 You start to know me too well!
And I suspect we are dangerously OT right now...
Ok kids everybody back to topic... :tritter: :tritter: :tritter:
Just kidding :)
I wouldn't mind to have the credits changed to that clip at all.
I wish I had the strength to stay out of the spoiler thread, I admire those who manage to do so. I need to have one of my favorite shows spoilered so I can stay out of the Lost spoiler threads over at the fuselage.

To this?
Jouse, that is the cutest thing ever. Thanks for linking to it!

Ah, but if they change the credits we'll have another debate on what the images associated with the actors' names means. I for one still think they're random and mean nothing, but if they change the credits all bets are off. Maybe whatever medical image goes with LE's name should be replaced with a picture of a mammogram.
Lully- 09-15-2007
But what will happen if they decide to add some new character? They'd just put his/her name in the same opening credits? Wouldn't it be odd?
And that is pure speculation, since the only spoilers I read are about Wilson, I know very little about the other stuff.
Taiga- 09-15-2007
I haven't read any official spoilers, but I just looked at the media thread and am wondering if it means something for S4 that LE is suddenly getting a lot of press.
misere- 09-15-2007
LE may get more screen time during season 4, but her media appearances now are no indicator of that. Her media presence has always far outstripped all the other supporting cast members. Just going to marykir's site and tallying up the supporting cast in the radio and TV interview section will provide the evidence for this. Thirteen segments pre-season 4 compared to OE and JS, both with five, and JM and SW, with four. I also think she has done many more print interviews than the rest of the supporting cast as well, although I don't have an easy resource to back that up. I'm not even counting her exposure from parties, charity events, gifting suites, and premieres.
Honestly, LE is the logical cast member to do interviews. RSL doesn't like them, and all the rest of the cast have less time due to filming constraints. She also (of the supporting cast) has the most experience being on camera as herself because of her experience as an MTV personality. And she has experience handling notoriety and attention from her club kid days (seriously, becoming the subject of an NY Times article is not normal at such a young age).
Taiga- 09-16-2007
I didn't know all that about LE. Hmm, there is an interesting interview with her in Bitch magazine posted in the Cuddy thread though. She's asked why they did the Cuddy-wants-a-baby storyline and she said it was her idea because if the show goes on long enough SHE might get pregnant, so they're laying the groundwork for the possibility. I'm guessing that means we won't have LE wearing a fake pregnancy belly or an adoption storyline, then, if they're waiting for LE herself to get pregnant or not. To which I say you're 41.5 years old, hon, if you're going to do it do it now.
I wondered the same thing, bailey!

Reading that bit about LE made me wonder if they have ever considered a storyline for Cuddy that LE hasn't initiated.
Lully- 09-16-2007
I just read the LE's cote... My first reation... WTF?
If LE got pregnant in RL then they could have included the storyline but BEFORE?
That "arc" started at the end of season 2, so if LE gets pregnant at the end of, let's say season 7, it will be the most long "arc" ever...
And it's somehow sad to know this kind of information about the actress' private life. I really don't like when actors seem to start to "act" like the character, I want to know about Cuddy, not about LE...

I really don't like when actors seem to start to "act" like the character
Or when characters start to act like the actor.
I can see the reasoning behind introducing the idea of a Cuddy pregnancy now, instead of waiting until LE gets pregnant (if she does). Imagine the alternative! Everything's rolling along, Cuddy is Internet dating and running the hospital and mooning over House (hey, that's how LE plays it), no mention of her wanting children, and suddenly she's pregnant. That would be a WTF. We've all seen it on other shows and it's never good. Remember the Cheers fiasco with Rebecca? Whereas this way if Cuddy does turn up pregnant, we're prepared. There's backstory to explain it.

Or when characters start to act like the actor.
Yep, that's annoying, too...
The thing is that the idea that Cuddy wanted a baby was a WTF moment at the end of season 2, at least to me...
If the actress gets pregnant there would be time to introduce the concept before we started to notice the pregnancy, it's just a matter of timing and good writing.
Now, if I have to believe in LE, this storyline will never gets an end, unless she have a child... Sorry, but WTF?

That would be very annoying, unless LE decides she's not going to have a child and then hopefully Cuddy would too.

But they've done the same thing throughout the series, and I don't hear anyone complaining that they've got House riding a motorcycle because HL does, or that they added a piano because HL plays, or that they made Chase Australian because JS was ...
To me, I like the idea that the powers that be are open to interpretations by their actors. The actors know the characters as well as anyone else does, why not listen to their ideas? Now I'm not advocating wholesale pandering to those actors, but they've certainly made it clear in the past that they're receptive to those ideas, from everyone. (The ginger and walnut tea thing in "Autopsy" for instance was worked out by HL and Jennifer Morrison and they agreed it was a good bit and to keep it in.)
Maybe it's just me, but I'd rather have an open atmosphere to toss around ideas and hear input rather than the megalomaniac powers who run things other times. (Give a listen, if you can stand it, to the director's commentary on "Flight of the Phoenix" for an example of a blowhard who can't hear anyone but himself.)

ITA. It would be far more bizarre if Cuddy randomly turned up pregnant, and they weren't prepared with any reasoning behind it. I'm so tired of medical shows where doctors are like "Whoops! I'm pregnant!" In a way, it's more gratifying to either see Cuddy get something she wants...or heartbreaking, if she doesn't.
And it doesn't really eliminate too many storylines. If they have Cuddy give up, adopt, and then get into a relationship and find herself pregnant because the actress is? That happens more often than you'd think. That's why our friend's kids are only eight months apart.
Lully- 09-16-2007
I find great that the producers listen to the actors, they are, after all, who really know the characters. In any moment I was implying the opposite.
But one thing is to use the actor's talent to play piano, or the actor's original accent. Those are not personal informations.
If the actress in fact was pregnant the idea of adding this event to the character's story would be perfect, much better than to try to hide the pregnancy. But it was not what happened.
What bothers me a little is the impression that I'm watching some personal information about the actress life. Could you imagine how awful would be if the actress doesn't get pregnant? The angst is suppose to be about Cuddy, not about LE.
ETA:
This is so OT... Maybe we should move it to a more appropriate thread...
