I've written ad nauseum about this at the time, but I still can't stand how Wilson treated House back then. He totally misjudged House and then not telling him his intuition had been correct? Unforgiveable. Except House always forgives everyone. Sometimes people forget that.
I'm afraid House always forgives everyone because of a very low self estim, when it's not work-related. Like he is thankful * some* people put up with him, despite him being a jerk and a bad man. Meaning was the first time we saw Wilson make bad decisions and give bad advice, (apart from the detoxing bet), with good will, I'm afraid. And I would not put past him a fear that House would not need him so much any more. That's where we saw that Wilson's screwed up, too.

Yes, that's true. House forgives everyone. I hadn't thought of that before, but you're right. I think I'm with the poster who said it's bad writing, but still, I agree with you, I was furious at the time.

@Cuddyclothes I agree with all who posted that Wilson's and Cuddy's manipulation in "Meaning" seems like bad writing, because neither medicine nor the plot were supporting their "worries" and never justified their secret keeping.
But I think House being very forgiving is very in character. He deems himself a jerk and worth any punishment he gets. So he forgives. Sometimes right on spot, sometimes after short anger, but he always forgives. That’s what redeems him for a lot of shortcomings and makes me want to squeeze his hand at times... He'd be appalled, of course, and run screaming. Still...

You just want to squeeze his hand? I'd be happy to hug him...

I don't think House so readily forgives people because of low self-esteem or because he thinks he deserves punishment.
I think he's just self-aware and consequent.
He deliberately doesn't treat his fellow human beings with the kind of respect and compassion dictated by social conventions.
But in turn, he doesn't expect other people to treat him any better.
He even prefers it that way because, as per his worldview, it's more honest and genuine.
So in a sense, you could say House thinks he "deserves" to get treated this way, but I think it's more about having a pragmatic tit fot tat approach instead of self-loathing.
House probably feels that it would be hypocritical of him to deny other people the right to treat him the same way he treats (or would treat) them.
As for Wilson's behaviour in 'Meaning', I think there was enough going on in the episode to give him justified reason to be concerned about House's patient and the way House was obsessing over a seemingly non-existent case.
I also don't think it was unreasonable for Wilson to worry about how House would handle being of the drugs and where to he might shift his addictive tendencies to compensate for the Vicodin.
The way Wilson chose to interfere and manipulate House was cruel and awful though, especially after House had confided in him about his fears concerning the return of his pain and was obviously in a vulnerable state of mind, and particularly when it became clear how scared House was of having lost his ability to successfully diagnose (in 'Cane and Able').

@Bea: I agree with most of your points. My talking about 'punishment' went somewhere along the same lines, I was just too lazy to elaborate.
I still don't think Wilson’s worries were justified at all: House was off the drugs for more than two months, so if anything, he should have supported him. House obsesses quite often and nobody around him understands it more often than not: The downside of being with a genius. Wilson should be used to that.
@ Vicpei: If I tried to hug House, he'd definitively run screaming... So I don't even dare to dream about something like that.

You don't know that! He let Chase hug him :D ; and Alvie. Hey, he might like it!
More seriously, I'll heart "You Must Remember This" this year for showing us some H/W old school friendship. It was good to see. I'll keep the episode title as a motto.
And Bea, happy to read you again! I was wondering if you were still around.
