The Mommy Cuddy Storyline: How Should It End?
Don't vote for what you think will happen, vote for what you want to happen. A crack option I didn't add is House demanding Cuddy choose between the baby and him, Cuddy choosing him and dumping the baby back in the crack house she found her in, and having passionate sex with House on her desk. Personally I don't want the "Cuddy has trouble managing her career and raising a child and thinks she sucks at both" option, but TV writers seem to think mothers must have massive guilt complexes if they work outside the home.

I want them to let her have the baby and be happy with it, but I don't want to see it every week. Just let it be part of who she is and something we hear about every once in a while, but not something we have to see in great detail.

Complete ditto to extra_cat's post. I would like very occasional baby hijinks (because there are some fun times to be had with baby-related things), but not a "tenth character" on the show.

The poll results so far are very interesting. What most of us seem to want is probably not what we're going to get, on current form for the show. (In other words, I don't trust the current writers/producers with a baby.) I want to know she's a mom but I don't want that to become her identity, nor to see the baby at PPTH more than occasionally. Like we've all been saying there is too much going on right now as it is. I want the focus of the stories to return to House and what happens at the hospital, not to any character's personal life outside it. I adamantly DO NOT want any angsty or tragic consequences that will become a further drag on Cuddy's character.

I don't want to see Cuddy's Baby turned into the next point of over-focus like 13. It's already teetering on that position as it is. I don't think we need any more dragged out General Hospital... no, make that Passions-worthy drama. Let the baby have a role equivalent to Wilson's third ex-wife.

Emphasizing what we want to happen made a difference in my vote Taiga. For what I want, turns out I went with the majority: let her have her, let her be a working mom and you see the pooper every now and then, but no big drama. But I think we'll probably either get that she loses her off screen or she gets sick, maybe dies and Cuddy'll get all ferklempt. Oh that probably was mean, but you know what I mean, right? It will be the situation that determines how she reacts rather than her character, like how they've been writing her lately.

What I *want* to have happen is for Cuddy to wake up in January and figure out she had hallucinated the whole Joy to the world ep. What I *think* will happen is the baby will be gone by ep 100, how? probably grandparents will claim it

I'm with everything Extra Cat said; I really don't want the baby turning into a central character or plummeting Cuddy into more angsty melodrama. However I must say that it's extraordinary to me that those grandparents, having lost their only child, would give up that child's only daughter for adoption. As painful as losing a child would be, I can't imagine giving up a grandchild would alleviate any grief; it would only make the loss worse. And I hope the writers don't go with the cliche of making House a doting daddy for the baby. He doesn't seem the daddy type.

As painful as losing a child would be, I can't imagine giving up a grandchild would alleviate any grief; it would only make the loss worse. At the same time, they only found out about this child when they found out their daughter was dying. From then on, they would probably not be able to look at that baby without thinking about her dead mother. I don't see how that could ever be fair to the baby.

I went with the majority on this one, too, and for the same reasons that have already been given. I wouldn't mind seeing some of the last one as well because I think it's only natural that Cuddy should struggle balancing motherhood and her job, and Lisa E. is quite capable of handling the storyline.

From then on, they would probably not be able to look at that baby without thinking about her dead mother. I don't see how that could ever be fair to the baby. But I don't think they would look at their child's child and see only sad memories of the mother's death; there would be the happier memories, too. I also can't see them treating the baby resentfully or anything like that.

I voted for the baby to die. It's that annoying. They wrote her pretty much out of the show anyway, and in interviews, Lisa Edelstein has expressed little interest in following that storyline. It won't happen, but I can dream, can't I?
