I've another theory (but I'm not Ann Elk).
There’s a daydreamer in House.
I don’t believe it’s only a pun, that just because Gregory House is like Sherlock Holmes that he’s called House. The house shelters daydreaming, it holds memories and imagination. The house is a refuge, and a threat, just like the family that lives there. The house can have a vertical hierarchy, rationality and dreams in the attic, dark secrets and connections in the basement. It’s a place for intimacy. House is skeptical.
CATE: Show me your place.
HOUSE: It's got walls, a floor, and in some places, a roof.
CATE: I am not exposing myself without some reciprocity.
HOUSE: It's my apartment, it's not my soul.
House says he’s skeptical. He might be lying.
Cuddy’s handyman is injured fixing her leaky roof, is her reasoning faulty, or just the roof? House breaks in…. wait, he knows where the spare key is kept. House appears at Cuddy’s window like a figure in a dream. Interlopers appear at the window instead of the front door in Safe, and The Right Stuff, though in this case 26/Ridiculously Old Fraud – shouldn’t that be Freud? – talks his way in, appears behind the window and opens it from the inside.
26: I told the super I was worried about my niece, she hasn't been answering the telephone. Nice guy. Two daughters in Mount Holyoke
Fran has a problem with her cellar, and some not too dark secrets. Keith’s house is poisonous, with termites in the walls, and an angry widowed father.
House’s office grows a balcony that connects to Wilson’s office, allowing him (and Amber “I was never here”) to break into Wilson’s world. Wilson doesn’t have a home, just a hotel room. “Go home to your hotel room and laugh at that irony.”
Which leads me to the curry of the day. I think the destination of the road trip will be the house where somebody grew up, House, Wilson, Amber…lets face it I have no idea. But I’d like it to be true.
Also, House is about our first home, the human body; “these three cubic feet of bone and blood and meat are all I love and know”.
Now I’ve come back to the beginning.

Well, you can't be disillusioned if you didn't have illusions to begin with. And if people don't change. And everybody lies...

Sounds nice, but don't forget that House is a military brat. He grew up all over the place. It doesn't seem likely that there's an old homestead to visit.

His grandparents' house, perhaps?

It'd be a big surprise if Grandpa Walt turned up.
But perhaps House's tale of Oma was true for someone after all.

Okay, got a new one...
In LTD, soap stud announces that the twins were fathered by two different dads...one by (can't remember the guy's name) before the appendix thing, and one by soap stud after the appendix thing (sorry, I don't have the transcripts for this).
Anyway, here's my crack idea... Cuddy gets impregnated by mr. PI before her appendix bursts, and again afterwards by House, so that she has twins by two different babydaddies.
Now if that isn't crack, I don't know what is!!

The finest crack travlncarrie. I like this idea better than is good for me.
Twins! One shorter, dark (like the PI, or Cuddy) with greyish eyes, one taller, fairer, a skinny brunette with blue eyes (like House).
Or
Twins! One shorter, dark with greyish eyes (like 13), one taller, blonde with blue eyes (Amber). Time is not a fixed construct. Let’s not return to that daughters theme, even here.
House’s jokes about twins gain some – totally undeserved! - resonance.
“Knew the twins were real.” (unfortunately not a reference to Cuddy, damn)
“Six-year-old twins in front of an elevator of blood, boys’ choirs: those are bad omens.”
House is already an admirer of Cuddy’s twins “You have great yabos”
And the twins in the survivor game.
“Stop it! This argument is distracting every male and lesbian here!”
Then there’s all that nature versus nurture stuff that twin studies investigate. That's probably identical twins though (suggesting a tangential crack theory where House is the father of both twins.)
House is a Gemini.
In Roman mythology the Gemini, Castor and Pollux, are the twin sons of Leda. In the myth the twins shared the same mother but had different fathers which meant that Pollux was immortal and Castor was mortal. When Castor died, Pollux asked Zeus to keep them together and they were transformed into the Gemini constellation.
Too much curry takes the roof of your mouth off.

Wow, you guys have gone from curry to jalapeño smoothie around here! ;->
Twins? Oh, you mean House's evil twin SISTER!!!! Ha, bet you hadn't thought of that one. She has false eyelashes, long red hair and is drowning in a sea of entitlement. House's whole character makes sense if this is true. Though how she survived past six is a mystery.
Or, House's Good Twin brother, who has a British accent, a self-effacing demeanor, gentle humor and the same dazzlling blue eyes, and was adopted by British missionaries when House's parents lost him in India. So careless. But now he's looking for his birth family to include them in his will, he's a billionaire too, of course. And dying of a mysterious ailment. What to do???
Ahem. So endeth the crack on heat wave. Move along...

This is good. If we find Wilson's LLB, he can get together with House's twin sister.

Hi
I think House had a twin that died and also I think House is slowly dying and he knows it and that is why he takes risks.
I hope when House finally finishes that he does die in the end because the amounts of drugs he takes has to have done some damage to his body.
travin1- 06-29-2008
House's twin...hmmm, well I kinda like the idea that House's creep of a dad had an affair and he's got a half sibling out there. Okay, so I'm working on a crackfic right now with this very topic.
Hey...House's twin could be 13's parent! LOL
Boffle- 06-29-2008
If he has a twin, I think it's his mom that was fooling around...maybe they spent time in Australia...

Boffle I'm starting (yes I know starting is a bit of a stretch) to get confused. Why am I trying to link that with House saying
"I hired Chase ‘cause his dad made a phone call." Is Chase House's twin's son? Or his half brother? I think I've lost it, if I ever had it!
Chipmunk_love- 06-29-2008
Don't worry, Sparks, I think the majority of us have lost it. :D
Personally, I will always subscribe to the theory LE put forth once that someday soon Cuddy will have one blond child, one African-American child, one child with a limp, and one who's near-sighted. Of course, now we can add an Indian child and a short, balding one as well. What's going on in that office, Dr. Cuddy?
