premiere reviews But as the show headed into its fourth season, it was clear that “House” needed to really shake things up, and the “Survivor”-style competition that House uses to weed out potential employees is quite entertaining. I hope it’s not over too soon...
This is in a very similar vein to the review on msn.com entertainment section. They gave the premiere 4 stars. Unfortunately, my linking skills are non-existent.

Oh cripes! If she is either House or Cuddy's (or both!) long lost illegitimate child, I'll vomit. The shark will have well and truly been jumped.
I'll throw a hissy fit if that happens. Maybe she's related to Stacy. Maybe she has a criminal record. I'm just sick of the whole 'mysterious woman who intrigues House' thing. Enough already! Why can't we have a mysterious guy that intrigues House? Other than Wilson, I mean.

Another positive review about tonight's premiere from Alan Sepinwall of the Newark Star-Ledger. OT: beware of slight spoilers for "The Unit" and "My Name is Earl" in this article.

I adore these quotes:
The good doctor (played, as always, by the living, breathing symbol of all that's wrong with the Emmys, Hugh Laurie) opens the season determined to prove he can do without any help, largely by ignoring patients and practicing on his Flying V guitar.
and
Expect the sidekicks -- all of whom are still in the regular cast, though they only appear briefly in the first two episodes -- to return to the fold eventually, but it's a nice change of pace to see House have to deal with new people whom he has to abuse in new ways (and who, in turn, haven't yet figured out how to manipulate House).

It's all spin, though. Who of the five primary cast members doesn't intrigue House? Male or female, House is up in everybody's business and figuring everybody out regardless. A "mysterious female" just plays well for the Ausiellos of the world.
And on that theme, the child Cuddy gave up for adoption? Tritter's daughter? Inquiring minds want to know. (Kristen has obviously been reading badfanfic recently).
She doesn't have to read badfanfic, her entire column is badfanfic.
We don't have any confirmation on who the final two are (and since "two" and "a couple" get thrown around the most, I'm going to assume that's really going to be the case and they're not adding three), only that it's two of the five "finalists" that we keep seeing everywhere. Good money says OW is one of them simply because I don't look for them to add two new male characters and OW is more well known than AD. That's purely speculation and educated guessing, but even if they weren't consciously looking for the more well known of the two it's still in there. OW has had a higher profile these last couple of years than AD's ever had. My guess for #2 is either Peter or Kal. Kal would seem to be the front runner just because of his age and cult appeal, but it could be a matter of whether he wants a steady tv gig or not.
Anyway, is that Elisabeth Moss in that one new promo pic from #4? I can't get the previous page of this thread to load to see if that's already been discussed. It's not a good morning for the internets.

Maybe she has a criminal record.
Bizarrely, when they said it was a big secret, my brain immediately leapt to "OMG, she killed someone!" I think it's because when I was applying to college, there was a girl whose admission to Harvard was rescinded when they found out she kinda sorta failed to mention killing her mother.

Are talking about the pic with OW? If that's the one, I mentioned earlier that it's Azura Skye, whom I've always liked in her supporting and guest roles in television and film. I'm quite happy that she'll be the PotW.
Elisabeth Moss is a regular on Mad Men.

I wonder if we'll have any clinic patients the first few episodes? Sadly I'm guessing not since House will be so preoccupied with not hiring anyone, and the guitar thing.

Oh and yeah, I want to marry that quote blacktop.

Oh, I like her. I've liked her since "Zoe, Duncan, Jack and Jane...". I can barely see her on this monitor. I'm usually not good for really investigating the promo pictures until I'm at home on a monitor that wasn't designed for the purpose of playing pong. :-P
eta: and I'm sorry that I didn't see your previous mention of it, but for about two hours this board wouldn't load for shit and when it did it wasn't really up for the back and forth between pages. I promise I wasn't ignoring the previous posts for the sake of hearing my own voice.
Elisabeth Moss is a regular on Mad Men.
Of that I am aware. I'm pretty sure they're finished for now, though, so should she want to run over and do a guest spot on "House" she could probably work it in. But, I'm not turning down Azure.

The new clip on Yahoo (see spoiler thread) has House revenging on Wilson by erasing his Tivo.
Does anyone know what show they were talking about?

Honestly, I can live through one episode without the ducklings. I can most definitely live through one episode without Cuddy. I can even live through one episode without Wilson.
That's tricky for me. I probably don't need to repteat myself but I will, I can live without the ducklings. I know I can live without Cuddy, there have been episodes where she's barely registered and I can't even remember her scene at the end and it never bothers me.
Wilson, if there was a legitimate reason that he wasn't in the episode I'd probably be fine. Like if he was out of town or something, that I could live with. But if was theoretically still in the hospital and they just never showed him, well that I don't know if I could deal with.
saara_zaara- 09-25-2007
Thing is, we know there's an upcoming ep where House goes to visit the CIA. Who, if anyone, is going to go with him on that trip? Will we get a Wilson-less, Cuddy-less, maybe a cottage & one or other of the newbies with him? Or no one at all & will Michael Michele's presence compensate (I say probably no & would like to do the following to DS
Anyway, the whole "Thirteen has a big secret" thing - anyone else find it leaves them cold? I mean, if its something stupid (Tritter's lovechild, House's daughter) DS is really going to get mocked or its going to turn out to be nothing. Maybe she has a kid. IDK.

I think we're safe in assuming that it's nothing close to anything that Kristin would ever come up with, so anything involving her being the child of anyone related to the show is probably not going to happen. It'll probably be something simple, whether it's interesting simple or exciting simple. OW's job is to make assholes like Kristin pay attention to the show. Most things considered "twists" or "revelations" aren't that big of a deal to people like us who sit around tearing shows apart and breaking them down into the tiniest pieces, but they gotta spin it to make the TV gossip columnists include a blurb in their colums. Mission accomplished.

I would love it if the big secret had something to do with medicine:
Perhaps Thirteen did not actually finish medical school but is a skilled medical practitioner all the same, would House keep her on in that case? Maybe Thirteen has a child or sibling with a disability. Maybe she has a long-term degenerative disease such as MS.
I think the possibilities are intriguing and vast. I am looking forward to seeing in which direction TPTB take all of these new characters.
