#4 was Colin Firth in that hello poll. I would have had no problem with #1, #3 or #4 winning but I love that Hugh did. I wonder if the PCA awards will be around long if they don't show the winners because they are on rival networks. IF that was the case (and the numbers support it) then I'm even less interested in them.

Why televise Lisa winning, and no one else? Strange. Anyway, I only watched a few of my favs winning: Conan, Jane Lynch, NPH. Skipped the rest.

It's a popularity contest and only among a small segment of the audience at that. I have a hard time imagining many people in a retirement community voting. But this is a business in which popularity is important in determining an actor's or a program's worth so I'm very glad that House, Hugh and Lisa won. (My guess is, having won it before, Hugh didn't care in the least whether he won or not.) little better than an Internet site "award" based on the number of clicks someone gets Speaking of which, Hello Magazine's Most Attractive Celebrity of the Year voting is over. #1 Hugh Laurie - 110,822 #2 Gerrard Butler - 66,643 #3 David Tennant - 33,267 I know I cast about a dozen votes over the course of the month. Which one of you cast the other 110,800? The award might not mean diddly squat to Hugh but he is a consummate professional and always shown his appreciation. That is his style. I could be wrong but he has always showed up in the past and acted surprised even though he knew he won beforehand. I am glad to hear the reason the showrunners didn't show. That makes me feel better.

I thought so... I'm so disappointed! I guess if they wanted to show it, Hugh would have found a way to do the honors, if nothing else, via video streaming, with the last years statue!

GY wrote: "Dear ouse fans: thank you for the #PCA sweep. Dear Cranky ouse fans: they wouldn't televise r categories which is y u missed cast." So according to GY, the PCA powers decided in advance that they would not televise the results for best dramatic TV actor, best TV doctor, and best TV drama. And after being informed of this decision, the "House" powers decided that the cast and crew would not attend the ceremony. Doesn't make sense to me. Why would PCA encourage fans to vote in the first place and then purposely act to ensure that the winners will not show up for the broadcast? Methinks the opposite is closer to the truth: the "House" team opted not to attend and then the PCA decided not to televise the categories featuring absent winners.

The PCAs are not that important (although nice to win one!). Not like the Golden Globes, Emmys, or SAG Awards. I do feel bad for Lisa E being the only one there. But how great is it that she won? And that cute acceptance speech! LJ exploded last night.

Speaking of which, Hello Magazine's Most Attractive Celebrity of the Year voting is over. #1 Hugh Laurie - 110,822 #2 Gerrard Butler - 66,643 #3 David Tennant - 33,267 I know I cast about a dozen votes over the course of the month. Which one of you cast the other 110,800? For some strange reason, the voting has been reopened. Hugh now has 111,354 votes.

Methinks the opposite is closer to the truth: the "House" team opted not to attend and then the PCA decided not to televise the categories featuring absent winners. While we have no way of knowing which came first, there were always going to be categories that weren't televised. The Teen Choice Awards are the same way. They have dozens of categories to vote on, but at most a couple dozen can be crammed into a 2hr telecast in between all the commercials and set pieces with the host. Given the product placement and category emphasis, the big reason to get people voting is to get young people to watch the broadcast, buy the advertised/placed stuff, and go see a couple of heavily promoted movies. I'd bet that if people from Vampire Diaries or Gossip Girl had won, they'd have been all over the broadcast. CBS/CW would have made sure of that.

My guess is they didn't announce the winners of anyone that didn't show up. It makes no sense to announce Best Actress but not Best Actor or Best Show. The only one that I could see them skipping over is Best TV Doctor and they would have been able to announce it if they skipped that idiodic self-serving interview with the Kardasian sisters. I know it is a silly award show. I guess I just wanted to see on tv that LE had support. I am sure they all congratulated her but other than Hugh, the cast generally doesn't win anything so I am sure it was a big deal for her. Oh well, it wasn't meant to be.

It's not "best" anything, no matter how highly I may think of any of the House people. It's "favorite." 'Cuz I don't want to live in a world where "Twilight" is considered "best" anything.

Cuddyclothes- 01-06-2011

Not to mention "Sh*t My Dad Says." Eyycch. The awards really are an excuse for product placement and not much else.

Poeia- 01-06-2011

True, but it is nice for Lisa that she has enough devoted fans that she won. The PCAs don't have supporting thespian categories so even getting the nomination was flattering. ETA: There isn't an actor, director, writer or producer who wouldn't rather get an award voted on by members of the industry. The fan votes that have the most significance for them is the ratings (or ticket sales or whatever.)

Even if I know very little of American dramas and actors, I can imagine that PCA is a popularity contest. Whenever there's that kind of award or rankings in Japan, I can't but doubt our people's taste and choice. :D Still, it's nice to know House got so much popularity, while keeping that high level of production and writings. In fact, that's why I pay respect to Hollywood movies and TV dramas. There're some trashes, it's true, but usually, the American movies and dramas know how to unite the entertainment and the art. And the good entertainment is the art. I haven't seen Twilight, so I shouldn't say this, and I'm not opposing any of the comments of those who have seen Twilights, but if people love Twilight, there must be something that appeals to the people, beside the good looking actors (;))...and anyway, isn't it nice to have the variety of the awards?. I'm glad Lisa won. She may not be the best actress of all, but she IS a good actress, and her acting in House attracted so many fans. Good for her. And so goes my applause to House and Hugh. :) (...well, I may have a different opinion about PCA, if I had to endure the 2 hour program in front of TV like others. :P)

scrivo35- 01-06-2011

I think the cast and crew stayed away in protest that Dr Wilson didn't win the Best Doc award  I wonder if the voting system was changed to one vote per person, like our NTA here in the UK, the show would have more creditability. Even though it would still be a popularity contest and I have no doubt that Hugh,Lisa and House would still win but it would give a true picture of how many fans love them instead of showing how crazy some fans can be. JMO :)

Further tweets from Greg Yaitanes, which were collected by the LJ community House Tweets: @DeJune_House: @GregYaitanes Pls clarify. We missed them because they weren't there or we missed them (while in attendance) & they just weren't televised? @GregYaitanes: @DeJune_House PCA said they would not show them so we didn't go out of respect for the fans that got us there. #PCAfail So GY says that the cast's thought process was that the show was dissing the fans by already deciding in advance not to show it, so rather than give PCAs the ability to promote them as being in attendance -- when they had no intention of honoring the fans who got them there in the first place -- they didn't go.
