The Oscars 2010
Are you ready for some Oscars? Fashion, weepy winners, awkward speeches and 8 million reaction shots of Jack Nicholson wearing his sunglasses indoors? Whooooooo!

galaxygirl- 03-07-2010

I'm sooo ready!! I'm writing my predictions list right now on my LJ. George C in a tux, doesn't get much better than that.

fffaw- 03-07-2010

I do love some George in a tux. Lovely, yummy man. I went to an Oscar pool party on Friday night, so I've got all my stuff down on paper. I should mention for all the So You Think You Can Dance fans out there, Adam Shankman is producing the Oscars this year and many of the SYTYCD kids will be dancing: Travis, Jakob, Kupono, Katherine, Russell, Noelle, Ellenore, Jamie, Kayla, Legacy, etc. so it will be fun to try to spot them.

Predicitions (off the top of my head) Mo'Nique-Best Supporting Actress Jeff Bridges-Best Actor (tho, the movie was trite-he was awesome--I knew Bad Blake, once upon a time) Hurt Locker-Best Picture Kathryn Bigelow-Best Director James Cameron-Cries like a little girl and stomps out of the Kodak Theatre all pissed off Sandra Bullock-The Blind Side (tho, I would love to hear what Gabourey Sidibe would say in her acceptance speech. She is my best friend...in my mind!) Up-Best Animated Picture

James Cameron-Cries like a little girl and stomps out of the Kodak Theatre all pissed off I would pay money to see that happen. He's already started the damage control by saying that they are going to give it to Kathryn because she's a woman.

I agree with all your picks except possibly Avatar taking Best Picture. I think Hurt Locker SHOULD win, but they may give it to Cameron as a consolation prize. Also Christoph Waltz for Best Supporting Actor. I really wish Gabby (we're besties in my mind too!) would win, but I think Sandra will get it. I like her as a person, she seems like a decent, down to earth lady. I feel sorry for the people up against Mo'Nique because she seems unstoppable. And she deserves it. She will give a fantastic speech. I'm really interested to see what designer Gabby is wearing. Did you hear about the whole Marchesa kerfuffle? I was giving mad props to Marchesa for dressing her - only to find out that it wasn't the truth. I know who definitely WON'T be dressing her - Vassilos Kostestos! (Sorry, a joke between me and cuddyclothes - she'll be revealing VK's opinions on larger women in an upcoming column, I'm sure). He's already started the damage control by saying that they are going to give it to Kathryn because she's a woman. Ugh. Totally douchey on his part. Bah.

How 'bout the Oscars goes to anyone but a giant dickwad assnozzle? How 'bout that, huh, James?

sautomne- 03-07-2010

I'm totally pumped for the Oscars. I know it will be long and boring like every other year, but I'll sit through the whole thing. It's a yearly ritual. If Christopher Waltz doesn't win, I'll cry like a baby. He was the best thing about Inglorious Basterds. I would so like Jeff Bridges to win. I think this would be his first Academy Award. Also, I may say that man just gets better looking with age.

galaxygirl- 03-07-2010

Yeah, I think it's Jeff's 5th nomination and would be his first win. He does look great, I thought he even looked good with a bald head and a beard in Iron Man. I'm hardcore about my Oscar watching, I used to sit through this thing in the middle of the night watching the live telecast on the BBC and when the BBC lost the rights a few times, I kept track through CNN reporting winners(before I had internet, Shakespeare in Love won), a live blog-like site that announced winners almost live(Chicago won) and the last time I missed it, it was broadcast live on the radio(Million Dollar Baby won), which was interesting as well. My first time watching was when Forrest Gump won. I'm getting old.

fffaw- 03-07-2010

I think it's so nice that Suzy Amis is aging naturally. She looks great.

galaxygirl- 03-07-2010

Joel Madden looks like a giant douche. Mariah seemed to be dressed in something that fit and I liked Anna Kendrick's dress.

I don't typically care about the Oscars, but I am rooting for Sandra Bullock this year. I don't think I have the patience to watch the show just to see if she wins though.

galaxygirl- 03-07-2010

Sandra Bullock's lipstick doesn't match the rest of the look. Diane Kruger's dress was fug.

sautomne- 03-07-2010

The pre-show is just so cringe inducing that I have to turn the sound down.

fffaw- 03-07-2010

I'm watching the Barbara Walters special. Mo'Nique is awesome - unapologetic about her life and choices. Good for her. Barbara looked more shocked and repulsed that Mo doesn't shave her legs than Mo talking about sexual abuse and her open marriage. Oy.
