Which Character Would You Like to See Create a Spin-Off? It's the year 2011 and Hugh Laure's contract is up. He's refusing to renew, saying that the show has been a great experience but now it's over. He won't come back even as a guest star. The cast is shooting the series finale. (Waits for wails of despair to subside)
Assuming the show's romantic pairings and jobs are the same as they were as of season 5's episode 'Joy To The World', which character or characters would you watch in his/her/their own spin-off show? In your comments you can specify whether or not you'd want to see the spin-off set in PPTH or not, but remember there will be no guest appearances by other House characters. So if for example you want a spin-off with Foreman, it can't be as a fellow under House because House won't be on the show. Because I know how your minds work, the spin-off cannot be porn.
ETA Sorry I don't know what happened there, Chase and Cameron was supposed to be the fourth option.

I said Wilson, but only under the conditions that House dies. I know that sounds horrible, but it wouldn't work otherwise if Hugh wouldn't guest star. If House dies, it would be interesting to just see as a whole how PPTH reacts and moves on without him. Wilson, especially, also Cuddy, but mostly Wilson. We would see more of the dynamic and impact House really has on Wilson, and everybody for that matter.

Tough choice. I was down to Chase or Coma Guy and picked Chase.
Thirteen's HC is progressing faster than originally thought. In 4 years she'd be boring and flailing.
If House were gone, Cuddy might stop dressing like a stripper and start behaving like a competent professional again, but I'd be afraid we'd be given "professional single mom looks like she has it made but she can't find a man."
Housewhore4 is right. Wilson without House is unthinkable.

Chase.
I doubt any spin-offs of this show would last long, however.
If I could vote for a spin-off that starts this fall, I say 13! Give her a spin-off so her fans can watch her be tragic and snarky on a show that truly stars her, and I won't have to watch her on my favorite show.
Chipmunk_love- 01-11-2009
I voted for Kutner, but it was a toss-up among him and Chase/Cameron and Coma Guy.
There are certain characters whom I will never be able to mentally separate from House, namely Wilson and Cuddy. They are fascinating individual characters, and I'm excited to watch their growth and exploration over the next few years. However, I'm more excited to watch their relationships with House. That's just the way it goes.
Honestly, the most likely spin-off would be Foreman taking over the Diagnostics department should House ever retire (or more likely, die), as it would bring the series full-circle -- begin the show with him starting work, end the show with him taking over -- but I doubt many people would watch that. Foreman has a good enough fanbase, but not necessarily one that could keep many people fascinated for long.

I agree that Wilson without House is unthinkable, so while he would be my second choice of a character I'd like to follow post-House, I couldn't vote for him. Cuddy's in the same boat. Her life revolves around House. And, honestly, I don't find Cuddy interesting enough to watch a spinoff of her.
Chase is my pick not only because he's my favorite character and I would actually watch his spin-off, but also because he's the one character that seems capable of functioning without House influencing his every move. He's taken the best House had to offer him and grown as a doctor and as a person. He's been House's best student so he could certainly head a diagnostics/surgery/ICU department of his own. Though I like Chase/Cameron, I didn't pick both of them because Cameron still seems too influenced by House's needs and she doesn't quite seem to stand alone as a doctor/individual yet. I still have my doubts that she and Chase would be together to ride off in the sunset when House is over.
In addition to the character's traits that influenced my vote, I also believe that Jesse Spencer is a fantastic young actor who could handle being a lead.

Chase and Cameron. I couldn't stand to watch Cameron on her own, but I really do love her relationship with Chase and I would watch a show exploring that a lot more. I think they have an interesting dynamic. But, they definately have to be together, their relationship interests me more than both of their individual characters. Cameron is much more tolerable around Chase and I think if House was taken completely out of the picture, she could become even more tolerable.
Wilson's my favorite, but like others, I can't see him without House. It just doesn't work and I don't want to picture Wilson in a world where House is dead. That would just be so horribly depressing. I'm one who is completely against the idea of the show ending with House's death. Wilson would just be so alone if that happened. Honestly, even though I love Wilson more than House, I'd rather see Wilson die than House. I don't know why, but the idea of House without Wilson doesn't depress me as much as Wilson without House.
None of the other characters interest me enough to follow them to their own shows. Cuddy would be so much like other shows these days, single, successful, beautiful, but an emotional mess who sucks at relationships. If I want to watch that, I'll turn on Private Practice (and I'll never make the mistake of turning Private Practice on again).

The Foreteen show would be in answer to my prayers.
idonmatrix- 01-11-2009
I voted for Foreteen because I can't stand Foreman and don't much care for 13 with Foreman. Of course I would never watch the show but then again that's the whole idea behind my choice.
I didn't pick Wilson because there's no way I would watch House without him.
Taiga- 01-11-2009
Ah, but the question specifically stated that the show is already over. It's not about finding a way to get rid of characters you don't want, it's about which characters you want to continue to watch without House.
I picked none of the above. None of the characters could hold my interest on his or her own.
kittylugnut- 01-11-2009
I voted for Kutner, because he's the only one who really has potential to do crazy things and be more than just a typical drama. He could be truly interesting on his own, but the rest are only interesting in the way they react to House.
jonne- 01-12-2009
I don't think I would watch a show about any of the characters without House, but if I really would have to choose I would go for Kutner. I think it would be more comedy than drama though.
radiosweetheart- 01-12-2009
My answer still stands. I think that Foreteen would be a perfect spin off. It would last about 1.5 episodes (pulled off the air half way thru the second). It would go down in history as the worst spin off idea since "After MASH" and I will laugh.
Spider- 03-27-2009
I'd love for Foreteen to leave for spin-off now, but failing that, I guess I'd watch a spin-off with Wilson and would probably hope that Hugh changed his mind about guesting.

Noticed that the latest post for this thread is from 2009. The poll probably relates to season 5 primarily. Season six had two obviously showcased episodes (three, if you count Broken as exclusively Hugh), and they are of Cuddy and Wilson. IMO, either of those two characters would make a great series - Wilson would concentrate on cancer and his personal issues; and Cuddy would give an administrator's view of a hospital - and her personal issues.
Cuddy's niche, that of hospital administrator, is kind of addressed in other shows that I haven't seen - Hawthorne, who is a head nurse, and to a lesser extent, Nurse Jackie, but both are about hospital nurses. This very multifaceted character as portrayed by Lisa Edelstein, could really be something different.
Robert Sean Leonard is sooooo underrated. He does magnificent work consistently even when he only gets about a minute or two in an episode. Cancer and the issues related to it can be such a wide open subject - and RSL has a talent for understated comedy to lighten it all. Yes, a series on Wilson could very much work.
