It is delightful to have a place where people aren't griping and calling every plot twist ridiculous. Sure, some of them stretch credibility, but this is entertainment TV, and I am making a resolution to just roll with it. If I wanted a reality show, I'd go watch one.
So, to the writers: You do a wonderful job, I certainly couldn't do it better, and I appreciate you.

So true. Weekly true-to-life documentaries? Boring. Drama? Fun!
Is the show perfect? Not by any means, but I have fun watching every week, and then I love coming here and pulling episodes apart. Not taking it too seriously... that's the name of the game.

Wow! I start a thread, go to sleep and wake up to 3 pages of posts.
I'd like to thank Boffle for the idea - I had no idea how much I (and alot of you) was hungering for some positivity - but now that its here, I'm so very glad.
I'm just so happy to still have this show around when so many of my other faves have bitten the dust. No matter what happens, its still must see TV to me and I'm sticking with it no matter what. I'm also glad that this show has produced so many intelligent, well spoken and thoughtful fans and they've settled down here on our little forum. Your thoughts have enhanced my viewing experience and made the show that much better for me.

Oh, thank you! Great idea, Boffle and thanks to the mods for creating it. I am so looking forward to tonight and considering by this time in any previous shows I've loved, I'd lost interest, I think House is doing just fine. I've had bumps due to plotholes in the writing road all the way along, but never anything that was not smoothed over by what the writing as a whole revealed about this fascinating man. I've had times where I thought one character was getting more attention than I'd like for my taste, but the writers were always heading somewhere interesting. I think David Shore and his writers are still where they were for me right from season one: capable of taking some wrong turns now and again, but still coming up with a fascinating character who challenges the fact that I love him so much--but makes me love him nonetheless. I'm glad I can't predict what he will do in every situation, even when what he does is not at all what I want him to do (boob grab, sigh). After all these years, I'm still looking in House's eyes, trying to see what lies behind.

Yes! And there's always something more, something mysterious, some deeper, hidden layer that I know will be interesting. It's not a door without a key: it's a door with dozens of keys and unlocking one might lock ten others. A fascinating, troubling character. I'm so hooked.
Just want to add that I am so thrilled with the responses here. I think I was feeling very hopeful yesterday (you might be able to guess why) and felt so much love for the House folks and for the posters here. Really, I do. We all share such an affection for the variety of wonderful ideas and characters and stories in this show that I just wanted to hear everyone's stories and share my own. But it seems there is a deeper vein amongst us, just as there is in House. In addition to pleasure, there is a lot of gratitude we share as well: both for the show and for each other and for those who provide us with this great forum and keep it running in tip-top shape with good humor and fairness.
Another quick thing I love: the Hugh Laurie ad libs that stay in the show and trying to guess which were his and which were scripted. The only one I know for sure was the "nuns, when you take the IUD out of them, they just pop right back" from DIYD. But I think the line after the Shamu line in SoCG was one too. ("I officially have nothing to say...")

Thank you for this thread! Just reading your posts fills my heart with happiness.
I love the show, I love House, I love Hugh. I'm always amazed at the layers of the storytelling, its clever dialogues, superb actings...This is the first and the only American drama that I'm looking forward to watching every week. (and not just once)
It introduced me to Hugh's former works (I was so dumb to finally recognize him as Mr. Little, the guy on the airplane in Friends, the brilliant actor in Peter's Friends, after watching "Dr. House" for quite a long time...), and opened my eyes to the British comedies, ecc ecc...and even made me willing to post in an American forum...:D ...and it all started from House md. I think I should thank David Shore and the producers for their decision of choosing (most appropriately ) Hugh as House.
And now I'm happy that Season 1 dvds will be finally released in May in Japan. (I don't know why it took so long...the dvds of other American dramas such as 24, Bones were out quite soon...some complication of the license, maybe?) Having ordered from amazon.com, I have all seasons of House already, but I think "Dr. House" will gain much more popularity when dvd rentals begins, and just thinking of it makes me happy. This is the show that the Americans can be proud to export, people!:D

I'm with you on that one, Boffle. I think that was pure Hugh Laurie, down to the grin!

Oh, a happiness thread. Yay! :D
I knew there were a lot of non-bitter people out there. It's nice to see you all here.
I love that House gives me something to look forward to all the time, no matter how long a new episode is away. I'm counting weeks and days all the time. And when the moment arrives it gives me great pleasure to sit down and watch, always with my full concentration, because the show deserves nothing less and because I don't want to miss any of the nuances.
Absurdly a very dark character has made me a much less dark person. Just because having a happy place to go to (watching, discussing and speculating about the show, characters and actors) is simply uplifting.
As long as Hugh Laurie plays House, I cannot see that changing.

Oh yes, yes, yes. :) One of my favourite bits of the show too. Also - on a related note, wondering which of the many interesting shots/cuts/movements/etc were Laurie-ideas or prompted by him.

Yay! A happy thread!
I love House, (the show and the character). Despite the few characters/scenarios I'm bitter about, the show as a whole always keeps me interested, and always keeps me looking forward to the next episode. This forum, too, is great. It's fantastic having a place to come and discuss House, and it's always interesting reading other people's different opinions on the show and knowing that there are fans out there who love the show as much as I do.
And Hugh Laurie ... where do I start?! The man is just amazing. Down here in Aussie-land, he was quite popular in the 80s-90s. (we love our British comedy). I used to watch re-runs of A Bit of Fry and Laurie and Blackadder, which resulted in me gettung a crush on him when I was little (even though I was too young to understand most the jokes in his shows). lol.
But never in a million years would I have ever imagined Hugh becoming the lead actor in a popular American drama. 15 years ago that would have seemed absurd (and I love that HL seems to have no idea as to why he's so popular. Aww, he's so modest!).
Seeing him as House was a whole new level of incredible-ness. It's as though he was born for the role. He's just .... perfect. (and his eyes ... as OldHamster said, HL can act more with those eyes than most actors can with their whole bodies. Ain't it the truth!).
The show also introduced me to RSL. I'd seen some of his previous movies, but I'll be honest, his roles never stood out for me. But when I saw him as Wilson, I knew he'd be my favorite character... And after 5 seasons he still is! <3 Wilson.
Despite everyone in the hospital thinking he's perfect and nice, he's a terribly flawed character... Maybe even moreso than House. As Cate from "Frozen" said: "Makes me think that you're secretly a lot less nice than you seem". And I'd say it's true. Despite Wilson's good intentions, he has a habit of making things worse than better. He's critical, often negative and sarcastic, and he thinks that he's always right when it comes to House. And that's what draws me to the character... He's seen as the 'nice guy' by other characters, yet there are many layers underneath that niceness. And I find that downright fascinating. (I guess that's why dark!Wilson fanfics are so popular).

I love Taub.
That is all. For now.
OK, I lied. Fire Island reference and "I'd shoot the guys with torches." Hee.

This is the only show left on TV (sans the Daily Show, but that's a separate category) that I still watch. Despite having a few complaints about the show, House nights are the only nights where I turn off all the lights, get my dinner next to me, and refuse to move for an entire hour. Watching House is like a delicious puzzle--as long as we watch and care enough to pay attention, there's always at least one tiny new facet of House to intrigue us. He is my favorite fictional character of all time.
I love that watching this show doesn't just take one hour, but two--I can't concentrate on a single thing for at least an hour after the show ends because I'm thinking so hard on what I've just seen. Thank you, show.

Dear writers of Painless:
On behalf of every Hugh fangirl, thank you. A lot. I mean to say, completely.
