It's hit the point where I can no longer tell who are sincere and who are plants.

extra_cat- 01-14-2009

The first girl... the one who sounded like a cat falling off the Empire State Building... that's what I'd sound like if I tried out. LOL It astonishes me that some of these people actually think they're good. They must have kind mothers who feed their self-esteem.

galaxygirl- 01-14-2009

I know they have to go through at least one audition round before auditioning for the four Stooges, but man, they have to let them through just for the entertainment value. However, maybe, just maybe, it makes those poor souls think that they can actually sing when the producers let them through during the stadium auditions.

extra_cat- 01-14-2009

I like Matt the welder. I can't believe Randy wanted to pass on him.

amysusanne- 01-14-2009

Oh, yeah...the producers are cruel bastards to some of the people who actually think they have talent. Every other reality show has psychologists on staff and this one, the one that doesn't, is the one that needs them most. I like Matt the welder, too. Randy's a douche. And the sisters, India and Asia, were probably the two nicest people I've ever seen on a show like that.

radiosweetheart- 01-14-2009

India and Asia were adorable. I don't know if I'm missing the point or what, but I don't think "How to Save a Life" is the best outro music for a 28 yr old dude whose wife just died. Just sayin. ETA: ZOMG! There's a folklorist on and they're berating him mercilesly for his terrible career choice! They're telling him he'd be better off going to Devry Technical Institute! ... Or maybe that's just what I would've done.

extra_cat- 01-14-2009

I love this show. It makes me feel a lot of emotions in the span of two hours.

radiosweetheart- 01-14-2009

I want that "What has weed done for you?" as my ringtone. I love anti-drug propaganda. And candy...I also really love candy. And Doritos.

amysusanne- 01-14-2009

That is so my favorite anti-drug ad ever. The dude who lets people draw on him? Awesome. With the BBQ folklorist, the kid from yesterday that made the Brit jokes, the guy whose wife died (what with his "I didn't want to be that guy" comment), and at least one more I'm totally forgetting, it occurs to me that this season's got a few folks who are a bit quicker on the uptake than normal. They're aware of the show and they've got a wit about them (whether it's funny or not). Last season, with Carly and Brooke and Castro it was like Ryan was trying to herd cats around that stage. Those were the biggest bunch of spazzes. I mean, their spazziness was awesome, but I think Ryan would have flung himself off the top of the studio if he'd had to try to get Brooke to sit in the right chair one more time. It seems that this season is the opposite of last. Except for the fact that there's another Castro out there... Also, please tell me that I didn't see batshit crazy Alexis in that last clip? And Goth Wrestler Girl? I am so certain that I saw her too. Please don't subject me to these people again, Idol. Please. I'm begging you. Alexis is the worst person ever.

After watching the Soup, I shall from now on call Kara, Kara LaGuardia Airport

TrooperCam- 01-18-2009

I don't know if I'm missing the point or what, but I don't think "How to Save a Life" is the best outro music for a 28 yr old dude whose wife just died. No more so than whoever chose that song considering it is about a drug intervention.

Housewhore4- 01-18-2009

After watching the Soup, I shall from now on call Kara, Kara LaGuardia Airport  LMAO!!!! I thought of that when I heard her last name! Go Joel! :D

Are there no good singers in SF? This is a bad crop they're showing so far tonight.

amysusanne- 01-21-2009

I couldn't believe that they went to SF and barely took away double digits. Wow. Although it explains how that totally weak "Son of a Preacher Man" girl got put through: they were desperate. That city barely even produced any usable storylines. The dude taking care of his sick mother was both a nice person and a nice singer and the guy with the kids was cute and decent, but will be cut in the first round of Hollywood. The "Wicked" guy, while all right, could quickly prove annoying. I did laugh when Ryan joked that the annoying chick's printouts was something from health class and she matter of factly corrected him with "it's from the internet". I couldn't tell if she was real or not in the beginning, but once I heard her sing I decided she was. Either that or she was *really* committed to the character because that singing was from someone who *has* read about technique and overused every piece of advice out there.

extra_cat- 01-21-2009

Oh yeah, traSHEa girl. And she said they made her "iraqitated" whatever the hell that means.
