When Greg won they put the camera on the row where LE, OW, OE, KP, PJ were sitting. I don't remember seeing JS or JM. It was almost like watching the show ;)

Jeremy Piven is becoming that Spader person. I mean, I know he's good, but three Emmy's (in a row, even) sort of implies that he's just a powerhouse in a poor field, which is certainly not the case. Rainn Wilson is due, I tell you!

When Greg won they put the camera on the row where LE, OW, OE, KP, PJ were sitting. I don't remember seeing JS or JM. Jesse was there. Didn't notice Jennifer, but that's six people (plus Omar's wife) in two seconds, so she could have been there and I just didn't get to her. Tom Selleck looks fantastic. I let out a gasp when they announced his name and he came out. I had no idea he was presenting, but I never turn down Selleck on my television. If they wanted him to present every award, I'd be down with that. That Emmy ceremony SUCKED. I can't believe I wasted the last 3 hours of my life watching that. At least I was doing things like installing new software, etc. to keep me busy during the bulk of it. Well, I'll take the opposition, I guess. There were lulls, but it was certainly better than last year and there were a couple of bits that were probably better than almost everything that's been done in the past few years save for a couple of bits Conan busted out with. Ricky Gervais was hilarious and I loved the Groban bit. He was totally into it and I enjoyed that they didn't take the easy "top forty opera singer sings tv themes like a top forty opera singer" route and actually worked a real bit out of it. He was great. Nevermind that they came in right on time, which means things happened when they were supposed to happen and I could do other shit while watching the show. Kimmel was right in his dig towards the hosts: they were sufficient. I could have done without the opening because it went nowhere and I've heard Howie bust out the SE speak too many times over the years for that to be funny anymore, but beyond that, they didn't really do anything to offend because they didn't do much of anything at all. It would shock me to find that they had more than ten minutes between the lot of them once you removed their category from the mix. They were non existent. Loved Steve Martin and loved Tommy Smothers and Rickles cracking up Kathy Griffin was nice to see because it was just so genuine. My gripes are more towards the winners and a couple of presenters, really. I thought most of their bits fell flat. I thought Jon and Colbert's banter was forced. They're better than that. And the "Laugh In" bit dragged. There was no energy. It was as if the performers couldn't hear each other and punchlines lagged. Tina Fey's speeches were great, Cranston's was nice to hear if not particularly funny and I enjoyed that both Colbert and Baldwin left the jokey jokes, characters and politics out of it. Colbert was Stephen Colbert and Baldwin was very humble and "on message". Most of the winners totally worked for me and those I was meh on were hardly losers, they just weren't my favorites. I mean, it's tough to really come down on Glenn Close when she's Glenn fucking Close. Jeremy Piven is becoming that Spader person. I mean, I know he's good, but three Emmy's (in a row, even) sort of implies that he's just a powerhouse in a poor field, which is certainly not the case. Rainn Wilson is due, I tell you! I absolutely love Jeremy Piven and I was so glad when he won the first year. It was nice to see a guy who *is* a good actor finally get both a good character (though Trevor Hale was a great character) and props from his peers. I was even happy last year. But, it's time to move on. He's certainly *deserving* of the award he won tonight, but Rainn Wilson and Neil Patrick Harris really deserve to be standing up on that stage sooner rather than later.

He was great. The Groban bit was, hands down, my favorite moment of the night. I think I love him a little bit right now, although that will wear off tomorrow when my father starts playing his actual CDs again. I thought most of it was actually okay, although I came in an hour late and my fast forward button was in full effect. They'll never make that hosting mistake again, I suspect.

And, yes, MTM is thin, thin, thin, frail is the word. Mary Tyler Moore has had Type 1 Diabetes for close to 40 years. That takes a huge toll on the body. She's had eye damage from it and probably other complications as well. She is frail.

This is probably awful, but I've never even heard of the person who won in Hugh's category. :/

Bryan Cranston is most well-known for his role as Hal (the father) on Malcolm in the Middle. But for me, he'll always be Tim Whatley, the strange dentist on Seinfeld. A small role that encompassed 5 or 6 episodes.... but unforgettable, in my opinion. He is wonderful, and I'm happy for him that he won. But I'm also sad that Hugh didn't win.

Craig Ferguson ripped the Emmys in his monologue Monday night. Video is on cbs.com

So smarmy and strange and he probably violates people under anesthesia. Nevermind that he's only Jewish for the jokes. Awesome.

Well, it was a good start. But I rue the hours so poorly spent on that thing. Right on, Craig!
