Almost makes me want to buy a CD to balance out the universe and make up for the asshole behaviour of the obsessed.

radiosweetheart- 09-23-2008

A Thousand Different Ways is much better than Measure of a Man. Definitely get that one.

amysusanne- 09-23-2008

And where do they sell CDs again? Actually, I guess that joke would make more sense if we weren't talking about Clay Aiken because, in this case, the answer is just Walmart.

fffaw- 09-23-2008

I wonder what's happening tonight in the home of that woman whose picture I saw wearing the homemade (with puffy paint!) t-shirt that said: Clay Rocks My Ovaries A Thousand Different Ways! No joy in Mudville for sure.

amysusanne- 09-24-2008

Oh, puffy paint tshirts. There are no words... How many ways *can* one rock someone's ovaries? It can't possible be a thousand. I've actually kind of been wondering something about his statement. He comments on how he doesn't want to raise a child to lie or hide things, but did he ever lie? I mean, I get his point and I understand the statement, but telling the world to fuck off and that it's not any of their business isn't a lie. I don't think he has anything to be ashamed of for not informing a nosy public that he's gay when it's not something we need to know in the first place.

radiosweetheart- 09-24-2008

There apparently was a Rolling Stone interview in 2003 when he did say "I'm not gay." I don't have the article at my disposal because I am not a Claymate but I know that whilst reading the wank a lot of posters referenced that article as the reason why they were so upset and couldn't be his fan anymore. Just an excuse to be a small minded, IMO. I saw a picture on some blog (Gawker, Jezebel, I dunno?) of Obama hugging a small child that made me want to get impregnated immediately. Not a usual position for me-but it certainly rocked a few ovaries in a hurricane like manner.

amysusanne- 09-24-2008

Gotcha. His comments make more sense now. I don't have the patience to go beyond the fourth page of google hits (and I'm sure as people like me search "Rolling Stone article" + "Clay Aiken" + gay" the stats will all grow and switch around), but mostly I just found more current pages that reference it with nothing from the actual article. It would be nice if someone would repost it, because I'm curious about it, especially if it's the main reason they're all losing their shit this morning. Those people are idiots if that's the reason they won't be his fan anymore. I wasn't aware that his sex life or his willingness to talk to them about it had anything to do with his music which, theoretically, is why anyone would be a fan (to the point of being a fanatic, at any rate) in the first place. He didn't kill a child or lie under oath about matters of national security or sell secrets to Soviet Russia circa 1986, he dodged some questions and had the poor judgement to actually deny something when he should have just told everyone to STFU. There's no reason for them to feel betrayed (because that is ridiculous behaviour) and there's no reason to be sad (he didn't die). Someone needs to knock some perspective in them. They should be proud of him and support him because their being total assholes about it is part of why public figures stay in the closet.

radiosweetheart- 09-24-2008

^This^ When a person begins to feel ownership of a performer and feels that the singer/actor/subway busker owes her anything other than the product he produces that person has officially wandered into psycho territory. Perhaps it says something about me that I couldn't figure out why anyone was upset about the baby until I read the People blurb. Really? They're upset that he didn't marry the woman he artificially inseminated? Wow. Just wow.

fffaw- 09-24-2008

They're upset that he didn't marry the woman he artificially inseminated? Wow. Just wow. Holy crap! That's why they were upset?? That's...scary. I agree with both of you, amysusanne and RSH. Also, back in 2003, maybe he hadn't made peace with himself yet and didn't identify as gay, so essentially, it wouldn't have been a lie at the time. Coming out is a process.

I saw a picture on some blog (Gawker, Jezebel, I dunno?) of Obama hugging a small child that made me want to get impregnated immediately. Um, by Obama? ;-)

radiosweetheart- 09-24-2008

He has very pretty babies. But I'd rather not start a scandal. I haven't recovered from the last bit of tabloid fodder I was involved in.

amysusanne- 09-24-2008

Here's the People article: http://community.livejournal.com/ohnotheydidnt/28129173.html That baby is very cute. Not that I *wouldn't* wish new parents the best, but I definitely wish them the best after reading the article. Clay seems to have it together pretty well. Honestly, the child has less to worry about wrt the age/sexuality differences and the whole "being born out of wedlock" thing than he does with the fact that he has Foster genes. Those people are *crazy*. {g} Also, wrt the RS interview (which I'm guessing, if he really said "I am not gay", he's forgotten or is ignoring based on this interview), it's pretty clear and should be clear to any fans who aren't batshit crazy, that he wasn't lying or betraying them, he was protecting his mom by not coming out. Though I guess the fans who aren't batshit crazy wouldn't think he was betraying them no matter what he did, so I guess it doesn't even matter.

Poeia- 09-24-2008

He told his mother 4 years ago and his brother a year after that. The RS interview was 5 years ago. Obviously he wasn't ready to discuss it with other people yet. That's his right.

amysusanne- 09-24-2008

I found this one courtesy of ONTD: http://theclayboard.yuku.com/sreply/1389508/t/People-Magazine-Cover-amp-Article-PLS-READ-merged-.html Wow. Seriously? Seriously? Someone needs to sit her down and explain many, many, many things about life.

Josiah Lemming got a record deal, but Idol is trying to keep it from hitting shelves. The most suprising thing to me about this report is that he is only one of 4 contestants to get a deal this year. Obviously David and David got them. What surprises me is that the 4th one is Christy Lee Cook whose album is already out. I find it hard to believe that some of the others haven't gotten deals.
