Wilson's performance is certainly impressive. And cool. *g* Considering the conversation we had on the hoyay thread about the assumptions these mainstream sites may be making about the conservative views of the majority of their users, I think that's really wonderful. The same day that folks were writing into Ausiello, there was a story on the front page of TVGuide.com on a controversy about the soap opera As the World Turns, which actually has a gay male couple among their characters...who have yet to kiss, or anything else, on screen. Naturally, lots of fans are not amused! However, there were people posting comments to the TV Guide story saying that they'd *never* want to see that, as well as the "Hell, yeah, I wanna see snogging" comments. TV Guide really draws all kinds, because TV draws all kinds (although I suspect those reading up on House may not be that conservative, just due to the nature of the show).

Luke and Noah have kissed. Twice. They have been together since August, there haven't been any on-screen kisses since, I believe, September. All couples on the show got to kiss on-screen on Valentine Day, except for Luke and Noah, who got to hug. Yes, not amused.

I am quite pleased at how well Wilson did in the poll. I know it's kind of a long shot, but wouldn't it be nice if TPTB took this as an indication that maybe--just possibly--the great majority of their target audience are, if not squeefully enthusiastic, at least OKAY with the idea of a the lead character getting involved in a same-sex entanglement? (I say 'entanglement' because considering that it's House we're talking about, I'm sure it would be like pulling teeth to get him to admit he's in a real relationship with *anyone*). I think it would be great if House could do in America what Torchwood has done in the UK. The lead man was portrayed as basically pansexual right from the start--and wouldn't you know it, a surprisingly large number of fans wanted to see him get together with one of his MALE co-stars, one with whom he'd shared many "special moments," but nothing explicitly sexual, at least not onscreen. TPTB of Torchwood decided to give the viewing public what it wanted. And the pair remains the shows most popular "ship." Sorry if that's a little OT, but I think it's high time an American show followed suit, and polls like this one do offer some indication that House/Wilson could be the perfect "couple" to test those waters.

They know the poll is unscientific and that people were allowed to vote multiple (multiple) times. I think what they will learn from this is that a segment of their core fanbase is avidly in favor of this pairing and that they are at least as ardent about it as the House/Cameron clique are. I doubt they planned to drop the Hoyay anyway, but it's a good reminder from them that it is an important element of the show.

I think the biggest victory here is that they added Wilson to the poll to begin with.

I think the biggest victory here is that they added Wilson to the poll to begin with. This is true. If, for some reason, they do hear about the "struggle" to get Wilson on, they'll at least have an inclination that House/Wilson is more than just some inside joke. People take it seriously.

And serious people vote. :) Wilson wins with 60%! Cameron 36% Cuddy 2% 13 & Stacy 0 I'm actually gratified. Who needs a life.

girl_from_the_bus_stop- 04-09-2008

Who needs a life. LOL. I know. I have been voting non-stop for days...

Lully- 04-09-2008

Awww... we certainly have a very good life, filey!! :D I came here to ask when the poll would be closed... And I agree that our biggest victory was to include Wilson on that poll. Priceless...

onspeeeed- 04-09-2008

Now the interesting question is, what would the % have been w/out the seriously HARDCORE of ANY SHIP voting again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again . . .? Would Wilson still have edged out both Cuddy and Cam? Because even most of the casual viewers I know take it for granted that House loves Wilson on SOME LEVEL, and they always seem to land on "undecided" when discussing whether or not there is or ever will be a female character who can compete with his relationship with Wilson . . . so, brining it back to the poll results, how much of that 60% do you think would still be there without our excessive voting?

galaxygirl- 04-09-2008

I believe that the poll on TV Guide last year, the one that you could only vote once, was won by Wilson as well.

Lully- 04-09-2008

Yes, you right. I don't remember the exact numbers, but he won easily.

Awww... we certainly have a very good life, filey!! :D I came here to ask when the poll would be closed... And I agree that our b biggest victory was to include Wilson on that poll. Priceless...We certainly do Lully, in all it's H/W glory. :) I was hoping the poll would close today. Ass-iello updates stuff on his page on Wednesdays so I thought the poll was done. But there was a fluctuation of the vote this evening, W went down to 59 but he's back at 60. So I hope that's it. I welcome a new poll, something about Lost so I can get just that. I also agree with you,GG and Chipper that getting Wilson added was the biggest victory, but I'm still glad he smoked them all. And I also remember the registered poll I don't recall the final numbers either but Wilson did win that one. So he's got quite the winning streak. Great point that almost no viewer doubts that House and Wilson love one another, even if its just as friends. And while a lot of people talk about not being sure if House should wind up with anyone they always want he and Wilson to still be together.

Now the interesting question is, what would the % have been w/out the seriously HARDCORE of ANY SHIP voting again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again . . .? Would Wilson still have edged out both Cuddy and Cam? Excellent question. Also, the voting for everyone got reset to zero, I believe, when Wilson was added. How many people didn't realize that and didn't return to recast their vote? I think that Stacy was, is, and always will be House's one true love, and I voted - once - as did a few others. She was getting 4% of the vote before Wilson was added. I know she'd never come close to the other pairings, but I'm just saying... ;) Of course, all online polls are only testing a segment of the fanbase, but it would be a little bit more accurate if people could only vote once.

Lully- 04-15-2008

Daisy, last year there was a poll on TG where you could only vote once and - if I recall correctly... - you had to register to be able to vote. I don't remember if one of the options was Stacy - I think it was - but Wilson won quite easily.
