Okay, wait. I'm watching The Starter Wife for the first time since the premiere TV movie last year. So that hot guy replaced Peter Jacobson? From the promos, I just thought he was a "special friend." But he's the ex-husband. Making him that hot kind of killed the point of The Starter Wife in the first place. I'm so confused.
It's funny that you just posted this. I too only watched the movie. I've seen tons of previews of course watching House on USA. Sitting here after watching House I left the channel on while trying to put my daughter to sleep. I don't get the casting choice of the ex-husband?
Wow, that's ridiculous. I had no idea who you guys were talking about, so I had to imdb it. I've seen the actor in ads, but had no clue he was playing the husband. What a strange casting choice.
On the subject of other comedy: Justin Timberlake's "Weekend Update" appearance is online at hulu and nbc.
http://www.nbc.com/Saturday_Night_Live/video/clips/update-justin-timberlake/837208/
I suppose it's probably only funny if you're familiar with his previous appearances, but I think it's hilarious. I feel that it's unfair to deprive the world of his Michael McDonald impression.
Too bad the clip cuts off before JT jumps up on the desk and sings. Seth's "yeah" sort of reminded me of Nealon (and Paul McCartney, etc.) in the "Red Hooded Sweatshirt" bit. I'm sure there are less legal versions posted out there. I've seen the Beyonce sketch (also funny) in various places, but it's not on the official site. I'm assuming that it's because of music clearance issues.
I'm totally addicted to Pushing Daisies and mightly miffed that it got cancelled. They say they might continue it form of a comic book ... anyone thing that might work? Hopefully dvd sales will bring the studio back to their senses.
The first set sold well and everyone is assuming that a second set will be released and do equally well. But, I don't think there's any chance at all that DVD sales will = new episodes. The show is really expensive. Something like "Family Guy" can be resurrected due to rerun and DVD interest, but I don't think PD will stand any chance of that. The two things to most hope for are a movie (which is actually really likely given the interest in moving things like "Arrested Development" and "Veronica Mars" to the big screen) and, less likely though more preferable, a last minute reprieve from the network whey they assess their midseason shows. If the next batch of shows crash and burn and they've realized that they've already cancelled three hours of programming before Christmas, one of the condemned shows might get another shot. Since PD is more expensive than DSM or Eli, it's a longshot, but "Jericho" shouldn't have come back for another season and they did. It was a failed experiment, but it did offer closure.
I think the die hards will appreciate a comic that wraps up the story. I'll read it, but I'd rather see it on my television for 42 minutes than the few minutes it would take to read the comic book.
On a completely unrelated note, does anyone know where I could find the SNL Monday Night Football sketch with Tim Meadows doing OJ? I've searched the SNL site, hulu, vimeo, youtube...I can't find it. We were talking about it Friday and I realized that I'd really like to see it and...nothing.
Fred Armisen finally updated his blog last week with a bit about the Jon Hamm ep of SNL. I love this:
We started this week as a total nerd-fest. Monday is the day we pitch our sketch ideas to Lorne and our host. We walk into a small office, sit, and one by one talk about what we want to try that week. It's mainly a way for us to all get together and feel out how the show is going to be. But for this pitch meeting, we all wanted to do something special for Jon Hamm since we are ALL such huge Mad Men fans. So we decided to show up totally dressed up in suits and early 60's style dresses. It's funny because we've never done anything like that for pitch. Many of us had cigarettes and glasses of scotch too. It seemed like he really liked it and I'm glad we did it. Everyone looked great. I can't even remember what the pitches were.

Can I just say that Doogie grew up nice?
Those pictures are awesome.
I was tickled to see those. Especially the relay reenactment. I was obsessed with the Olympics this year, so seeing them actually shaved and squeezed into those LZRs just takes me back.
Speaking of NPH, according to USA today he'll be hosting SNL on January 10th.
Awesome! I was kind of wondering why they didn't promote the 1/10 host last weekend, but maybe they were still pounding out the details. As far as hosts go, SNL loves me these days.

On the ABC site you can have a look at how it would look like as a comic and I have to say I'd really prefer to see it on the big screen (or preferably on tv) if it has to be one or the other.
I fear I have to agree that PD is basically too expensive to resurrect unless it can sweep the ratings in a spectacular fashion, which admittedly seems very unlikely. :|
The dvd of the first season is out here at the end of January. At least that's the current schedule, hope they're not changing it.
For How I Met Your Mother fans in the U.S.(and those of us who keep
meaning to watch it),
Lifetime will start airing the series from the beginning tomorrow at 7 p.m.
It looks like the schedule is 2 episodes, back-to-back, each Monday.
Oh my god, that site. I love that they completely leave Jason Segel out of the "meet the characters" bit. I clicked the "more" thinking it would take me to a character page, but it kicked me to another lifetime page. Nice. You've only got five actors to fit onto the page, lifetime.
I also love the comments from people who shouldn't be allowed near a computer who don't understand why HIMYM wasn't on Tuesday in spite of the fact that they clearly state that it's only on Mondays. This was the best:
What happened??????????? Monday night it was on, and tonight Still Standing which was barely on T.V. was on in it's place. Sorry I don't want to see reruns or reruns or reruns.
I was so excited that this show was coming on, since I had missed a lot of the series, due to sharing a T.V. I just hope Lifetime didn't chicken out due to some prude, soccer moms.
Besides what kid watches Lifetime?
So sad. And I'm not sure what they mean about not wanting to see "reruns or reruns or reruns" because even if they meant "reruns *of* reruns" they're still upset that something was on instead of something else that, by their logic would *probably* be considered a rerun. Someone should probably clue them in to the fact that, technically, "Still Standing" was on television longer than HIMYM has been. That'll change after this season, but c'mon. Pick a better argument, man. Thanks for the stupid "did lifetime chicken out" comment, though. That's golden.
In other NPH news:
http://www.hulu.com/watch/51269/saturday-night-live-snl-promo-neil-patrick-harris
Ah, I love NPH. It was good to see him on SNL last night.
The monologue bit about his girlfriend was hysterical. He's got such great timing.
His "and thrust, and thrust" part of the Kathy Lee Gifford/Hoda Kotb skit cracked me up.
And of course, I loved the Broadway skit ("Michael Jordan? He was the Tommy Tune of basket ball" "OHHHHHH!")
Taylor Swift: Holy crap. She doesn't have much of a voice live, does she? However, she pouts and tosses her hair like a pro.
