-When you are logged in you should see a link at the top of the page labeled "Profile".
-Click on the link and you'll get a page on which you can set up your preferences.
-Scroll down to the bottom of the page & you'll see "Avatar control panel". ("Avatars" are what the system calls the little pictures).
-Its best if you have the picture you want as your avatar on your computer. Click where the control panel says "Browse" & then select the picture from your hard drive. The picture needs to be fairly small - less than 100 x 100 pixels and smaller than 34 kB.
-Click Submit.
Hey, the signature I just typed in to my profile doesn't show up.
In an attempt to keep the boards tidy, HHOW does not allow signatures or photographs in posts. But links to photographs are fine!
Your smiley selection is sorely lacking. What kind of show are you people running here? I need more smileys in order to fully express my emotional state!

Where are the black spoiler bars?
You have to be a little more creative when you post a spoiler here. It's just as easy as the system you're used to, if slightly different.
Make sure it's clear you're posting a spoiler:
Spoiler example<<---SPOILER>
Make the text in between the SPOILERS white by highlighting the text and choosing white from the list of font colors.

Just take out the " " when you type.
Help - I did something to screw up the board! I posted and the page margins suddenly went all wonky.
Don't panic! It happens to all of us.
Either your post or the one immediately before it has a stray html tag. That means when you italicized or quoted something a tag got misplaced.
Use the "edit" feature to check your post and delete the extra tag if you can find it. If you can't, don't worry, the thread will re-set to the right margins on the next page, so it's not the end of the world. Report the problem here Page Gone Wonky? and one of the mods will fix it just as soon as possible.
Other Short Cuts and Helpful Hints
I hate sorting through every forum to find the latest posts.
On the top of the forum home page there is a link labeled "View posts since last visit". Click that link - and bingo, bango, you have an easy to browse list of posts since your last visit.
I'm not ready to leave just yet, but I've read all the posts!
Are you sure? Refresh the "view posts since last visit" page during your visit to the site and it will bring up the latest set of new posts you might have missed while you were discussing the newest spoilers or Chase's awful tie.
And if you bookmark the link you can go straight to this page when you come visit the site. No mucking about - just right to the interesting stuff. Dark blue threads are ones you haven't read; light blue threads are ones in which you have read all the posts.
On the thread list look for a little arrow next to an orange box - click on the box and it will take you to the beginning of the posts made since you last visited that thread.
I can't sit and watch for the latest spoilers all day. Is there an alert system to let me know when there's a new post on that thread?
At the bottom of every thread there's a link labeled "Watch this topic for replies". Click on the link at the bottom of the page and when there's a new post on that thread the board will email you an alert. It will not send you the text of the post, just a link, so click and it will bring you to the new post on the site.
Why is the board so slow?
If you can't connect to HHOW (or the system is really slow) the likely cause is a problem with the server.
We recommend you bookmark this site Forumer Server Status It'll report whether there's a problem with the server. HHOW is on forumer server 10. You can also check here HHoW Updates for more detailed information (again bookmark the page).

Check the "who is on the forum" listing first - mods are labeled in green, you'll get a faster response if you PM someone who is online.
