I started watching reruns of Seinfeld lately and was shocked to find that I started to like George! I used to hate him so much! Have I changed, is it age, I don't know. Somehow I guess I like looking at trainwrecks now. It reminds me of "the Office" in a way, so annoying, embarassing and yet somehow fun to watch.

Maybe it says something about me, but I often identified with George. Somewhat ambitious yet lazy. Irrational reactions to confrontation. Tendency to get into embarrassing situations. I could go on and on. I actually identified a lot with Elaine as well, but usually only during her awkward confrontations with people. Other times, she was way cooler than I could ever hope to be. If you are starting to like George and if you're looking for something else to watch, you should check out Curb Your Enthusiasm from HBO. It's Larry David's show, partly written and partly improv. As he was the creator of Seinfeld and worked on it for many years, the story lines are very similar. Larry plays himself on this show, and you probably know that the character of George was based on Larry. There were 6 or 7 seasons of it, and I think they're all out on DVD now. Of course, I don't know how old you are or what your taste is really. But because Curb Your Enthusiasm was on HBO, it is way way more risqué and overtly adult than Seinfeld ever was.

Thank you for protecting my innocence Nightowl. I've always liked Elaine, except for her truly terrible shoes. A few years ago I just cringed at so many of Georges scenes, now I find them endearing in a way. I'll give Curb... a try. I've heard about, never seen it.

Sometimes Curb is irritating and slow-moving. Even predictable at times. Sometimes I totally agree with Larry and sometimes not. He's curmudgeonly but not as loveable as House is. But the payoff at the end of each episode is usually good.

Reminds me that I recently watched the episode from the 5th season where Larry meets the son of a Kamikazi pilot. OMG. So funny. So shamefully funny.

Yea, it's all pretty cringe-worthy, huh Bailey? It's fantastic. I love it. I think my favorite overall arc is the very last season—with the family who moved in with Larry and Cheryl. I'd had no idea before this that Vivica Fox is FUNNY! I've really only seen her in Kill Bill. I think the whole series is worth sitting through for the final scenes in the finale episode.

Maybe it says something about me, but I often identified with George. I'm completely ashamed of the fact that I also find myself identifying with George. It's sad. Fortunately my friend Stephanie often feels that way too. Which is good since I don't feel so alone, but bad considering the fact that no group of friends needs two Georges. Not good. It's not all bad, though, I guess...we once Costanza'd our way through a whole weekend in Vegas where we found ourselves in fucked up situation after fucked up situation, but somehow managed to wing our way through it all. Sometimes embracing your inner George has it's benefits. I actually identified a lot with Elaine as well, but usually only during her awkward confrontations with people. Other times, she was way cooler than I could ever hope to be. I can only really identify with Elaine in my head because she says and does the things that I *think*, but rarely ever follow through on. I think if you let your inner Elaine *or* your inner George out you would probably wind up either getting the shit beat out of you or doing hard prison time.

SNL is back and still very much hit and miss. This is a hit.

SNL is back and still very much hit and miss. This is a hit. GG, the skit was great, but I was just ROTFL at the disclaimer at the end, especially the leathery tail, and preemptive incarceration! Man that was funny. I recently caught a re-run of The Drew Carey Show "Dog & Pony" episode, where Drew thinks Mrs. Louder's dog is a stray, and gets it shaved and neutered. They have to buy a replacement pedigree stud, so the boys decide to do their own version of the "Full Monty" at the Warsaw to raise the money. I had forgotten how funny that was! Everyone had great lines, and Carey had several moments where he was barely able to keep from laughing himself. That one's a keeper.

According to NBC's fall schedule, for the three weeks leading up to the presidential election, SNL is going to be airing on Thursday. In the words of the venerable Stephen Colbert, "WTF, y'all?"

amysusanne- 04-07-2008

It's just half hour specials of political material. Clearly it's to compete with shows like TCR and TDS, but they've done it before. Their primetime specials are usually clip shows, but they've done short episodes with new material in the past. Iirc, some of them were during the "super sized" Thursdays. I'm kind of excited about it because I like what Amy and Fred are doing. I hate that I missed Saturday's show.

I won't lie, this made me happy: Craig Ferguson tops Conan O'Brien for the First Time. Go Craig! Now, talk about Hugh more often! Or better, get him on more often!

If y'all grew up in the 90s and had no life to speak of this is the interview will either make you feel retroactively cool or old. Or both. Kids in the Hall at the Onion AV Club Ooooh! The memories!* I really need to get my tickets to this show. *That's just for you, Fiddy.

fffaw- 04-11-2008

*That's just for you, Fiddy. So cruel! I have a deep seated fear of the Chicken Lady and RSH takes every opportunity to bring it up. ;-) Did anyone see 30 Rock last night? MILF Island!

amysusanne- 04-11-2008

I really need to get my tickets to this show. Yes. Yes, you do.
