It good to know that they think RSL's movie debut was in Dead Poets...

97 seconds for H/W to become canon. There, that mystery's solved. What? Can anyone prove me wrong?
saara_zaara- 09-18-2007
I'd argue that only needs 9 seconds (more than enough time for a kiss).
But the only person who might be able to tell us is sasmom who posted the spoiler - where are you?! we need more info!
LightMyCandle- 09-18-2007
Sure they don't actually need that much time but I want to sit back and enjoy if for a minute and a half. Didn't you get the memo? It's all about ME!
Siriusly- 09-18-2007
Ausiello is major ICK and I don't know, KJ...I'm personally just jealous. Her job is like, the ideal position. So I can't say anything about her because I'm completely biased and want to BE her. Or David Shore. Either/or.
Ausiello just needs to stop. I mean, he asks some things that really are a part of the fandom (threesomes, HELLO!) except he does it in this crazy way that's just totally gauche and not even very accurate-- like, doesn't he know the OT3 of House fans is usually House/Wilson/Cuddy? I for one have seen MAYBE one House/Cameron/Cuddy fic in my life and you basically can't google "House fanfiction" without running into House/Wilson/Cuddy. Even if you don't ship them!
And how effing annoying is it that all we have for episode three is its TITLE? At the Emmys DS mentioned that they're already on their SEVENTH episode over at the studio, and yet we're SEVEN DAYS away from the FIRST NEW EPISODE IN FOUR MONTHS! And all we have to go on for the next six that they've apparently already done are two titles and the tantalizing notion that they're adding two cast members...
Where have all the spoilers gone? Long time passing...
ETA: Oh, the new site! It's a little silly. Okay, a lot. Seeing bios now involves clicking the character's name instead of the actor's (in case the fans aren't delusional enough already?), sifting through graphics to get actual footage/pictures, and !
New RSL pictures!
All is forgiven.

Actually, that's a good question. Remember the uproar when the first ep summary got posted last week (was it only last week, but we did actually get a huge spoiler there for the first ep) - that poster on the other site mentioned they had the screener for the two eps & that they would post the second ep summary the next day or so. They seem to have disappeared without doing so. No idea why, but anyway, a lot of other sources seem to have had crack downs (casting sides etc). IMO that's going to be the state of affairs for the next few months & maybe longer. Seems to be the way the House folks want it and/or they have a lot more control over what they let out. Other shows - either they deliberately leak more or they have less control (one show I follow had the first two eps leak last week unfinished without music & sound effects - that fandom's got very mixed thoughts about the leaks. Its a fandom where the show runner blogs & lets out spoilers in a pretty nice controlled way, but he's upset about incompetence & unfinished work on the loose & understandably so).
Siriusly- 09-18-2007
I really don't understand the massive secrecy about it, though. I understand from a ratings point of view the fear that if too much is leaked folks won't watch the actual show, but even that is kind of unfounded. It's more than a little paranoid to be this controlling of spoiler sources. We should DEFINITELY know more than we do. Spoilers are, IMHO, one of those aspects of popular television shows that should be available to people who actively search for them and relatively on the down-low so that the casual viewer won't accidentally find out more than he/she wants to know.
I mean, the art of making a television show is also a business. But this level of airtight security around "House" production seems so ridiculous. It's easier to catch satellite images of a government building on GoogleEarth than it is to find information on an upcoming "House" episode, and something feels wrong about that.
Has anyone here been a fan since Season One was airing? I'll admit I came to the famdom late (summer '06 before Season Three), but how were spoilers back then? Better or worse?

No, he wouldn't know, and it's not his job to know, especially for a show that has a relatively small and less vocal fandom. He might know/have known comparably similar info about Gilmore Girls, Veronica Mars, or Lost, but they have cult fanbases. House is a different animal altogether. Ausiello watches our show as a casual viewer and a critic, not as a fan or a supporter. He's actually not the idiot that he seems like when he's in his "spoiler" persona. I listen to the TV Guide podcast because I'm a pop culture junkie, and he's exceptionally critical of the choices that producers, writers, and actors make, so I was interested to hear that he "loooved" the first two episodes. He wouldn't be so effusive just to score some spoilers from the producers, because honestly, he generally doesn't care about House that much, and he's going to get spoilers anyway.
Apologies for defending Ausiello. I really do find him annoying. I just feel like being fair-minded.
Siriusly- 09-18-2007
I don't need him to do anything that's not in his job description, but I've never appreciated a single spoiler he's gotten about the show. I mean, this is a separate issue, but you say he doesn't care much. Well, he's CONSTANTLY pushing H/Cu and H/Cam, and if he can do that, he can do his shipping homework.
saara_zaara- 09-18-2007
misere, where can I find the podcast you refer to? I'm curious now to see the difference between the two aspects of Ausiello.
Thing that bugs me about him in spoiler mode is (even putting aside the H/Cam vs H/Cuddy debates) he rarely provides much of any spoilers that didn't have some shippy twist to them (Jule Warner, the Michael Michele info etc etc) - is this all they feed him or does he add that extra shippy layer? I assume that he's not getting other spoilers he's not reporting, but I find it interesting in light of the tight control that's apparently placed on House spoilers that this is (all?) that the producers are apparently wiling to let out to him, rather than anything maybe more substantial?
misere- 09-18-2007
Well, he's CONSTANTLY pushing H/Cu and H/Cam, and if he can do that, he can do his shipping homework.
He's not pushing for those pairings; he's asking about them because they're the most logical possibilities, especially since they have a canon basis. From the perspective of a person whose job is to know television and the industry, there isn't any point in asking about H/W or H/W/Cu except as a joke. I'm really not trying to offend anyone here, but H/W/Cu has a homosexual emphasis, and I'm fine with that on television and in real life, but I also think that the producers will never actually go there. Not on network. Not in the U.S. Not on FOX. IMO, Ausiello thinks that too, so why ask about it?
ETA: saara_zaara, the podcast is here. Maitland McDonagh, the movie critic, is really great. Ausiello is still annoying, just not as much of an idiot.
Ranee- 09-18-2007
IMo we're all getting a bit stir crazy about the lack of spoilers & a week to go. It does strike me that this show has absolutely the least amount of information straying out there - anyone think its because they are assessing internally where the season is likely to go & they don't want to leak something about a new cast member, for example, that ultimately turns out not to be the case.
And then you've got the aborted proposal from the Chameron arc etc etc - they've got to be gun shy after that, surely??
Siriusly- 09-18-2007
I also realize that the producers will never actually go there. Not on network. Not in the U.S. Not on FOX. Ausiello knows that too, so why ask about it?
This is not the argument/can of worms I ment to provoke (for the record, I completely disagree and find the assumption of some fans that they know all about the television industry arrogant and unnecessarily cynical). The fact of the matter is, Ausiello's the one who asked RSL about the H/W tension once, and so I wasn't complaining about him because he didn't support MY ship enough. Hardly. I was complaining that if you're even going to bring up threesomes with producers (which, as some people here have pointed out, fake and jokey to begin with), why bring up those? It's not about what has the best chance of becoming canon, because threesomes likely won't. It's about the stupidity and lack of fan support for such a question, anyway. I think the person who's best articulated my issue with Ausiello is saara:
I find it interesting in light of the tight control that's apparently placed on House spoilers that this is (all?) that the producers are apparently wiling to let out to him, rather than anything maybe more substantial?
That's really the crux of it.
