So when is it supposed to air on BBCA? (I haven't gone looking for a download yet, but if there's too much of a delay I will.) I think December 19th-ish? I wonder what would the Doctor would have done had the episode not ended how it did? Drunk on such power, where else would he go? What laws would he break? The Time War? Rose? Donna's mind?

I appreciated Adelaide doing what needed to be done although it must have been hard for her. That's what snapped Ten back into reality.

radiosweetheart- 11-16-2009

I appreciate what Adelaide did, but I don't know if it was hard for her. Say you've just been instantaneously transported from Mars and certain doom to your house. Some crazy person is telling you he controls the world and is in charge of time. A minute ago you thought you were going to die. But you're not dead...or are you? Do you wander around like Sam Tyler to figure out if what you're experiencing is real or a nightmare or do you go straight to the finale and jump? Consider that the mad man is told you your death was the catalyst for scientific advances for centuries. Killing yourself would be the easy way out, wouldn't it?

fffaw- 11-16-2009

I guess, but also, the ability to spend time with your children and grandchildren. She so wanted to live when they were on Mars. She's was fighting for any way to save herself and her crew. I guess it was just a question of her commitment to doing what was right, whatever the case.

Agreed on the intensity and darkness. I think they really had to take 10 to this point considering how easily he seemed to find playing with the fates there for a while. Donna Noble held him back, and without some human contact -- not necessarily human, but you know ... mortal -- he risks becoming as mad as the Master. FYI, the schedule for part one of the Christmas Special for BBC America came out. It'll air on Dec. 26. Yay!

Doh! I feel like such an idiot. I just found out that Carey Mulligan who is up for a Golden Globe and seems like a shoo in for an Oscar nod for her role in "An Education" played Sally Sparrow in "Blink." I never put two and two together - the short dark hair threw me off. I loved her as Sally Sparrow, so hooray!

So who -- or what -- is Wilf? (Or have you folks in the UK already seen the second part? We don't get it until next Saturday.) Also I'm amused to see Nina from "Being Human" turn up as one of the green aliens.

So who do I talk to about covering those therapy bills for seeing/imagining John Simm in drag 3.35 billion times over? (Or have you folks in the UK already seen the second part? We don't get it until next Saturday.) I think they get it next week too. But, half of my reactions to this were either "Awwww," or "WTF???" So who -- or what -- is Wilf? Good question. We know he was a soldier, and that he never killed anyone while fighting. We know that his granddaughter and the Doctor had some bond, but knowing RTD, he's going to shift it so that the bond was to Wilf and not just Donna. We know he's always watching the stars, but for what we don't know. Speculation: perhaps a Time Lord who had "fallen" to Earth at some point and never remembering who he really was. Someone somewhere else speculated that the woman in white was the White Guardian. AZ - you don't need to white out speculation. xo Fid.

It was a whole lot of setup, wasn't it? But the idea of the Time Lords as the Big Bad would be interesting. The old Who had multiple run-ins with them, so it certainly plays into Christopher Eccleston's Nine that was living with so much guilt -- not only because he was responsible for their death, but also his tormented relationship with them in the first place. I'd run across that speculation, and I'm not quite sure if I'm on board with it. My own is that perhaps Wilf was somehow related to a former companion or the other? Recall that on Torchwood, we've got Gwen Cooper who is "linked" with the rift, dating back to her predecessor who we saw during the Dickens episode. So they do have a precedent for a lasting link of some kind to the Doctor. Now I wonder if we'll ever see the Sara Jane Adventures here in which David Tennant makes an appearance, just so we can have one last addendum of Ten. No need to white out speculation - Fid

I watch DW also and wow the last episode really.. well I love newWho but is it wrong for me to say it seemed a bit 'much'? I was laughing at the master race (and him in the dresses) and whenever he started to fly.. I suppose it really was an amazing episode except for the few things that made me think it was *too* crazy. The ending was interesting, I am a newwho fan, seen a few of the old eps, but just can't get into them. So seeing Gallifrey and learning about it will be really interesting/new/fun for me. I'm surprised the preview for the next episode didn't show hints to the 'big event' coming up. I think everyone knows who is leaving the show by now.. would have guessed they would play it up. And I am really happy Wilf is having his time, I always imagined my grandfathers would be like him if I knew them. I really hope the explantion of how he is connected does him justice.

Bingo Cards!! They're pretty brilliant. I'm trying to come up with a suitable way to celebrate the finale--Banana Daiquiris, perhaps?

I shall miss Ten. But then Tom Baker was my first doctor, and I missed him when Peter Davison took over. From there it became battle between the two of them as to who was my favorite until Christopher Eccleston. And now it's a battle between CE and David Tennant for first. (Yes, even though CE only had one season.) Also, I'm amused by the fact that we had two of the four main cast from "Being Human" show up in "End of Time" -- the captain of the salvage ship (Sinead Keenan) plays Nina on BH while of course Russell Tovey (George the werewolf on BH) is Alonzo. Fun to see Alonzo show up. And that would be how many centuries into our current future? Interesting, though that in parting, RTD not only ended his tenure with the departure of Tennant, but also trashes the set on the way out. Maybe so Steven Moffat can start with a clean slate when he steps in as show runner? ETA: And for those of you who have seen the confidential ... did RTD clear up who the woman was? I saw a review referring to her as the Doctor's mother, another implying it was Susan -- his granddaughter. Also, I loved that the knocking four times and the death was actually Wilf. How Doctor like that the sacrifice is for someone so seemingly inconsequential, yet so human.

I'm going to miss David as the Doctor so much, though I have to admit I'm very excited to see him in Rex is Not Your Lawyer. It seemed Matt Smith's first 30 seconds as the Doctor were spent doing a DT impression, but I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt (and not judge a whole series based on one scene) and enthusiastically await the arrival of Series 5. ETA: And for those of you who have seen the confidential ... did RTD clear up who the woman was? I saw a review referring to her as the Doctor's mother, another implying it was Susan -- his granddaughter. I don't recall that he did. I've heard elsewhere that it may have been Romana, former companion and fellow Time Lord. I really like the idea that it was a former companion (Susan or Romana) protecting him and ultimately guiding him throughout this process, given how absolutely vital the relationships with the companions have been to the Doctor in the New Who.

LightMyCandle- 01-02-2010

I didn't get to see the whole thing yet, only parts but I was so happy to see Alonzo again. He was easily my favorite part of Voyage of the Damned. I love DT and I'll miss him (I'll really miss his hair) but I'm looking forward to Matt Smith. And does anyone have any explanation as to Martha/Mickey, because...WFT?

radiosweetheart- 01-03-2010

There were millions of rumors that Martha & Mickey were going to be together and they were all debunked as ridiculous. I'm inclined to think it was a nod to the rumor mill. "Yeah, you thought you were really funny didn't you? Well, you were right...now figure out how it happened since they'd never even met before." I'm going to miss Ten so much it's silly. But I know Doctor Who is about loss, so, I'll roll with it and give l'il Matty Smith a chance. I trust Moffatt, I'm sure he knows what he's doing. Romana went off into e-Space when she left the Doctor--that would explain the "I was lost" comment. If you accept the novels as canon, then Romana was on the high council of Timelords during the Time War, so the woman could easily be Romana. But tipping the hat with the reveal might have ruined possible plots down the line-so it's better to leave it to nerd speculation. (BTW-all info verified by Wikipedia, because I haven't quite committed every piece of Doctor Who info to memory just yet)
