The promo pics are for episode 3, House doesn't get hit until episode 4. Must be something else :)

The hand/arm thing is being discussed on another board I'm active in (no not THAT one)--I blew it up and at first I couldn't decide if it wasn't a pressure mark from the watch (from the way the band bites into his wrist). But it does look like a bruise. Now, whether the bruise is House's or Hugh's is another question.
I'm more interested in why he's holding his arm like that (another take is that its a contemplative stance rather than "my arm hurts" stance)? I was never a believer in the psychosomatic pain coming from guilt. House expresses his guilt and his feelings (but not ever in front of anyone)--we see it come through as his brooding (which he does so very well). So I think his arm really hurts. I guess we'll have to wait until the second week of October to find out eh?

Yeah, I mean it's over half his hand, so it doesn't look like just a typical mark. Looking at it on a much better monitor, I have to go with vitawash and say it looks more like a burn or rash than an actual bruise. Maybe whatever that is between a skin burn and a bruise. Like something actually happened to him rather than he just hit it on something (or someone).
Like 407 said, the punch doesn't happen until #4 (and I'm sorry I added some confusion to that, I was just linking the two in concept, not assuming they were a part of the same event), so this would predate that. That doesn't mean he couldn't hit someone, though.
And I agree, sasmom, I find the way he's holding his arm interesting. It could just be contemplative, but it looks like he's holding it still for a reason, i.e., he's in some kind of pain. Then again, it's all about context and that could just be a single blip that means nothing at all. I remember seeing stills from "Three Stories" and thinking that we were going to have some sort of Cuddy/Stacy confrontation based on their stances in a particular promo photo. That didn't actually turn out to be the case at all, it just looked that way in that split second that the photo was taken in.

I saw that weird House holding arm pic yesterday and had a thought towards the writers' old "House in psychosomatic pain" thing as well. I'm with sasmom on that issue. Give the guy a break... But then I recalled reading the latest tv guide interview with Hugh where the question is: "What's new? Who's new?" And Hugh responds that his right elbow pain is new and his eyes are worse. I thought that he was talking about himself (vs. his character) but maybe not.

I'm pretty sure he was talking about himself. I mean, he could be talking about House, but that didn't seem to be the way the joke read to me.
I guess I'm in the minority, though, because psychosomatic pain never even crossed my mind, particularly when there's a big, honkin' red mark on his hand.

While it was the first thing I thought of, I'm sure that's not what it is. Do we really need to revisit that? I don't have any better suggestions, I just don't think it's the psychosomatic pain again.

The big red mark is rather telling. But I was talking more about the holding of the opposite arm. I honestly didn't see the big thing on this hand until I saw the larger versions of the pics today. It kinda looks like a burn to me though.

Finally caught up.
When I read the TVguide interview I interpreted the elbow remark to be about House not Hugh as well. Don't know why. Now that it fits with the picture I'm pretty sure of it. Makes me wonder what might be going on with House's eyes. Maybe they are going to explain the glasses after all (after having neglected to do so in Half-Wit).
The discoloration on House's hand could also be from something having been spilled over it, couldn't it? It's seems unlikely but possible. I'm looking forward to finding out what's going on with that.
... why do I keep getting logged out?

to21be, when you log in make sure you check the "automatically log in every time" box, otherwise it logs you out after you post or switch threads. If you still have problems pm me.

There appears to be at least some continuity error going on in the scene with Chase, Cameron & House. Unless she does some strange manuever in the middle of the scene, Cameron is carrying her bag two different ways in the two photos.
And why does some perverse part of me want to see House getting into a knock-down-drag-down-hair-pulling kind of girly fight...enough such that he gets nasty red welts everywhere and a boo-boo on his elbow?

Me too! (then Wilson can make it all better..use your imagination).
Ahem, I know this isn't the right ep, but the next one (Guardian Angel) is the one where we know he gets hit by one of the newbies. For some reason I want it to be Peter Jacobsen's character (Taub? IIRC).

Are we sure it's that he gets "hit" by one of the newbies and not "hit on?" Because both scenarios sound fairly delicious to me.

The photographers on set take photos during rehearsals. The two photos could be from a scene run through, in which it wasn't important if she switches shoulders. Or maybe they really messed up...
I guess in the age of digital cameras that don't make noise and don't need a flash they could be taking photos during the actual shooting as well. Does anyone know?

Because your perverseness is evil? :)

Coming late for the party, but I find it slightly creepy that Chase and Cameron look so much alike in those promo pics. Kinda like how Brad Pitt always morphs into whoever he's dating at the time. As I mentioned before it shocked me to see how skinny JMo looks in that picture, but that's probably just me.
I still want to smack Ausiello on his head. His spoiler stuff for other shows annoys me too, it's not just House. Whenever I'm reading stuff he writes about Lost I get violent tendencies too.

Maybe Amber put her heel through his hand?
And in fact now I think about it there's nothing that says its one of the guys that hits House, it actually might be one of the women.
I think we still don't know what the "97 seconds" refers to, do we?
