...and I've been a fan of Susan Sullivan since her Another World days (which dates me)... THAT'S where I've seen her! I agree - when I get the chance to see it, I very much enjoy Castle. Fillion is one of my favorites to begin with, and the role suits him perfectly (or he suits the role perfectly - one of the two). While I appreciate Joss Whedon, Fillion's talent (and the talent of the rest of the cast) was what really made me love Firefly. That's also a cool way to get people reading too. Didn't ABC do something with Lost too with the book that Sawyer was reading? Or was that just fan wank? Either way, I love how more networks, especially ABC seem to be tying their shows into other media.

Fiddy, did you ever get the Dead Like Me movie? How was it?

fffaw- 07-01-2009

I have it but I haven't watched it. For some reason, it doesn't want to work in one of my dvd players and the other dvd is currently having issues. I'll have to watch it on my computer.

Last night's True Blood: Holy crap. There are almost no words. I didn't think they could top Episode 2-8. I was wrong. I can't believe there are only 3 more episodes left in the season.

Hey, y'all can keep your faux Southern Gothic vampires. Me, I've been grooving on "Being Human" over on BBC America. We got your vampire (with a lovely and real Irish accent) along with a werewolf (played by Russell Tovey, who broke my heart as John Chivery in "Little Dorrit" -- and I just now realized played Midshipman Alonso Frame in the Doctor Who "Voyage of the Damned" episode) and their roommate, a ghost named Annie. Am I alone here in the "Being Human" love?

fffaw- 08-17-2009

Oooh, I have that waiting to watch, Namaste - once I watch we can compare notes. I'm still so overwhelmed by last night's True Blood that I still haven't watched the Season premiere of Mad Men. Oy!

If you google around, fffaw, you can find the original pilot for Being Human, which had two different actors for Mitchell (the vampire) and Annie (the ghost). I found it hosted on a Russian site, for some reason. I prefer the actors they have now, but there is more background there on how they all came together, which isn't present in the series. Oh, and if you record/watch the 9 p.m. Saturday showings on BBCAmerica, it's the uncut version, which is 1 hour, 15 minutes. Every other showing is cut down to 1 hour, as far as I can tell.

Anybody want to discuss this Gossip Girl Spoiler. I have an initial reaction: YAY!!!

amysusanne- 08-25-2009

Sounds like good times to me.

fffaw- 08-25-2009

Woof! Works for me!

Anyone wanna discuss the most recent Mad Men? For some reason, it's been stuck in my mind the past few days. There's just this unsettling feeling that's been in the episodes this season, notably with the birth of baby Gene, Pete and that au pair, etc. But with the most recent episode, everything seems to be bubbling under more than ever. I especially liked the way they hinted at the emerging civil rights movement, with Carla's scene in the kitchen. And poor Sal - when Don snarled "You people" in true disgust it was like a kick in the stomach. And I don't know what to make of Connie (Conrad Hilton) yet. Even the scene where he seems to take Don on like a son had a weird undercurrent, and the way Connie then dressed down Don at the meeting...I'm getting the feeling that Connie may be overinvesting too much in Don, trying to create some ideal son, and is angry that Don isn't living up to his ideal.

I recently got hooked on BBC America's Robin Hood. While I'm not entirely fond of Robin (so arrogant! ugh!) I love the supporting characters. And the main villain, the Sheriff (Vaisey?), is a lot of fun to watch.

I just want to catch up with Mad Men! I just finished S2 a couple of weeks ago, and it sounds like I need to get crackin' on S3. Sorry I can't talk about it with you--maybe I'll acquire the episodes and be able to talk soon. I hate being cable-less. It's a drag. But I am poor.

And the main villain, the Sheriff (Vaisey?), is a lot of fun to watch. Robin Hood is a guilty pleasure for me, but I watch only because of the hotness that is Richard Armitage (Guy of Gisborne). rathrbereading, what season are you up to now?

Are there any fans of Fringe?
