Oh dear Lord, I love River. (And now that I've seen the finale, I can post in here. Yay!)
So if Russell T. Davis brought us (beyond the regular companions) Capt. Jack Harkness, Moffatt has brought us River Song. And I'm sorry, but I think I favor River. (It doesn't hurt that Alex Kingston is a stronger actor, in my opinion -- sorry Jack fans.)
Is the finale full of plot holes and the like? Sure, but I love the thought -- which is purely the mind set of a writer -- that it's a story that creates life. The story of Pandora's Box lives on long after its original teller. Cleopatra was real, but the stories told about her make her live. We are memories and DNA.
And I'm so pleased as well to have both Amy and Rory on this journey. It makes for an interesting dynamic, I think.
Alex is a stronger actor by far, and I like her. But Cap'n Jack has so much charisma, he is truly a giddy joy, so whoever is on my screen will be fine. River always seems to have the "I know something you don't" thing going on which can be mighty annoying, but the fun of The Big Bang was good and I have Rory back so am hoping for lots of fine fun ahead. Hopefully that can happen without dissing my Doctor Ten as that is where my fondness ultimately lies. :-)
I am amused to notice that the notes to Amelia were written with a red pen -- as was Amy's time jumping note to the Doctor in "The Lodger."

The BBC and our dear Uncle Moff have announced that
the next series of Doctor Who will be a split transmission, with one block of the series airing in the spring and the the second in the fall.
Here's hoping that the big plot twist isn't killing off Rory. Again.
If he does that. Again. I will personally hunt him down like a dog and severely place the TARDIS in a place where the sun don't shine. Hmph!
So, excitement of excitements, Matt Smith is going to be on The Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson this Tuesday the 16th!! According to Twitter, Craig plans on making it a Doctor Who Special. :D
CraigyFerg! My love for him is almost enough to warrant a restraining order.
IO9 has some
excerpts from the DVD including "meanwhile in the TARDIS clips" meant to show what happens between the shows.
I just watched Matt Smith on CraigyFerg. He was lovely. I just wanted to squish him. I always want to squish Ferguson.
But who was that American guy? Obnoxious Fanboy Alert. I just wanted Craig to slap him when he said, "Hey Matt Smith. I'm such a huge fan. You can sleep with my girlfriend if you want!"
Chris Hardwick? He's an actor, DJ, and comedian and now a contributor to Wired Magazine. He also has a blog and podcast called
Nerdist. Chris is on The Late, Late Show a lot, and he and Craig always talk about Doctor Who. The reason they were talking about Chris's girlfriend is because Matt will be on the Nerdist podcast released this Monday.
BBCAmerica will air the Christmas Special on Christmas Day. First time ever we get it the same day as the Brits (though a few hours later. I can certainly live with that, especially since I won't be near my TV or BBCA until the next day.)
