Poeia- 10-03-2007

Don't forget that House wants/needs/thinks he needs: someone to agree with everything he says someone to disagree with everything he says someone to be morally outraged by everything he says I think either #13 or #24 could fill the Foreman role. I love the idea of his hiring Scooter to be his assistant. While Scooter couldn't run any medical procedures, he could add intellecutally to the DDX. And he would keep House's paperwork up-to-date so we wouldn't be in the position of having one of the fellows acting as secretary. Oh, and for all House's pretense that he doesn't know their names and that he is treating the process cavalierly, he obviously isn't. He's been doing background checks. That's how he knew Scooter isn't a doctor.

I had assumed it would be AD, EG, and PJ, but now I'm not so sure, because throughout the summer even when I went through a period of not really caring I kept hearing about Anne Dudek. I'm guessing EG will stick around because House asked all those questions of him, and maybe OW because she obviously has a secret House needs to get at. No one was interrogating AD, or PJ, so who knows if they're at all significant or not? The only reason I go with OW over AD is strictly because OW has more name and face recognition than AD and I really don't see them hiring two women. I see them going with one woman and one man and I just see OW edging out AD because of who she is. And that's not to disparage her because I actually *like* her, I just think that's the way it's going. I like them both and they're both good at the roles that they're given, but OW just has the higher profile. Honestly, other than just the fact that if they got KP as a regular they'd be lucky because he's pretty awesome, I feel the same way about him. He's more well known than any of the five that are getting the most press, so if they made it work I imagine that his name is on a contract as we all type.

Everyone's favorite n00b+hotness= OTP my duty to ask that you change the pics to a link to the picturesFixed that (just) for you radiosweets ;) 6/9 might fill the "agree with everything" role, with a dash of "does it go to 11?" I wonder what Wilson's take on Scooter will be. To avoid the 80's mention of bands best forgot, I'm thinking of the #'s as Blueprints, since they're not cottages yet and House isn't committed to them yet. Other names? ETA: Unknown #s Meera Simhan Meera is #32. I've had a crush on her since spoiler pics were out.

radiosweetheart- 10-03-2007

As much as I agree with your hypothesis there Sansy-it is my duty to ask that you change the pics to a link to the pictures. Or else I shall be forced to delete and put in little smiley emoticons that somehow will manage to say the same thing but totally fail at getting the point across. And that would require me having a thought-Do you want that to happen?

407- 10-03-2007

6/9 might fill the "agree with everything" role, with a dash of "does it go to 11?" Ooh, yes please. Hmm. The only n00b that I didn't like is gone now (#2, urgh) so... yeah, I'm ok. OW and AD's characters... well, they didn't bug me too much. I have no problem with them. My favourites have to be 6/9, Plastic Surgeon Guy and Scooter. I miss hott number 10, but ok. As long as the favourites don't leave *wibble*

iamdaffodils- 10-03-2007

I'm loving Scooter, Taub (Plastic Surgeon Guy) and 6/9. I want to kick the arses of 13 and Anne Dudek's character (26?). What is it with this show and their ability to write amazingly annoying women characters? I was peeved that cute number 10 got fired so quickly. Totally agree about 10, 13 and 26. I was so hoping House would have fired 26. Especially when she smiled about 6/9 getting fired. And as to why this show is so good at writing annoying women characters - I think that's the question that can never be answered, but if there was an Emmy given for that - they'd have the lock on it. I just want to add my Scooter love. I really hope he takes the secretary/assistant job even though it's not his dream. Since I *am* a secretary when House was offering him that job - picking up his dry cleaning, getting him coffee, and he was naturally disappointed about it, I was practically screaming at the TV, "I'll take it if he doesn't want it." Hey, I've done all those things and plenty more "not in my job description" things over the years for bosses I despised. I would be House's secretary, assistant, gopher, whatever the hell he wanted to call it, in a heartbeat. :)

DOB1234- 10-03-2007

I would be House's secretary, assistant, gopher, whatever the hell he wanted to call it, in a heartbeat. Get in line lady. I pretty much agree with the majority here. Wished 10 had been a keeper. Like 6/9, Scooter, Taub. Of the women I prefer Olivia to Dudek's character, who is a pain. We don't need anyone taking over any of the 'is a pain bits' from House. But am I confused? House is hiring 3 new fellows, but I keep hearing that only two new actors will join the show. Which is correct? Either way, since I like at least 4 of the newcomers I am going to be PO'd a few times in coming weeks as the ducklings get weeded out.

donkeykong- 10-03-2007

I pretty much agree with the majority here. Wished 10 had been a keeper. I know, 10 was super cute! When he ratted House out, I thought maybe House wouldve respected him in some way, but then he just out right fired him and i was yelling, but wait, look at his adorable hair! You love to work with men with adorable hair!

saara_zaara- 10-03-2007

You love to work with men with adorable hair! You do, absolutely, you have to have one scene at least with Chase & #10 together to compare who has the better hair (yes, I'm that shallow)! What I found so amusing about that was that we never see CC&F get fired for ratting House out to Cuddy. House changed his tune?

Sans Serif- 10-03-2007

I would be House's secretary, assistant, gopher, whatever the hell he wanted to call it, in a heartbeat. :) I first read that as "secretary, assistant, groper", iamdaffodils. Wilson might have a problem if Scooter usurped that particular responsibility.

Taiga- 10-03-2007

Blueprints! I like it. Here are the Blueprints who both mattered and remained at the end: #18 = Dr. Jeffery Cole = black Mormon. Played by Edi Gathegi (EG). #24 = Dr. Amber Volakis = blonde who faked out others at car wash to get them to leave and ratted out #10. Played by Anne Dudek (AD). #26 = Mr. Henry Dobson = old guy nicknamed Scooter who's not a doctor. Played by Carmen Argenziano (CA). #39 = Dr. Chris Taub = short plastic surgeon. Played by Peter Jacobson (PJ). #13 = Dr. Thirteen = brunette who seems suspiciously Mary Sue-like. Played by Olivia Wilde (OW). #6/9 = Dr. Lawrence Kutner = darkskinned guy who set patient on fire and was fired and then unfired. Played by Kal Penn (KP). I'm predicting that Thirteen will stay and Volakis will leave because this show loves brunettes. I hope Dobson stays. Like SS, I wonder how Wilson would react to House making another friend.

LightMyCandle- 10-03-2007

this show loves brunettes. Does that mean they'll give Cammie the boot? I'm sorry that was way off-topic. I still don't get the big deal about Scooter. Everyone seems to love him and I don't want him hanging around forever, or very long at all. If he winds up staying, I'll be ticked. He doesn't interest me, he hasn't earned my sympathies, and there's obviously nothing physically attractive about him so, yeah buh bye Scooter as far as I'm concerned.

misere- 10-03-2007

I still don't get the big deal about Scooter. Everyone seems to love him and I don't want him hanging around forever, or very long at all. I like him because he has gumption. He's taking a massive risk at an age when most people are ready to retire. It might sound hokey, but the fact that he can still dream big after what seems like a lifetime of disappointment is really endearing. That being said, I don't think keeping him would fit with the formula of the show. The old ducklings performed numerous procedures each episode, and I assume that the new ducklings will continue to fill that function like they did in yesterday's episode. Scooter obviously can't do that, so he can only contribute in the DDX sessions. That's a waste of air time and a character. I'm sure that I will enjoy his interactions with House for however long they last, but he's ultimately unnecessary.

Bedawyn- 10-03-2007

*grins in agreement with the comparisons between Chase and 10* Perhaps that's why he had to go? Not room for Chase, Wilson, and #10 in the hospital staff's fantasies? The universe might explode from that much prettiness together (or maybe just House). #10's hotness notwithstanding, I also loved his (one significant) line: It's all a joke, all a test, and he does want us to do it. Pretty on-target description of House for someone who's just met him. the final three (to allegedly be cut to a finale two) Maybe this is a clue that there will be only two new fellows and the third an assistant? Or that one of the old fellows will be coming back. I could live with either. I'm really looking forward to seeing House and Wilson seriously discuss Scooter's situation. If they don't show us that scene in canon, someone really needs to write it. I didn't think House was saying he would make Scooter do all the secretarial work, just that that would be his official job description. I suspect he'd make sure the new fellows got their share of grunt work, to keep them from getting uppity. And in addition to clerical work and differential-ing, there's probably a lot more he could reasonably do, if we go by the idea that House has always made his doctors do much of the grunt work that lab techs, nurses, and orderlies would normally do. Plus, if he's worked for decades in an admissions office, he's probably a pretty good people person and good at seeing past the facades they present, so he'd be a good choice for talking to patients and their families. Nobody would dismiss him as being too young or too hot to be taken seriously. Still, much as I'd love to see him stick around, his character lacked a certain snap to it, making me things he's a goner. In the ep thread, this came up: he lacked the requisite stamina to keep up with House as evidenced by the funny nap sequence which I thought was a good call. I actually wondered if that nap hinted at some medical problem that, like the POTW, would take him out of the running.

vitawash99- 10-03-2007

I'm kind of meh on Scooter myself. He's a neat idea, but it's a neat idea that could turn into dead weight pretty easily. That said, he's the only one I'd want to see House let down gently, you know? Everybody else can just get canned.
