He straight up said he was doing a cover of a cover.
So sez the Huntington, West Virginia Herald Dispatch: First of all, let me thank David for telling me whose version he was doing so I didn’t have to search it out (Whitesnake, if you missed it.).
Are you talking about "Ole Shep"? That damn song came up on my Pandora playlist yesterday and I about had to curl up under my desk and cry.
"Ole Shep is gone where the good doggies go/No More with Ole Shep will I roam..."
DAMMIT! There's something in my eye. Stupid allergies.

Oh, god...no. I forgot that song existed. The one I'm talking about is the one where the little urchin girl and her little urchin dog are out in the cold and taken in by some woman and, totally pointlessly, they both die in their sleep . I googled it (and am once again traumatized) and it's called "Me and Little Andy". It's possibly the worst song *ever*. I remember a story Dolly told once (it's probably a standard story of hers) about how a guy stood up at a show once and shouted, "it's bad enough you killed the little girl, but did you have to kill the dog too?". I agree.
He straight up said he was doing a cover of a cover.
Thanks. Sounds like the DJ probably just doesn't like him.
radiosweetheart- 03-26-2008
Oh crap! Those lyrics! I'm almost afraid to try to track down a recording for fear of dying from the overwhelming misery of it all. I totally want Kristy Lee to do that song, now. Killing a small child and a dog (and smiling while she does it, cuz you just know girlfriend would flash those pearly whites like there was no tomorrow) would definitely get her voted off. If blatant and pandering patriotism doesn't do the trick. *fingers crossed*
amysusanne- 03-26-2008
She *would* smile, wouldn't she?
KLC singing that last night was the equivalent of Hayley's rising skirts last year. At least Hayley did it all with a wink and a "yeah, I'm getting voted out, so what?" attitude. What's Kristy gonna do next week? "The Star Spangled Banner"? Or maybe pull "Amazing Grace" out again? Surely Toby Keith has some "kick the asses of foreigners" song that she could get people to rally around!!
radiosweetheart- 03-26-2008
Since it's important to do research before choosing a favorite I decided to revisit "Hello" and "Billie Jean." Research indicates that I love David C. Love him into little bad hair funny looking rocker boy bits.
But much more thorough investigation is necessary in order to prove my hypothesis.
that is all.

Love him into little bad hair funny looking rocker boy bits.
Don't forget to include the enormous skull!!
galaxygirl- 03-26-2008
Kristy Lee needs to go. Go far far away from my TV screen. That song is an abomination!
To vote her off would be unpatriotic, which is exactly why she picked it /snerk
I think we'll be stuck with her for at least two more weeks since next week is Country/Dolly week and that's her best genre.
amysusanne- 03-26-2008
People don't like her, though. Obviously she was pandering last night and obviously she's going to get votes for it, but I have faith that both the cynics, the fans of the boys and my mom (who apparently voted for Brooke about fifty times while watching a tivo'd DwTS) will put her no higher than next to last. I'm worried that it'll actually be Ramielle to go home tonight, but I don't think that's because KLC's evil plan for Red State domination actually worked out all that favorably.
But, back to people not liking her: I don't even really think country week is going to help her that much. I know that I personally hate her, but stepping back and acknowledging that my opinion isn't the only opinion, it still seems that she only has a small fanbase that's keeping her in, but only barely. She did well last week (she and Amanda are the only two I've seen), but was still in the bottom. She did a country cover (a legitimate country cover) the week before and blew it. I don't think anything short of Carrie Underwood possessing her body for the three minutes she's on stage is going to help her out.
Changing the subject, it occurred to me while watching TMZ a moment ago (where they gleefully pointed out Simon's diss at Archie's Dad last night) that Simon either forgot that he isn't supposed to actually know anything about music or he read the song list in advance of the show. I was actually shocked that he knew Lee Greenwood's name *and* that he managed to name the man who gave us that awful song Archie sang. He was off his game. It already freaks me out when Paula is lucid, I don't need Simon being *smart*.
galaxygirl- 03-26-2008
I don't even think she'll be in the bottom three tonight. I firmly believe Ramiele, Chikezie and Jason will be bottom three, and any of them can go home. Which coincidentally is also what DialIdol says.
I was so worried about Jason I even threw some votes in his direction every time I messed up on David's number  I hope it helped him a little
amysusanne- 03-26-2008
Wow. I'm stunned. I knew the second that Ryan sent Chikeze over that KLC was safe, but only because I was convinced that Ramielle was going home no matter who was in the bottom three and Syesha seemed obvious as the third. But, Jason? Wow. His fans better step up because I was under the impression that he could do no wrong and based on the comments I see from bystanders, his fans aren't exactly voting for the performance. And even though it wasn't his best performance (pretending that that matters), he was still better than Archie.
I would have been sad if Syesha went, but she's the only bottom threer that I called.
eta: I haven't been to DialIdol yet this year. It's so unpredictable until the top ten, but I guess now is the point where it gets easy for them. Though they don't even have to measure Cook's votes to predict he's at the top.
eta again: is the board really slow tonight? I'd post that in a technical forum, but it's taking five minutes to load anything at all.
galaxygirl- 03-26-2008
The top of Kimberly Locke's dress looked horribly uncomfortable.
I can't say I'm surprised to see Chikezie go, I was surprised to see Syesha in the bottom three, because I thought she was one of the better ones.
I wish they would jut STFU about Idol Gives Back, I'm getting really tired of it.
eta, just downloaded the Billy Jean studio version and man, it sounds even better than it did live last night. It's simply amazing.
amysusanne- 03-28-2008
Wow. Next week really is Dolly Parton week instead of a more generic country theme. That's both awesome and cringeworthy. I can't even imagine what half those folks will do with her music, but it's not going to be pretty. And David Archuletta might have the votes to let him keep coasting, but there's no way he's not going to crash. It's going to be sad and beautiful all at once. I'm sure that Daddy is displeased that the song pool has been narrowed down for him by the specificity of the theme.
And please let KLC do "9 to 5". Please, please, please. Because that, imo, has the potential to be just as bad as "Eight Days a Week".
radiosweetheart- 03-28-2008
I will have David C's babies if he sings Why'd You Come in Here Lookin' Like That?
Gender pronouns can be easily switched and he would rock that song.
Anyone doing Backwoods Barbie instantly gets my vote, too.
I love Dolly!
Namaste- 03-28-2008
I wonder if they came up with "Dolly" week at the moment during auditions when Paula told one girl to learn and perform a Dolly Parton song -- and she didn't know any. (But Ryan, of course, started singing one to her.)
amysusanne- 03-28-2008
I love Dolly!
Me too. In spite of genuinely liking many of the contestants this year, I'm going to enjoy watching her interact with them more than anything else on the show.
Anyone doing "Jolene" gets my vote as long as they don't completely massacre it. I suggest Syesha because it would be nice to hear her sing a song where she *isn't* the other woman for a change.
I do hope that they put "I Will Always Love You" on the do not sing list.
