The official caption for the photo of Kal Penn and Peter Jacobsen from episode three says that they're working together because House split the candidates into team based on gender. Hah! He would do that.

Ranee- 09-19-2007

Guardian angels - but are they really? The PotW's clearly aren't if they are hallucinations or something, House is no guardian angel to the newbies (that idea is hysterical & if they are going a Charlie's Angel thing, three women candidates and who's the guy backing Bosley? Chase? Cuddy?!) Plus is Cameron being honest here? it would jive with the interview about the goody-goody aspects of her character, but is this going to turn out to be another example of "kiss & stab" by her?

407- 09-19-2007

*snort* Siriusly - you know that I run this place, right? Hee. Splitting the candidates based on gender would explain the clip of Olivia Wilde and Anne Dudek we saw - I presume they get teamed up. Also, I love Kal Penn. Just wanted to get that out there. Ranee - nice point. Cameron teaching the n00bs about House seems slightly iffy to me. I don't know, I can't really put my finger on what it is.

Siriusly- 09-19-2007

Considering you're talking about a literal kiss-and-stab and not a metaphorical one, I'd guess it's a genuine effort to help the candidate. She IS a goody-goody. 407-- Yeah, I did. I was just being a kiss-ass and passive-aggressive about my hatred of the other forum, because we're supposed to be nice here.

Why does Cameron teaching the newbies seem so weird? It's not like she wasn't helpful to Foreman when he first joined the staff. This time she's got 3 more years of experience.

Ranee- 09-19-2007

Metaphorical & clueless might fit too - witness the framed journal she gave Foreman. And even when she tried to be goody-goody in earlier seasons it often backfired or she misunderstood what was going on with the other person. Just a thought, obviously we'll have to see, but since I've never thought JMo was completely on track with some of the darker aspects of Cameron I tend to take the comment that she's "trying to get the do-good aspects out of heself" (the quote in the youtube interview was something along these lines) as maybe more negative than others. ETA- bailey, sure maybe it does hark back to that, but it was a long time ago & Cameron seems to have changed a lot, that I have trouble casting her back in that role.

vitawash99- 09-19-2007

Oh, btw, also new spoilery - that House & Cameron exchange Ausiello refers to - it may be hysterical, but I hear that House calls her a hooker. Gee. I was thinking he'd just pull her hair and run away. Cameron mentoring makes sense to me - the point of her leaving was supposed to be that she'd learned everything she could, and she seems like she'd be good in that position.

ETA- bailey, sure maybe it does hark back to that, but it was a long time ago & Cameron seems to have changed a lot, that I have trouble casting her back in that role. To be fair, neither of these newbies has either tried to get her eliminated from the team, stolen her article or stabbed her. There's no reason for her not to be kind or useful to them. And on the flipside, she does want House to be "fine." She probably realizes, just as everyone else does, that House needs a functional team.

Cameron mentoring makes sense to me - the point of her leaving was supposed to be that she'd learned everything she could, and she seems like she'd be good in that position. That's an interesting thought, Cameron as teacher. I wonder what she thinks its appropriate to teach the newbie about House. No offense to anyone who's a teacher, you have an under-valued job, but I can see House, if he gets wind of this, going the "those who can, do; those who can't, teach" route just to be a bastard.

Or on the flipside, maybe she's teaching the newbie a trick to score against House. If House has them set up on this crazy Survivor-like game she might teach a newbie something he wouldn't expect them to come back with.

If House has them set up on this crazy Survivor-like game she might teach a newbie something he wouldn't expect them to come back with. Now that would be funny! Do we know which of the newbies it is, or just that its one of the guys? Any thoughts who might gravitate to Cameron or she might offer to help?

houserocket7- 09-19-2007

Frankly, given Chase's obvious understanding of House and his motives, I think Chase would be a far better choice as a mentor.

407- 09-19-2007

All we know is that it's a newbie, sorry :D Technically, though, House is a teacher, so he can't really say anything...

vitawash99- 09-19-2007

Frankly, given Chase's obvious understanding of House and his motives, I think Chase would be a far better choice as a mentor. I think that bit from the B-roll, where one of the newbies asks Chase if he has any tips about working for House, and Chase says no, suggests that Chase is not even slightly interested in the job. Which is perfectly in character for him, really.

saara_zaara- 09-19-2007

True, Chase may have the insight but I doubt he's bothered to share it given his history with House, never mind its tough if he's in surgery (got to concentrate, you know!). (Was that Kal Penn in the surgery scene with him?)
