Dolly Parton and Mariah Carey (ick) are the other two. I'm a little disappointed that Amanda went home.

radiosweetheart- 03-19-2008

Wow. I love Dolly. Love her to little bitty Dolly pieces-but that's gonna be awkward. I just cannot wait to see David A's interpretation of 'To Daddy.'

Mariah Carey night is a train wreck waiting to happen.

Mariah Carey night is a train wreck waiting to happen. So is Mariah Carey. Thank you. I'll be here all week. Try the veal.

radiosweetheart- 03-20-2008

I'm going to have to skip Mariah Carey week. My doctor's told me I'm only allowed to hear 5 bars of unnecessary vocal runs per week as it effects my blood pressure in a very negative manner.

Maybe Mariah week will be like Gwen Stefani or JLo week last year where they didn't do their music. They did Latin week with JLo (one of the worst episodes ever) and Gwen's music and her influences. Even as prolific of a songwriter as Dolly is, they might have her as the mentor for Country Week. I believe Kenny Rogers did a country week last year or year before last. There aren't that many artists who could go on, be mentors, and have a body of work substantial enough to be the theme too.

I'm convinced that Dolly's week will be Country week(there will be lots of ff-ing through that show in our house), ALW's week will be Musical week(I'm keeping my fingers crossed for David C doing a song from Jesus Christ Superstar), but I have a hard time coming up with a theme week for the Mariah trainwreck week. I can't wait for next week's 'songs from the year you were born in' night.

Mariah + R&B... yuck! Maybe it could be 90's night since she was so popular throughout the 90's. Or maybe even something like songs from the current Top 100. Or songs with impossibly high notes that only dogs can hear night.

I'm not going to be too excited if it turns out to be r&b night.

It could be "Divas" night. Ack! Imagine our beloved David Cook singing a Whitney Houston song. LOL

It could be "Divas" night. Ack! Imagine our beloved David Cook singing a Whitney Houston song. LOL Noooooooooo For all you other David C fans out here: David's old band Axium covering Radiohead's Creep. And boy, he does have a glory note in him Wink

galaxygirl- 03-25-2008

I think I'm saying this every week, but damn, David hit it out of the damn ballpark again. Easily the best of the night. Also really good were Michael and Syesha. Kristie was good for her standard, very clever song choice. I didn't like Archie, Carly messed up the ending, Brooke and Jason were meh. Chikezie and Ramielle were very forgettable. My bottom three Chikezie, Ramiele and Brooke/Jason with Rami going home.

radiosweetheart- 03-25-2008

David C was the hit of the night-no doubt about it. Kristy Lee needs to go. Go far far away from my TV screen. That song is an abomination!

Wow. I love Dolly. Love her to little bitty Dolly pieces-but that's gonna be awkward. I just cannot wait to see David A's interpretation of 'To Daddy.' What's that fucking song where the dog dies? I want David A. or KLC to do that because there's just no way they'd survive it. That is, if KLC makes it through tonight's vote. It seems that people think that her pandering would win her votes (and I don't disagree) but I think it lost her some votes, so she should even out and be bottom three again easily. At least that's what I'm telling myself because I need that off of my television right now. Simon's right..."God Bless the USA" *is* a brilliant song, but that doesn't mean it's not also a really shitty song. I was 100% behind their assesment of David A.'s "Up With People" bullshit, but if they're gonna call him out then someone should have pointed out that KLC wasn't performing at a high school assembly and probably shouldn't have behaved as such. Chikeze gets shit for cheesing out with the audience, but KLC gets nothing for her little sit and stand and wave the flag nonsense? Please. Which isn't actually why I came here, but whatever. {g} Anyway, like was mentioned, I'm pretty sure that Dolly will be country week. And there's no way that they'd ever force the con-*test*-('")ants to sing Mariah songs. They're not sadists. Not to that extent anyway. Love her or hate her, those are hard songs to sing. It's one thing to go all "never sing Stevie" and then force the con-*test*-('")ants into Stevie Week, but Mariah's in another universe. But, to the point: I came here because I still haven't seen last week's (it's in the tivo and I want to scan through) but was confused this morning when I heard someone bitching about David C. on the radio. They said that a band complained "last week" that he'd ripped off their version with no credit? Did he actually say that he was doing Whitesnake? Because, really, credit or no, I can't see Whitesnake giving a crap, but if he namechecked them then I really don't see the issue. (Note: I'm getting that whole Whitesnake thing from here because I'm also behind on my Jacob/Joe recaps, so I don't even know what song he did or what Beatles song Whitesnake has done or...whatever.)Or are they referring to the previous week with "Elenor Rigby"? Did that turn out to be someone else's arrangement? I assumed it was, but not knowing that version, I had no idea who it would be. I'm just wondering who it is that bitched about DC or, you know, if the morning drive team was creating make believe controversy.
