I was actually more annoyed that Archuletta's "what you don't know about me" was AI related. I know they did that for conspiracy theorists, but "I won Junior Star Search" would have been far better because everyone's whispering about it and it's not like anyone gives a shit about Junior Star Search, so it won't lose him votes. As for Carly's future:Taylor Hicks probably sold less of his AI album than he did of everything they recorded before he was on the show. Who's to say Carly won't have the opposite happen. Granted, it's not hard to outsell 300 albums (she's probably lapped that a dozen times over on itunes by now), but record companies fuck up with artists all the time. If she wins (which she probably won't) she could just as easily find herself with Kelly/Carrie material rather than Ruben/Taylor material and make a decent go of it. I'd never go so far as to say that 19 is better at nurturing an artist, but they are very good at marketing you if they like you. I don't think anyone I actually like is in danger tonight except for, maybe, A'siah...whose name I just blanked on and may have mangled. I like her and I didn't think she *sucked*, but she was rough and who the hell knows. Voters are weird and fickle and, I guess, if I *really* cared I would be dialing my phone right now, but I don't. Overall, I think, in spite of the fact that her rendition was a little too cute for such a bitter song, Brooke was both my favorite *and* the best. Amanda and Alexandrea were way at the bottom, but my dream is still that Kady will go home as a personal favor to me. If she doesn't, I'd like her to at least finally go batshit on them all because the girl is very close to blowing. And she couldn't make it more obvious that she has nothing but contempt for Ryan if she hired a skywriter to fly all over the city tomorrow. edited because artist and audience are two completely different things.
The fact that Taylor Hicks actually won solidifies that statement!I actually watched most of that season with my grandmother, a very even tempered eighty-three year old woman. Every time Taylor Hicks graced the screen she'd roll her eyes,wave her hands at the screen, and complain during his whole performance. His very existence seemed to offend her. And she always said that he looked like he was having a seizure when he sang.
