Welcome to House's House of Whining: The Important Junk
Welcome to House's House of Whining, the best place for House MD discussion on the web! Well, in my opinion anyway. Not that I'm biased, or anything... So, below are the ground rules - the stuff that you need to obey at it's most basic. Follow them and we shall get along just fine. Anyway, they're not hard to remember. RULES <*> No ChatSpeak, please. If you want to know why not, take a trip over to the Fox Boards. I'm amazed anyone ever gets out of there alive... This, by the way, includes the use of the word '4.man', which is hereby banned from these boards. Seriously. His name is Foreman - I don't care what you saw in Histories. Foreman. <*> You can disagree with someone all you want - it's healthy, even - but no personal attacks on anyone. I mean anyone - this includes other members, other communities on the web, members/moderators on said boards and critics. Personal attacks can result in instant suspension, or even banning. You have been warned. <*> This means no personal attacks via the PM system either. If you receive a PM from another that concerns you please forward it immediately to Evil Nurse Brenda, or any of the mods. <*> Admiring an actor/actress's looks/body is fine. Three pages of "he's so hot" isn't. The same goes for bashing an actor/actress's looks or body. <*> Digressions and tangents in the conversation are ok, welcome even, but if you veer completely off topic and there's a lot of interest in discussing what you've veered to, it's probably a good idea to move the discussion to a more apt thread (where others who are interested in discussing the topic can find it.) <*> Before you even consider posting in a thread, we recommend that you read either 15 pages or 15 days worth of content. This will help give you an idea of what that particular thread is about and helps keep everything on topic. <*> Search before starting new threads, please. It makes everything much easier. Be completely sure that what you want to post cannot fit in any other thread - cluttered boards are not fun. <*> Try to post something with substance, rather than just one- or two-word posts. I get that sometimes people just want to post in agreement to another post and that's fine, but at least try to add something else to the conversation. <*> Formatting NO PUTTING YOUR ENTIRE POST IN CAPS. also don't put it all in lower case. Use colors as a highlight, not for your entire post. Don't make your entire post in bold type. (Only mod notes and announcements should be in all bold.) Italics, underlines and big and small font sizes should also be used sparingly for occasional emphasis only. And don't over use smilies. <*> No posting of pictures - the only graphics we want to see in posts are emoticons. Please link to any and all pictures that you want to share. Not only do pictures clutter the boards, but there is a good chance that by posting them, you are violating copyright. To be safe, we are simply going to say that you should not post any pictures at all. Like I said, the rules aren't hard to follow and we certainly don't bite. Just adhere them and all will be well  Anyway, now you've read these, ensure you also read the FAQ and SPOILER POLICY.

It has come to our attention that there has been dissatisfaction with the moderators’ reaction to certain lines of discussion. We do our best to keep the discussion friendly and within appropriate boundaries. If anyone feels that the topic has become vulgar or offensive it is the responsibility of that poster to contact a mod or admin as soon as possible. Not everyone is offended or amused by the same things. Without communication there is no way to put a stop to troubling conversations before they get out of hand. On the subject of troubling communications – some new and thoroughly disturbing trends have started. While speculation and ideas are welcome, we do not welcome, nor will we tolerate inflammatory bashing. This includes:<*>making light of such deeply serious topics as Nazism and domestic violence. <*>being rude/talking smack about an actor's or actress's body. It is possible to discuss someone's physical strengths and weakness without being demeaning. And, as the rules have clearly stated from the beginning "Admiring an actor/actress's looks/body is fine. Three pages of "he's so hot" isn't. The same goes for bashing an actor/actress's looks or body." <*>attacking another poster’s theories as irrelevant/off-topic because you don’t agree with them. If you don’t agree, argue your point of view (politely.) If you want to reply to a post that you believe is off-topic in a particular thread, simply indicate where your reply can be found. But, if you think a thread has derailed, contact a moderator. The team will determine if a redirect is in order.Be respectful with your posts. Do not casually toss around references that are known emotional triggers. If you have an issue, any issue, please contact a mod or admin. In other words, the anonymity of a screen name is no excuse for bad manners. xoxo The Mods 407, arizonamyrie, extra_cat, fffaw, Hail the Random, galaxygirl, Poeia, radiosweetheart and sautomne P.S. Our names are listed individually on the "Rules, Guidelines and Announcements" subforum. Just click on a name there (or use the links provided here) and send a PM. ENB doesn't check her PMs as often as the rest of us do, so send it to someone else.

Adding another variation to the "No ChatSpeak" rule, when you are in the post-episode discussion thread, it's fine to abbreviate that episode's name. But elsewhere in the forum please spell it out. You might know what you meant by SM while you're in a discussion about House's left eyebrow or MR as an example of an episode when Chase wore a particularly ugly outfit, but everyone else has to stop reading to recall that those are the initials for Sports Medicine and Mob Rules. There are 86 episodes already with more coming in just ten and a half weeks so please lessen the confusion by taking a few extra seconds to write out the names in full.
