17. Cuddy’s motherhood storyline / Rachel Cuddy - Rachel's grandparents took her back Cuddy looks up from Rachel (who is happily playing in her lap) as she hears the knocking at her door. The moment she had been dreading has arrived. Even though she had known this moment was coming for three weeks now (ever since she had received the phone call) she hadn’t wanted to believe it would really come. They had been so polite when they called, thanked her for everything she had done, and even promised to keep Rachel’s name the same, but they wanted their granddaughter back and they were willing to fight for her. Cuddy had considered trying to fight for Rachel at first but as her lawyers had pointed out the fight could have gone on for years and she stood a very real chance of losing Rachel anyway. She could not do that to Rachel. So doing her best to hold back the tears for just a little while longer she gives Rachel a final kiss and hands her beautiful baby girl over to her grandparents. And even though they say it is not necessary Cuddy insists that she will have Rachel’s stuff shipped to them sometime next week. She watches their car until it drives out of site, and then after closing the door she slowly slides to the floor and cries. She knows she can not do this again.

He’d gotten Danny into a nice place and they were beginning to build a relationship again. Best of all, he’d met a woman. She was a nurse – a nurse’s aide, actually – at the hospital that ran Danny’s group home. On Saturdays, Wilson’s day to visit Danny, she’d stop by to deliver meds and pick up paperwork.
