I like Stella a lot--I really like Sarah Chalke. I'm trying to see how her kid she's got now fits into the larger picture if she really is Mom, although I guess her kid could be living away from home. (If she was born in, say, 2003 she'd be about the gang's age in 2030.) However, I feel like once you introduce the mother, they'd have to do some quick thinking, as she'd be immediately recognizable to the kids. Even if Stella isn't the mother, I think she's a major part of the puzzle, 'cause she was at the St. Patrick's Day party. Okay, so obviously I care. Now, on to Barney/Robin-- the one everyone cares about. Here are some spoilers I found on how the first episode picks up. Sounds iiiinteresting.

Okay, so obviously I care. Heh. It's weird, right? I honestly didn't care that much in the first couple of years and now that there are things I should and do care more about, I find myself caring about the mother. I'd say the only thing I care about beyond Ted/Stella and Robin/Barney is just why Robin's living in the apartment a year from now. And wtf happened with that goat. Interesting considering that I initially tuned in not only because NPH had a new sitcom, but because Jason Segel was on it. I love Marshall and Lily, but they've been pushed all the way to the back. I'm sure that'll change when it actually returns, though. I'm wondering where the kid fits too. That's been the glitch for me since we met her. I suppose it all depends on whether or not the show lasts past this season and they feel they can do more things with the "mystery". It's interesting that it's getting more press than it ever has, though. Maybe that's a good sign for a longer future. I'm really shocked that it's lasted this long given that it's not a huge hit and lives right next to the biggest comedy on television. Thanks, Britney!!! I'm not really reading too many spoilers about anything that goes beyond casting news until things actually return. I figure I should be semi-surprised at the beginning of the season since I'll no doubt be completely spoiled by Christmas.

I literally just tuned in about a couple of weeks ago. (Thanks, Internets!) I have Dr. Horrible to thank for that. My boyfriend tried to get me into it, like, two years ago and I was like, "That's so lame." And then my friends and I were watching Dr. Horrible and I was transfixed, thinking 'that guy was weirdly hot.' So I gave it another chance. Guess I needed something to get me through Doctor Who's absence. ;) but because Jason Segel was on it. I love Marshall and Lily, but they've been pushed all the way to the back. I'm sure that'll change when it actually returns, though. I just saw Knocked Up for the first time and he's really starting to grow on me. Marshall has some of the best one-liners ever. I still quote his, "Let's not do this anymore. I'm tired and sad."

March, if you love NPH, check out this from Sesame Street -- NPH as the singing/dancing shoe fairy.

Alright, I do care about Ted and Stella or I wouldn't have linked to the article. But I just can't get my head around the time line (ZOMG! No more time line discussions!) of those 2 getting married in the near future and not having kids for several years. It doesn't fit what the writers have shown us about Ted. Sarah Chalke's a great addition to the cast and I want her to stick around, but-yeah...not too sure how long this marriage is going to last. And I wanna know now, not in a few months, why Robin's living with a goat in Ted's apartment. It's important!

March301- 08-16-2008

Yeah, there's a long version of the Shoe Fairy Person here. The Shoe Fairy has a bit of an attitude on him, to be honest. I think he'd get along well with Barney--after all, he totally suited up. Oh, and on the website, there's an adorable video of Elmo asking him questions backstage. I love how they keep cracking each other up. I like to think it was unscripted, but IDK. And I wanna know now, not in a few months, why Robin's living with a goat in Ted's apartment. It's important! I hope it's because something goes awry in her apartment (to comic affect, of course, nothing too serious) and she has to crash at someone's place. Lily and Marshall deserve some time to themselves, and Barney? Well, as much as everyone loves him, I would not want to spend a significant amount of time crashing at his place. (The TV alone would give you a daily migraine). Plus, you'd have to either be fast or stand to pee. So that leaves Ted. (Evidently not living with Stella? Hmmm. Double hmmm.)

I just saw Knocked Up for the first time and he's really starting to grow on me. Marshall has some of the best one-liners ever. I still quote his, "Let's not do this anymore. I'm tired and sad." Omg, he was so fantastic in KU. He was just so matter of fact, laid back, leeringly creepy. What a great performance. His whole "Hey Debbie" thing in the waiting room...I love him so much. Marshall does have some of the best lines of the show. Barney's are probably funnier and more quotable, but Marshall's sometimes pop into my head out of nowhere. And unfortunately I have picked up his obnoxious habit of singing what I'm doing when I'm alone. Not good. I'm sure this is everywhere by now, btw, but just in case: NPH and Sarah Chalke will be cohosting the creative Emmys. This is good. I would still prefer that the NPH/Kristin Chenoweth show be taken on the road, but Sarah rocks. edited to fix *some* of the punctuation issues, but no doubt not all of the punctuation issues.

I adored Jason Segel in Knocked Up. I thought he was fantastic, and I laugh aloud just thinking about his scenes. His delivery of those lecherous comments was spot-on. But I can't get into Marshall in How I Met Your Mother. I guess I'm not generally into the schmoopy sweetheart characters. Yes, he's had his moments of jerkiness, but generally he's so sickeningly sweet (mostly with Lilly), that it's vomit-inducing. I think some of the lines of dialogue they write for him are just... weird and clunky. It must be difficult for him to deliver some of those lines with believability. I do like Marshall when he's being very naive with his beliefs (Loch Ness, the weird hybrid animal he and Lilly thought they saw in the apartment, etc). Otherwise, meh. I find Ted a little too sweet too. I guess I watch mainly for NPH. While Barney is over-the-top, NPH is fantastic and makes the lines seem natural. Of course, I have not yet watched season 3. I'm a year behind on this show, and the DVD doesn't come out until October, from what I understand. So I don't have all the information. This is just my impression from the first two seasons.

amysusanne- 08-22-2008

I actually like the sweet a lot. I like that he is genuinely sweet with an occasional dark/weird side while Ted would like to be that great guy, but has a jerky side to him that he can't control in spite of really trying. And Barney's the guy with the hidden (very, very hidden) sweet side, but outward obnoxious behaviour that very rarely gets him in any kind of long lasting trouble. I enjoy all the overlap between the characters and the slightly different results they bring. the weird hybrid animal he and Lilly thought they saw in the apartment, etc Hey...that was *real*. {g}

March301- 09-07-2008

Hey...that was *real*. {g} If Robin saw it, I believe it. *g* And unfortunately I have picked up his obnoxious habit of singing what I'm doing when I'm alone. Not good. I have always done that, which is why Marshall's singing always cracks me up. Maybe I don't do that to the same extent, but every so often!

Namaste- 09-17-2008

Neil Patrick Harris continues to be just awesome. An interview with him at the Onion's AV Club.

March301- 09-17-2008

Those are some awesome questions, too. If I had a chance to interview NPH, I'd want to ask similar questions. Very interesting insight to not only how he thinks as an actor, but also into the dark recesses of Barney's mind. *g*

amysusanne- 09-18-2008

NPH is going to be on Ellen tomorrow. Also, I'm pretty sure it's on Craig's website, but if not search out NPH on TLLS from last week. It was hilarious. I just got around to watching it and they're just so *on*.

March301- 09-22-2008

After watching the HIMYM premiere, can I just say NPH is legendary? He kept the whole family laughing this episode.
