I know there are many authors who read this thread so I just wanted to say "thank you" for making the hiatus less tedious by creating such excellent fanfic to keep me occupied. I'm a H/W girl -- friendship or slash -- and I've immersed myself in the works by Elicia8, Mer-Duff, T-Eyla, and the Aftershocks series all summer long. There are others, of course (Miss Violet's writings will always hold a special place in my special place :D , for example ). Now my big problem is I'm not sure the new season can ever compare to the fic that is out there. I was rereading one of Mer's pieces where Wilson and House briefly discuss the Long Lost Brother (a storyline that was never revisited, alas) and I couldn't help but think that the writers of House would be well-advised to stop playing with the formula, and flesh out some of the characters and storylines that are possible. The whole reason for this post was to bring up a question for those with the mad writing skillz: Which storyline from fiction would you like to see on the actual show? I would love to see a Sick!Wilson story so we would finally have evidence that House really does care.

Since it seems very unlikely that the show will do anything in a flashback sequence, that knocks out a lot of pre-show fic. But I would love to see Bad Company and Aftershocks brought to the screen. I finally read Denial Isn't a River in Egypt and it would be fantastic on screen.

Yup. Backstory would be nice. Or more of House's family. Home (Tidwell) might work for that one. And when I peeked in here earlier, I was about to respond with Denail Isn't a River... but corgigirl beat me to it. I can see that one on screen. But most of the fic I like to read wouldn't go over on screen because its more introspective (less action).

This would never happen now that Chase is no longer a fellow, but I would have loved to see Into White made into a show.

blackmare- 09-15-2007

Aithlyn, I am so with you on Into White. It would've made an outstanding episode.

Taiga- 09-15-2007

So would 'Little Boy Blue'.

extra_cat- 09-15-2007

Into White is probably the most episode-like fic I've ever read. It really is fantastic.

A modest proposal would have been infinitely better than W&D and it's subsequents. That's how the Tritter Arc should have unfolded, damn it! :( And I totaly hear you, babyeinstein. FanFic very often excels the show, both in what I want for the characters and in calibre. There is a significant amount of fics that are funnier, shrewder and more stirring than some of the House episodes.

What is Into White?

Taiga- 09-15-2007

Into White is a Chasecentric story by pwcorgigirl. http://pwcorgigirl.livejournal.com/81883.html#cutid1%20/

thanks

Thanks, babyeinstein! And I'm totally with you on expressing gratitude for the fanfiction writers for making the hiatus a little more bearable. And I'll also add my regrets that I don't have enough time for reading fan fics and I miss a lot of good stuff for that reason. Even so, what would I do without H/W fan fics? I don't know if the authors realize that I read their fics again and again, and that their writings help me get through these dry times when the show's on break. So thank you, fan fic writers :D As far as which fiction would I like to see on film, hm, well, I think I'd like to see all my favorite stories in live action! Um, that is, if gay pr0n were suddenly part of mainstream television programming. But seriously, I have to exclude many of my favorites for that reason. Much as I love the naughty stuff, I'd have to pick something not too explicit as a likely candidate. Oh, but it's still a tough question, because there are so many good ones out there. I wouldn't mind seeing earlwyn's "Sedated" on screen. I have to give her major props for foreshadowing the House/Wilson dosing-each-other's-coffee in canon. I've come across that before - themes from fan fic that later appear in canon. I do not for a moment believe that this is because the show's writers read fan fic and cull it for ideas. It's just that there are these, hm, I guess I'd call them, known issues with House and Wilson and they will inevitably be addressed both in fan fic, and in canon. For example, I read a few comments regarding Wilson's psychological well-being and some fans thought he was heading towards a nervous breakdown. While it wasn't quite that dramatic, he was later portrayed as coping with depression. Fortunately the show's writers never descend towards utter predictability. Now, if only they'd address the ever-increasing erotic tension between House and Wilson!

One of my favourite writers picked one of my prompts for Wilson Fest, I had to share my excitement! :balloon:  :w00t:

G - Suitable for all readers. No sex, violence or offensive material. PG - May not be suitable for younger readers. Generally very tame in terms of violence and language. PG-13 - Generally recommended for teenagers or older. May contain moderate violence and some stronger language, but not too graphic. Sexual themes may be implied, but are not explicit. R - Suitable for mature readers. Contains some adult content. The fiction may contain strong language, heavy violence, or some heavier sexual content. NC-17 - Absolutely for adults only. Adult fiction is grouped under the "Adult" section. Likely contains extreme violence, strong language and/or explicit sexual content. This makes sense to me: G for general, PG for parental guidance, ie taking the kids to see Finding Nemo, PG 13 for here ten bucks Tarquin - go knock yourself out at the movies and don't bug me, R for Quentin Tarantino, and NC 17 for hot shagging action. But ff has gone nuts. FF.pit of voles has an incomphrehensible and very forgettable system. T for what - terrific, K for may contain mentions of kleptomania? Even MAVIS makes more sense. David Hyde Pierce (Niles from Frasier) once said he rented a racy French film and it was rated MAVIS. Who was this MAVIS woman, he thought? Mature Audience Violence Insest Sex or Mavis as she is otherwise known. Poor woman. I bet she wishes she could change jobs with IANTO - Immature Audience Napping Terrific Orgasm (well just judging by Captain Jack it should be). That's for the Torchwood fans. I know we were talking earlier about warnings and how tricky it is to draw the line so we don't have OBTWHWDITLC for Oh By The Way House Will Die In The Last Chapter or TBDI for The Butler Did It warnings. Too much information spoils the suspense for me. I prefer to go on the theory that 1. If Quentin is the director it isn't going to be pretty and 2. R means there is a good chance people will die. But this K, T thing. I always forget what they mean and just randomly pick one. And I swear other people do too. And this probably is a bad thing: 'Oh look a House story written by a sheep and it's rated Q. How sweet... ARGHH!' But then again I don't think ff.POV readers have a schmick what the ratings mean either. ... Congrats T But I hope it wasn't P Diddy or else Wilson is in for a heck of a ride.

zulu- 09-18-2007

Sheep, the reason the Pit doesn't use MPAA ratings is because the MPAA has started sending out C&Ds to people who use their trademarked rating system without their consent.
