I think she meant "It", not it. And...yeah, but not by him. Didn't they sing some stupid song when they were down in the sewers. My God, it's been so long since I've seen that movie.
You might be right that that might be a point of reference for some people, but I had to read your post several times before I knew what you were saying just because, in spite of him being the big baddie, I don't really think of him when I think of that movie. I don't know why. I'm probably in the minority on that one.

The I in It was capitalized for a reason ;)

Ahhhh,I'm slow. I blame the drugs.
But now I really am annoyed I can't find a movie clip of Sweet Transvestite.
Every other song in the world is on YouTube, why am I being subjected to still frame clips?
I mean obviously, I shouldn't be looking at YouTube at all, but since I am I think I should be able to find what I'm looking for. Rather than some weirdo karaoke version.

Was there singing in Clue?

I don't know which is more depressing. Although I suppose the first wins since I'm curious to know what reference base someone would have for Tim Curry where they would be aware of who he was, but have no knowledge of RH.
Yeah, I'm trying to come up with a reference point for Tim Curry that didn't involve singing. I suppose if he was only the father from the Wild Thornberrys, but I suspect there was singing in there somewhere.
I'm trying to imagine what kind of rock a person would have to live under that s/h/it would be unaware of Rocky Horror.
A younger person. Someone who watched Home Alone 2 multiple times as a child or as a babysitter. He's done a huge amount of voice work in children's animated movies and TV shows as well, and his voice is very distinctive. When I was a kid, I easily matched the guy from Home Alone to one of the characters on Gargoyles.
I've known for years that Tim Curry was in RH, but I've never seen more than a few clips from the movie. And I can easily imagine some of my peers not knowing much about Rocky Horror.

I feel at this point my only possible recourse is to shake my cane and advise you to get off my lawn.
I'm very close to leaving work early to dope myself up on some high quality "go to sleep" pills. I think "Clue" would be the perfect movie to watch as I drift off into happy dreamland.

Sigh. I love Clue. Haven't seen it in years.
And I believe there was just a little bit of singing in it....in a novelty kind of way. I mean, obviously, there is a singing telegram that sings a bit. But doesn't "Mr. Body" have one part where he's frantically describing all the action which comes out as a bit sing-songy? I could be making that up.
The most delicious bit of casting I've seen with TC lately was when he was the abstinence only professor at Indiana in "Kinsey." Some nice irony at work there.

He wouldn't qualify for being too young, but I think his Tim Curry frame of reference was Home Alone 2, Clue, maybe Legend and It. Married, 3 pre-teen boys. I also mentioned Pirates of Penzance in the West End, Hair, working with D'Oly Carte (spelling?)
A few weeks after that I had The Best of TC on my cd. He heard "I Do the Rock" and said "I know that song. Who's singing it?" I told him it was someone nobody ever said could sing. "That's Tim Curry?" Yeah. He wrote it, too.
That was over 10 years ago. He probably still hasn't seen Rocky Horror. Very nice and funny guy but incredibly straight-laced.
ETA: amysusanne, you can't go to sleep early. It's Monday. New episode of House in less than 6 hours.

Yes! Doesn't he actually have a point where he's reenacting the whole thing and quickly sings the telegram or the record that Yvette was listening to? I can't remember. I love that movie so much and need to watch it immediately.
Legend
Oh, "Legend". What an awful movie. I think I watched it a hundred times when I was a kid.

But...but...if I go to sleep *right* now I can be back up by then!!!
::sigh:: I can hear my boss in the conference room. I could sneak out and call it a day, but I'd have to walk right by there. Plus, I'd feel too guilty to leave without telling someone. Maybe I should just start planning in advance to call in sick tomorrow...

Woo hoo!
Susan Sarandon's greatest artistic achievement.
Would've been a lot more fun if my supervisor didn't feel the urge to stop by my desk every 12 seconds to ask me to do something for him. You'd think I was his assistant or something, the way he's making demands.

Thanks for posting this, DOB. I'm having a bit of the Talkin' Late Monday Afternoon Blues, and that video cheered me up.

The Rocky Horror Show! Thank you for posting!
I went to see the London original casts perform in the old Bunraku (puppet show) theater 30 years ago. How could they get the permission to use the traditional Bunraku theater, I don't know. The musical was bizarre and funny. I don't remember who were in the original casts, but there wasn't Tim Curry.
I saw the movie later with my American friend. She was disappointed that the Japanese audience was too quiet, and didn't sing with the movie. :D
