The Golden Globes 2009
Is she really wearing that? Who votes for these things anyway? From the arrivals to the handing out of the last award of the evening, this is the thread to discuss the 2009 Golden Globes.

So excited for tonight! I feel like my hopes are way too high for Hugh to win, but I'm hoping :D Plus, this has been a huge movie year and I've practically seen every one, so I'm really looking forward to seeing how things turn out at all the awards this year.

Same here. For a change, I actually have a stake in several categories. In fact, I'm not sure what I'd pick in several, like Best Movie Drama.

I'll be honest and say that I don't care if HL wins another GG. I do want him to get an Emmy, though.

Poeia- 01-11-2009

On general principal, I always want Hugh to win, but I won't be upset if he doesn't (other than wanting to hear another acceptance speech from him.) I would like it if the show wins. It was nominated last year and lost. While I do think there are a lot of problems with the scripts these days, and a win would be a little sign to DS that there aren't, the cast did spectacular work in 2008, especially on House's Head/Wilson's Heart. I'd like to see that acknowledged.

I'd like to see that acknowledged. That's exactly how I feel too Poeia, I *always* want Hugh to win, but am not going to be upset - he's already got two, and it's going to be either Byrne or Hamm. No one is predicting anyone else. Got to see Hugh give 2 acceptance speeches this week, so can't be too greedy! The Emmy is the Holy Grail for him and that's the one I want so badly for him to win once before House ends its run. I'd also love for the show to win to honor the amazing HH/WH finale, and to see the whole cast up on the stage. Actually a couple of people at goldderby have predicted the show to win, but they're in the minority.

LightMyCandle- 01-11-2009

TV DRAMA ACTOR presented by Zac Efron & Hayden Panettiere Ugh, why? I'll be honest and say that I don't care if HL wins another GG. I do want him to get an Emmy, though. Yeah, I kind of agree. It would be nice to see him win, just because it's always nice to see him win, but at this point, an Emmy is what I'm really concerned with. I'd rather the show win tonight than HL.

Housewhore4- 01-11-2009

I just don't know how the Emmys could have snubbed Hugh AGAIN this year. After HH/WH, it's unbelievable. The show also deserves accolades for HH/WH and I'd like to see them win, but I still fear the "impression" that will send to the writers :? I don't want them to think everything is fine and dandy, because its not. My bets are on Slumdog Millionaire for Best Picture in a drama. I've seen all the movies, except The Reader. They all deserve it, let me tell you, but Slumdog was beyond amazing. Such a captivating movie, and so well done. But Benjamin Button, Revolutionary Road, both deserve it as well. Though I was extremely disappointed that Changeling didn't make the list, and Clint not receiving a nomination for directing. That movie was another unbelievably moving film. for Best Actor Drama, Frank Langella deserves it by far. His portrayal of Nixon was so spot on, it was ridiculous. The hardest category is probably Best Actress Drama. Angelina Jolie, Kate Winslet, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, all did a fantastic job. I personally want Angelina or Kate Winslet. I'm not really a fan of AJ, but I can't get over her in Changeling. Kate Winselt too, ugh, so hard to chose. Though based on the "slip" of Anne's name, she'll either win, or they purposely won't give it to her so it doesn't seem like they leaked the winner. Either way, controversy will arise.

House and/or HL better win b/c I'm missing 24 for this. I have no opinion on any of the movies since I haven't seen a movie in the theatre since 2005.

I saw LE on the red carpet. Jay Manuel was complimenting her black dress.

LightMyCandle- 01-11-2009

Wow, she looks great. I want a closer look but what the dress is beautiful and she just looks stunning.

iamdaffodils- 01-11-2009

Wow, she looks great. I want a closer look but what the dress is beautiful and she just looks stunning. She did look stunning, as usual! She's very early too.

misere- 01-11-2009

And being interviewed on TV Guide as I write.
