Resurrecting this thread for today's game. (And there's no way I'm sticking around to see crappy reality show "Undercover Boss." Bad move, CBS.)
I'll be hosting a party during the game. Anyone else out there have plans? Folks dug out from the East Coast yet?
As for picks ... much as I like the sentiment of rooting for New Orleans, I've got to go with Manning over Drew Brees. Sorry. I'm calling it for the Colts.

I'm rooting for the Saints. They have a better cheer. But, I'm really not a football (or any kind of sports, at all) person-so, mostly I don't know.
No party for me. I'm thinking I might be getting sick, so now that I have food for all animals, I'm going to take it easy. Possibly sleep a lot.

I had plans to watch the game with my mother, but she seems to go out of her way to find ways to hurt me so she canceled. I like Manning, but I'm rooting for the Saints. Deuce McAllister is a hometown boy. His cousin and my dad were very good friends, so we have to root for his team even if he's just sitting on the bench. I'm not going to be upset if the Colts win though.

I'm in the New Orleans area, so the atmosphere here defies description--and has for two weeks. What you see in the media about the unification that abounds in Who Dat Nation is real. In so many ways, the team is a metaphor for the area in terms of resurrection after Katrina. Somehow, although winning would certainly be better, this is one case where, for both the team and the city, just being in the Super Bowl is a milestone worthy of celebration. A Victory Parade has already been scheduled...win or lose.

That's fantastic. I'm glad there's celebration planned. My parents are in Biloxi at the moment and are looking forward to a little excitement during the game tonight. They're traveling, so they could've gone to NOLA, but they're not fans of craziness, so they went with the vicinity.
ec, I'm sorry your mom hurt you. I know it's not nearly the same, but at least we can all watch together...alone.

The Who Dat Nation includes many people in southern Mississippi. I'm sure your folks will see much excitement.

Namaste,
Have fun at your party. But I assume this means we won't get a peek at House and Wilson watching the game. :)

It's not just in southern MS. I'm in the central part of the state and people here are insanely happy about the Saints. It's like you said, it's sort of a symbol of the progress made since Katrina. New Orleans gets all the media attention concerning it, but MS was absolutely devastated by that hurricane too.
Thanks RSH. You know how she is.

I'm totally rooting for the Saints although I'm football illiterate (much to the horror of my family) and won't watch the game, but I adore New Orleans and have many friends there. This has brought them such happiness - I'd love to see them have something else to cheer about!

We're rooting for the Colts, because we're in the Mid West too, we have family in Indiana and most importantly, they have 2 Hawks on their team.
fffaw- 02-07-2010
Well, I lied. I'm *kinda* watching the game. I have no clue what the hell is going on, but I'm enjoying the excitement. :-)

Spectacle is fun! It doesn't have to make any sense.
fffaw- 02-07-2010
We're like '3rd and down!" (or whatever) "Whooooooo!"
::turn to each other::
"What does that mean?"
"I dunno. Pour me some wine and we'll wait for the commercials. Those are hilarious!"
We are pathetic.
radiosweetheart- 02-07-2010
You sound like fun to me.
I'm making dinner. During the game, I go into the kitchen and argue with the miso soup. During the commercials, I watch.
fffaw- 02-07-2010
We're roasting a pork tenderloin. Very exciting here.

Two pants-free commercials in a row? What has this world come to?
