Also, did anyone see the leaked trailer for Life on Mars US? I heard there was a big recast and a few people are out, including Colm Meaney. Doesn't bode well for the show getting on the air anytime soon, does it?

Doesn't bode well for the show getting on the air anytime soon, does it? I agree. I did see it. I liked Colm Meany. I didn't like the guy who played Sam, and I think they could do with a different director as it seemed that all the problems lay there more than the acting. I do know that David E Kelley has sold his share of the show off, so he's out as well.

Did anyone else watch Breaking Bad? I'm just getting caught up so I can see everything before the Emmy's. Two episodes in and I'm loving this. Bryan Cranston is great although I'm pretty sure I've seen enough of him in his underpants to last me a lifetime. This is a great role for him. Also love that Vince Gilligan is back. After Darin Morgan, VG was my favorite of the X-Files writers. (He wrote "Pusher" "Paper Hearts" "Small Potatoes" "Bad Blood" and, perhaps not without coincidence, "Drive" which guest starred Bryan Cranston.) What an interesting premise for a series. Literally, I can't wait to see what happens next.

Okay, I wasn't really meaning to respond to myself, but oh well.... So this is a couple of weeks late, but I ran across a feature by Maureen Ryan as she writes up her thoughts on season one of Mad Men. It's a really great article from her and I think, perhaps without meaning to, that she outlines alot of things about the main character of MM which make him quite similar to House. MM has a very deliberate and methodical layering of storyline going on and it's pace and intelligence remind me very much of S1 House which I continue to love so much. Does anyone else who's seen MM think there are some striking similarities as well? (I love, in particular, that both seem to get the "aha" moment in the show and both rely entirely on their brains to figure out the right answer to the puzzle.)

Did anyone else watch Breaking Bad? I'm just getting caught up so I can see everything before the Emmy's. Two episodes in and I'm loving this. I really, really, really love this show. Perfect role for him and a perfect role to maybe get people to realize he's not just Hal or Tim Whatley or whatever poor, sad schmuck he's playing in whatever sitcom has hired him at the time. I love him and I don't dismiss any of those (he should have won an emmy for Malcolm) but he's just fantastic on BB. I don't think I've ever full on unleashed my Bryan Cranston fawning here, but I'm just nuts about him. Bryan Cranston is great although I'm pretty sure I've seen enough of him in his underpants to last me a lifetime. I think it's like some kind of requirement that he be naked or nearly naked on every show he does. Does anyone else who's seen MM think there are some striking similarities as well? I can totally see it, though I don't think I really thought about it while I was watching the show, only once I'd finally finished it. Thanks for linking that article. It's a relief to have finally gotten the final MM out of the way so I can start reading articles and reviews for S2 and go back and watch the AMC special that's been sitting in the tivo for a couple of weeks.

I've heard so much about Mad Men, I didn't see the first season but I read the recaps and it sounds interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing the S2 premiere tonight.

If you have the chance, though, I'd strongly recommend you check out the first season on DVD before getting too entrenched in season two. There's really a lot of painstaking development tracks laid out in the first season.

In honor of the movie release, TVGuide has some of the scariest X-Files monsters in one of those slide show thingies. It's like a walk down memorylane :thumb up:
