Some hardcore American Idol fans. To be fair, this may have been me had Obama not won.

That's awesome. I love the whole "how could you vote for that loser who doesn't shave??" bit. All I could hear was Britany Murphy saying "you're a virgin who can't drive". And that one girl in pink totally wasn't into it at all. She could barely even bring herself to fake cry until the second act.

Some hardcore American Idol fans. To be fair, this may have been me had Obama not won. To be fair, I think a bit more was at stake in the Presidential election. Those girls are going to be so embarrassed looking at that tape 10 years from now. And it's not like David A. was kicked out of the music business for coming in second. He's going to have a very successful career.

He's going to have a very successful career. I'm pretty sure most of that is just for the camera. I don't think we're looking at Archie versions of the Sanjaya girl. A couple are sort of smiling at points and looking at each other for cues and some of that crying is clearly fake. The one in the middle is either hardcore or a pretty good actress, but the rest seem to sort of fall in and out of it. I think they're just hams. http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=natxxjessx3&view=videos

Promo for the new season. Have they ever used a previous winner for this kind of thing before? Due to moving and Thanksgiving stress, I haven't been able to buy DC's album yet, but from what I'm hearing from the other fans it's goood. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy.

Nice interview with David Cook about the new album.

Promo for the new season. Have they ever used a previous winner for this kind of thing before? Wow. I'm thinking that, yes, this is the first time they've done that. Honestly, I'm thinking this is the first time they've seriously used a winner to promote the show since Kelly (those little two second shots of the winner in ads don't count) and even then...it wasn't this. On one hand, good for him. On the other hand, way to whore him out. The first hand probably cancels out the other hand, though. It's nice to see Idol have a winner they actually like for a change. Due to moving and Thanksgiving stress, I haven't been able to buy DC's album yet, but from what I'm hearing from the other fans it's goood. I can't wait to get my hands on a copy. I'm still trying to wrap my head around the idea that there's someone on Idol whose album I will actually buy retail. I haven't picked up a copy of it yet (I will when I go Christmas shopping), but I've ::cough::downloadedit::cough:: and it's pretty good. A little bit like what he was doing before Idol, but cleaned up and produced for the masses.

The new Elle magazine (with Carrie Underwood on the cover) has a fashion shoot with some very nice pictures of most of the top 10 people from Season 7. There's a cute picture of David Cook (which galaxygirl will enjoy) and RSH will faint from the multiple pictures of Jason Castro tossing his dreadlocks around.

I agree, I feel like David is the first American Idol that everyone, judges, producers, etc., mutually love. They had been waiting for the moment they could put a rocker on their label, and one who can sing like Cook can. Though I do hope they don't go overboard. I love David and I don't want to see him become a tool

The new season starts tonight! I'm so looking forward to it!

Housewhore4- 01-13-2009

Me too! As shallow as putting a new judge in among the ranks to gain more viewers and better ratings is, FOX reeled me in. Though I've been a fan for years, I'm really excited again for the new season. The last couple years haven't really been all that amazing, the shakeup has me interested :D

extra_cat- 01-13-2009

The additional judge has me worried. I keep thinking that the new characters on House have brought that show down IMO and I thought AI was working well as it was! I'm afraid the contestants will have even less time to actually sing because we'll have to listen to another person comment. When they only have 30 seconds to sell themselves as singers to start with, it's a shame to cut into that. Or maybe they'll just have Ryan kill time less. Who knows.

galaxygirl- 01-13-2009

I'm more worried about the decisive vote now the vote can end on 2-2. Does Simon get the last say or something, because that would blow considering the AI people he passed on and only went through because of the other two.

amysusanne- 01-13-2009

Yeah, it's the voting I'm not sure about. It hasn't been an issue yet and I haven't seen it explained, so I guess we'll see. So far the new judge seems fine. And even if she sucked, it's certainly better than the revolving door of celebrity judges. If you wanna talk about people sucking up contestants time, *that* is what did it. Boring celebrity ass kissery takes away from actual constructive judging.

extra_cat- 01-13-2009

It's okay if judges suck up time in the auditions. When it comes down to the Top 36, that's when I think having a 4th talker is going to hurt. I don't think we've seen the eventual winner yet. And, seriously, guys (and girls, I'm looking at you Jordin Sparks) have got to learn that Living on a Prayer is next to impossible to sing! LOL David Cook did it well, but he did a remix version. That Emily chick was pretty good.
