Might have been lobster a la riseholme with a gooseberry fool (I dare you to name that reference!) or perhaps it was a plummy pot of porridge, or a brace of oysters topped with a taste of absinthe...I forget...

Um, excuse me. Colin Firth. White shirt. Pond. Verrry hot. Plus those smoldering gazes...yowza!!! Ehle's Lizzy was vivacious and just right as well. Clearly I'm a big fan of that P&P and of Austen as well. Firth usually does something for me, even in the BJ movies because he's so good at the tongue in cheek, but here, those outdoor scenes show the character as such a manly type and then he's so hot within his proud demeanor... Lovely. I have to agree that Colin is so hot! I loved him in Love Actually! Actually, I loved all of Love, Actually. Strangely , though, when watching Love Actually, I imagined that Hugh would haved played Colin's part perfectly!

NightOwl- 02-21-2008

Ok I know this is a tv thread, but is there something wrong with me that I couldn't get through Love, Actually? I usually will see a film through to the end; I can't stand to NOT finish watching. But I've tried three times to watch this film, and I can't get past the first half hour or so. It's just absolutely boring to me. I find none of the 20 or so characters to be interesting or unique or particularly well-crafted. What am I missing about this movie that most people find so compelling and wonderful? I ask in all seriousness. Maybe I would have liked it better if Hugh had been in it. (Of COURSE I would have... I'll sit through anything that has Hugh in it.) Mod Note: Hey, NightOwl - there is a movie thread. Please move this comment over so that people can discuss it with you. Thanks! Fid Ok... done. Can this be deleted?

Might have been lobster a la riseholme with a gooseberry fool (I dare you to name that reference!) Hm, hm...(stroking chin...) Mapp & Lucia? If so, put on the kettle and I shall bring the marrow jam! BTW, and completely OT, I absolutely loved your analysis of House's love for the elegant solution. Ya didn't get that from that yer long tall paramour. HenceFirth, he is all yours, though. I prefer a dearth of Firth. But in deference to your admiration, I gift you with an ode: Riposte to Squeeage de Boffle Proper height, proper girth He moves me not, your Mr. Firth. Flowing hair, piercing eye But no effect - I wonder why? Long of limb, voice of song The man would seem to do no wrong! Graceful hands, I do confess But ice am I, so do not press. I give to you my compliments - But not with teeming regiments Can you unseat my stony poise So leave off all this squeeing noise. Your man, he does not vex me, And never said I such - Just cannot say he decks me And I do not crave his touch! This trifle I then leave you Yes a gift to you from me. Colin you may cleave to - For him I'll never squee. Enjoy your sighs, your coos, your blush I fault you not for being mush. And to his waiting arms do rush, But I would give your chap the brush.

And Colin in P&P did not affect me physically, but it did emotionally. I loved his acting, and Jennifer's. And I loved Timothy Dalton as Rochester, but his James Bond did nothing for me. They showed the thing he did with Fran Drescher last week, now that was truly horrific.

Well played, wary, allow a humble bit of doggerel in response: Topspin Lob in Re: An Inexplicable Lack of Squee Over the net came her mighty serve Saying she cares not for Colin Firth, Unfazed, say I, he's hot, he's funny, But he leaves her tepid, won't call him honey, I rear back and, stepping in, return, saying Darcy's visage I'll never spurn, Take that, say I, right at your feet, Colin is love, and hot, and sweet, Say you, you'll not have him, Say I, all's well, I'll nab him, But then, a distant melody Recalls my love for "mystery" Yes, there's another in this duo There's me and him and Hugh, oh, Lovely Hugh, so tall, bright and handsome, Damn, while dreaming of his lovely blue eyes, I see she's returned with a smash, soon I'm up at net and ready to volley, The lob's over my head, and well, you see my folly, If Colin calls soon, I'll leave the door off the latch, but if Hugh ever calls, that's game, set and match.

Fabulous, ladies!

Is anyone else watching Nip/Tuck this season? I finally got to watch the latest episode and holy shit!

LightMyCandle- 02-21-2008

Is anyone else watching Nip/Tuck this season? I finally got to watch the latest episode and holy shit! I'm a casual viewer and I caught the last 15 minutes of the finale and, holy crap was that ever disturbing!!!

fffaw- 02-21-2008

Indeed it was! Was that the fricking season finale?! Or the last thing they had in the can pre-writer's strike? If that was the finale, it was one hell of a cliffhanger!

LightMyCandle- 02-21-2008

I think it was the finale but then I also read that they were airing new eps in the summer, but don't take that as gospel, I'm not sure. All I know is, that last image is burned into my brain and I gotta get some resolution...like yesterday.

fffaw- 02-22-2008

Exactly, LMC! I literally shrieked. They certainly packed alot of action into the finale. Part of me was like "Oh, lordy - what *else* can they possibly do to these people?" and the other part of me was glorying in the surreal soap opera quality of the whole thing. I'm in love with Christian for calling all of Matt's decision's "batshit" which I've been saying for several seasons. And I think Sharon Gless has done a marvelous job with her character. She's absolutely terrifying.

Poeia- 02-22-2008

Sharon Gless???? Sharon Gless can act? I'm going to have to watch just to see that.

fffaw- 02-22-2008

She's playing a batshit crazy stalker and doing a most excellent job at it. :-)

LightMyCandle- 02-22-2008

I'm in love with Christian for calling all of Matt's decision's "batshit" which I've been saying for several seasons. Word. When aren't Matt's decisions batsh*t? I can't stand that kid.
