poeia-- this is the only thing that makes any sort of sense at all. There is no possible way that W graduated med school 10 years ago. It's not even plausible. Head of oncology when we meet him? He'd still have been serving out fellowship #1. I will be certain to ask DE about this (esp. since they've repeated it). This is too revisionist to make any sort of sense.

This HAS to be the third time around for Sam and Wilson. I thought I'd given up on the idea but, unless it's true, everything is impossible. If they were divorced 10 years ago, in Birthmarks, Wilson said that he "was fresh out of med school" when he and House met and they met when Sam's lawyer sent divorce papers. Tonight they repeated that was 10 years ago. So... 2000 - Wilson graduated med school; Wilson & Sam divorced 2001-2003 (somewhere in there) – Wilson married and divorced Bonnie. On their honeymoon they adopted the puppy Hector who was 17 in 2007. 2004 - Wilson was director of oncology department and married to Julie. ~~~~~ If they broke up for the second time 10 years ago, Late 1980s - Wilson graduated from med school. He and Sam divorced. Wilson and House met. 1990 - Wilson married Bonnie. They adopted Hector. mid-1990s - House told Wilson about an opening at PPTH. He & Bonnie moved to Princeton. circa 2000 - Wilson and Sam try dating again. It was a disaster. Cuddy remembers what he was like when they broke up. Somehow, House never met her. 2001-2003 - somewhere during this time, Wilson married Julie. 2004 - we met Wilson and House and the rest of the gang. Wilson was a department head. His marriage was crappy. That's a good effort, Poeia but it just strains all credibility regardless of how you try to make it fit. Seems pretty unlikely that House and Wilson would be so involved with each other that Bonnie was creating anagrams for Hector based on House's name and yet years later Wilson manages to have another go at a relationship with a wife that House never meets. (And Cuddy does?) Not to mention, the big fight between Sam and Wilson was all about what they never said to each other in their marriage, not in any weird attempt at rekindling that marriage another full decade later. This show is beyond sloppy now. How embarrassing for them.

Cuddy didn't have to meet her to know what Wilson was like after the breakup. The only way it would be plausible for House not to have met Sam is if Wilson and Bonnie split up before the infarction and he started dating Sam again when House was basically home bound during his recovery. I know it strains credulity, but if they go with that, maybe we'll learn where Wilson was at the time of the infarction.

Here is a twitter quote from Doris Egan about the timeline. "The technical term we writers use is a 'mistake.' We're going with the earlier timeline. For the sake of consistency, I say Sam compressed the time because she's getting older & can't believe it's been that long." I think I'll go with DE, because the only parts that don't really fit are Sam's few references to "ten years ago." If you you ignore those, the rest of the timeline almost works. Hector's age will always be a problem.

Thank you for the DE tweet, beckston! As a timeline junkie who managed to make sense of just about everything until a few weeks ago, I've just been getting more and more frustrated every ep since Sam appeared. That tweet definitely helps. I'd been considering trying to update my canon timeline but am holding off for now as every new episode seems to throw another curveball! :tritter:
