon Hamm just won for Mad Men.
Whoa. I really thought it would be Michael C. Hall.
Alas, Jon Hamm was really, really excellent so kudos to him. And I really wish this were televised---I'd be interested to see what kind of speech he'd make.

Me too. Kind of feel bad for Michael C. Hall - he's been predicted to win by most of the experts for 2 years in a row now.
But Duchovny just won!
Off topic but David Duchovny won :D

(I just had to do another series in the other direction!)
Watch either CNN (if you can stand Larry King's inane comments) or E! if you want to get the winners right away. NBC is behind.
eta - bailey - don't hurt yourself!!!!! Has he won a GG before?
Wow. I have no idea what I've missed since I flipped from NBC to TV about eight minutes into it and even though I *just* missed Hugh's category by a second it's definitely worth it to get away from that nonsense and over to the talking heads who are being a bit more professional *and* human instead of blabbering on. I'll take a hundred Dayna Devan's over one Billy Bush.
And, wow again. Johnny Depp? Awesome.

Seconding that! Would have loved to have seen that acceptance speech along with Duchovny's.

Larry King is the worst. OMG.
Yes, DD won a GG back in '95 or '96 for X-Files. But it's been a long, long decade drought. Le sigh.
What won best TV drama?
FYI. eonline.com is live streaming the show too.
ETA - tv drama hasn't been announced according to the eonline score card.

Yeah, the winners so far have mostly been folks that would have given awesome speeches. Or, at least, entertaining speeches.
Wow. "Mad Men" won.
Sorry guys, gotta do this again:
MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN! MAD MEN!
I'm getting dizzy.
Daniel Day-Lewis!!!!!! Lary King - please STFU!!!!!
