Maybe House threw a huge party as a distraction from his own pain. He's been known to distract himself from time to time.

waywarddone- 04-27-2009

Maybe. But he's been in pain for five years and we've never seen him through one party as a distraction. And he specifically said he is great at bachelor parties.

waywarddone- 04-27-2009

Agreed but you said he might have thrown the last party for Wilson 9 years ago after the infarction as a distraction from his own pain. If I understood your meaning. He has sure needed a distraction or two from his own pain in the past 5 years.

If I understood your meaning. He has sure needed a distraction or two in the past 5 years. What I meant by needing to distract himself is that a party is just one example of the ways House distracts himself. There's also hookers, stalking his fellows, toys, etc.

The infarction was five years before late season 1, which was 2005. So the infarction was in 2000. Nine years ago is 2000. It works. And there are other parties in the world besides bachelor's parties. House has also seen Wilson fall down a flight of stairs drunk =)

And there are other parties in the world besides bachelor's parties. House has also seen Wilson fall down a flight of stairs drunk =) I think that's cutting the time too close. We're talking about years not television seasons. Five years before 2004, when the show debuted, is 1999, 10 years ago. Either way I still find it hard to believe that House would have been physically up to throwing a wild party around the year of his infarction and end of his relationship to Stacy. YMMV.

I've always placed the infarction at 2000, because the show more-or-less (emphasis on the more-or-less) moves in real time, so late season 1 took place in the year 2005. I don't see how it's cutting close.

Playing Devil's Advocate here: Since a year has 12 months, maybe he planned the Bachelor Party in February and Had the infarction in March, or well, you get the idea. Both could have happened in 2000, the order they happened that's up to discussion and fanwank.

waywarddone- 04-27-2009

But the infarction could have just as easily took place in 1999. Six of one half of the other. :) Also interesting that Bonnie never mentioned House's infarction as part of his need for Wilson. It seemed Bonnie and Wilson were long done before the infarction happened.

But the infarction could have just as easily took place in 1999. Six of one half of the other. :) Also interesting that Bonnie never mentioned House's infarction as part of his need for Wilson. It seemed Bonnie and Wilson were long done before the infarction happened. That's what I got from the timeline mention of the bachelor party. I concluded that Wilson eloped with the 3rd wife in 2000 after the infarction, which means Wilson was married to Wife #3 for 6 or 7 years. It appears Wilson was married to Bonnie before the infarction. So House always needing Wilson had to do with something other than House physical disability.

Namaste- 04-28-2009

The marriage to Bonnie may have been post-infarction, and I, for one, have no problem believing that House's leg would not have stood in the way (so to speak) of him drinking and hanging out with strippers. Don't forget that in addition to the comment about the bachelor party being 9 years ago, there was also the comment in "Saviors" that House has been stealing Wilson's food for 10 years ... which would fall in line with the timeline that Wilson had to pick up the pieces after Stacy left which could easily include letting House mooch food off of him. So they met in New Orleans when Wilson was a newly minted doctor, in the midst of divorce number one. Shortly before the infarction, House tells Wilson about the opening at PPTH. (Perhaps Wilson met Bonnie just before taking the job, hence House not knowing where they went on their first date -- Newark or Boston.) Then the infarction, Stacy leaving and Wilson's second marriage take place within a period of about 2 years or so, give or take. The marriage with Bonnie doesn't last long (leading to House's comment to Wilson about his "sprinting through" three marriages), Wilson elopes with Julie sometime say a year or so prior to the pilot. The only thing that doesn't fit, really, is the Hector timeline, but then I never bought into the Hector timeline. I'm not getting hung up on whether the infarction was '99 or 2000, or late 99 or early 2000 or what have you. I'm just looking at the general flow of things and can let the details float where they may.

It appears Wilson graduated school from medical school in 1991, based on his conversation with 13 in Lockdown. In the Down Low, when Wilson complains to House "everyone in our building thinks we're gay." House replies, "we're two men over 30 who moved in together . . . ." The DL aired in January, a month before RSL's birthday (02/1969). I always thought the way House phrased that was interesting. He could have said "we're two men over 40" but he didn't. In Private Lives, Wilson said he did the non-porno porno movie to help out his college roommate. If Wilson is the same age as RSL, then Wilson must have turned 40 in February. It appears was 22 when he graduated from medical school. Here;s my question, how old was Wilson when he made the non-porno porno film?

Namaste- 04-26-2010

Except medical school is after college, and unless he really was a boy genius, he would have graduated from college at age 21 or 22, then gone on to medical school. More likely he finished med school (depending on whether you include a year as an intern) at age 25 to 26. I've often been of the mind that Wilson is older than RSL.

Poeia- 04-26-2010

This HAS to be the third time around for Sam and Wilson. I thought I'd given up on the idea but, unless it's true, everything is impossible. If they were divorced 10 years ago, in Birthmarks, Wilson said that he "was fresh out of med school" when he and House met and they met when Sam's lawyer sent divorce papers. Tonight they repeated that was 10 years ago. So... 2000 - Wilson graduated med school; Wilson & Sam divorced 2001-2003 (somewhere in there) – Wilson married and divorced Bonnie. On their honeymoon they adopted the puppy Hector who was 17 in 2007. 2004 - Wilson was director of oncology department and married to Julie. ~~~~~ If they broke up for the second time 10 years ago, Late 1980s - Wilson graduated from med school. He and Sam divorced. Wilson and House met. 1990 - Wilson married Bonnie. They adopted Hector. mid-1990s - House told Wilson about an opening at PPTH. He & Bonnie moved to Princeton. circa 2000 - Wilson and Sam try dating again. It was a disaster. Cuddy remembers what he was like when they broke up. Somehow, House never met her. 2001-2003 - somewhere during this time, Wilson married Julie. 2004 - we met Wilson and House and the rest of the gang. Wilson was a department head. His marriage was crappy.
