Excellent question. Also, the voting for everyone got reset to zero, I believe, when Wilson was added. How many people didn't realize that and didn't return to recast their vote? I think that Stacy was, is, and always will be House's one true love, and I voted - once - as did a few others. She was getting 4% of the vote before Wilson was added. I know she'd never come close to the other pairings, but I'm just saying...
I don't know that they actually reset the voting once they added Wilson. It's possible that once all the voting started for Wilson that whatever obviously small amount of votes Stacy had already received fell below the margin of error which on this poll is 2%. The tally never adds up to more than 98% and if it does its only temporary as one person gains 1% and another losses 1%.
What I can't believe is the damn poll is Still Up! I guess it's staying until new shows air but its already been like 3 weeks.
Not that I've checked
Lully, I have no doubt that House/Wilson won that other poll to which you refer, as I remember reading about it. House/Wilson is, indeed, a vocal segment of the fanbase. filex1410, you might be right that the number of votes fell below the margin of error. I just found it surprising that polls in which people can vote more than once and can create voting macros for are taken so seriously.
Truly. That we take the show "serious" enough to spend the time, thought and energy here and other places posting comparisons of how we all analysis the show, discussing what has happen, what it means, what will happen next, lauding our favorite characters and actors, defending our ships, etc. probably also seems silly to a lot of folks, and it is, but those of us that do enjoy it.
I don't think polls are taken "seriously" in the sense that it matters or will effect what happens on the show. I think when they pop up every year or so the fan base looks at it as a bit of fun competition over inconsequential "bragging rights".
I'll admit I thought it was great that when Wilson wasn't in the first round of choices on the TVG poll a bunch of e-mails were sent, it was changed and then let the game begin! As someone described it somewhere it quickly became their favorite team sport. It was like a bowling league, not important at all but an amusing way to pass some time and see who "wins". :D
Knowing it’s nutty, that’s part off the appeal. Though clearly not everyone's cup of tea.
Re. the macros I always read how different factions are using them and all and sometimes %s change in one fell swoop but the vote always seem to more or less follow the same outcome whether it’s possible to use them or not so I'm not so sure people bother to make even that much of an effort and if its available to everyone then it amounts to the same thing which group gets its freak on in enough numbers, for enough time, to get the high number.

I know MY family and friends think I'm a bit crazy due to the time I spend analyzing the show! :-)

Oh, I agree - and I'm just as guilty as anyone else because I did, indeed, vote for my ship (House/Stacy) even knowing how unpopular it is. :) I didn't mean to imply that it was silly for us to get caught up in the FUN - I just had a bad experience elsewhere (read Fox Forum) with someone being very nasty because I mentioned that people can and do vote more than once. It was more the anger and hostility of that fan that surprised me. A fandom should be fun, right?

Yes, indeed! I didn't even know one *could* (or would bother) make a macro for that, but, then again, I'm not very computer-savvy.
And I DID think it was wrong, wrong, wrong that Wilson was left out the first time!

Oww Fox Forum, all I know of that place is what I have read from others like you brave enough to sally forth in there, that it can be quite scary, like Central Park after Dark, best to stay clear. :)
Absolutely fun, that's why we're all here.
And I DID think it was wrong, wrong, wrong that Wilson was left out the first time! Sing it!
Hi! I bring news of a poll at E! online which includes House/Wilson as a ship. Shocking, I know! Anyway, if you want to vote for your favorite ship go to:
http://uk.eonline.com/uberblog/watch_with_kristin/b23721_house_love_debate_cameron_cuddy_wilson.html
You can choose between House/Cuddy, House/Cameron and House/Wilson. :D
As
ixtab posted in the RSL thread, he's been nominated by Entertainment Weekly for overlooked best supporting actor.
He's in 2nd place right now.
Vote hereI have no idea what made me check out Hello Magazine. They've changed their layout and I had to search for the "Most Attractive Man" poll. It turns out, Hugh won a weekly poll in September and is now ahead in the monthly poll.
Vote Here
I'm going to post one notice in the Hugh Laurie thread. Other than that, please remember that all discussion of on-line polls belongs over here so we don't spam/annoy the people who aren't interested.
Just voted for Hugh, although I paused a second cuz I really like Daniel Craig too. Hugh is WAY ahead at the moment - embarrassed to say I don't even know who the runner up is, Gerard Butler, though he does look good!
Parade Magazine, they of the What do People Earn issues, has a sort-of online poll going on in which they list various celebs and the amounts of money they make and ask people to vote on whether or not they deserve it. Hugh is included in the poll, and only 35% think he's worth his $400,000 per episode. Blasphemy! But have no fear, that 35% figure is actually quite good compared to what people think of what the other celebs in the poll rake in each year. If you want to vote for Hugh, or any of the others, here's the link:
http://www.parade.com/news/what-people-earn/are-they-worth-it?index=19
(Hugh is number 19 of 20 in the list)
People's Choice Online Buzz Polls has this:
Time for the truth: your House M.D. ship -- (I know there are many-many more of them... sorry if you can't find yours. I was trying to choose the 3 most popular ones.)
Hameron (House & Cameron)
Huddy (House & Cuddy)
Houcy (House & Stacy)
Houcy???????? House and Stacy is one of the three most popular House ships????? Now, three years after she left the show?????
Give me a break!
ETA: The poll is created by a visitor, not by the site.
The People's Choice Awards have nominated House as favorite drama and Hugh as favorite male TV star. One vote per browser per day, unless you want to get rid of those pesky cookies, in which case, vote early and often.
www.pcavote.com/60 plus put a link in the media thread to an article on TV's best bromances, and there's a poll
here. House and Wilson are are 9.6%, I believe JD and Turk from 'Scrubs' is winning.
Technically, this isn't a poll.
IMDB's StarMeter Top 25 of 2008
Hugh isn't there. I don't expect him to be #1 (that's Johnny Depp), but he belongs ahead of some of those people.
I know I rarely go to his page any longer -- I have so many of the links in my browsing history. In 2009, my search behavior shall change.
Manu posted this in the Media thread and I moved it over here:
Vote for E!'s Best TV of 2008. House is down for Best Drama and House/Cuddy kiss for Best Heartfelt Moment.
