why in the world does it have to be some jesse spencer/kal penn throw down? it's not thunderdome. It doesn't. And I don't really appreciate that you edited your post after I responded to add that line which makes it look like I was responding to THAT question when I wasn't. You could have made that point in a follow-up post. And I'm sorry if that statement comes across bitchier than it's intended. I don't have the claws out. That's not cool board etiquette. I'm sure if I changed a post in a way that made your followup post look like something it wasn't you would be irritated too. what happens if peter jacobson is the guy who works out and he winds up getting more screentime than any of the other five? Simply put, I want them ALL to go away. Peter, Kal, Olivia, Anne.... I'm not interested in seeing any of them. I'm not looking forward to them and am looking forward to them even less after seeing how wooden the two girls are in the B-roll. I know we're going to get stuck with at least two of them and if it turns out Kal is one of the better actors/more interesting characters, I'll root for him. But, in theory, I don't want any of them to stick around. why set yourself up to not enjoy something just because you're convinced that you won't, especially when this is a show where the guy you like has always been a supporting character along with four other supporting characters? i understand the desire to see more of him, but i don't understand the disappointment and assumption that you're going to see less of him beyond these first couple. jesse spencer saying that he has had some time off doesn't necessarily equal no chase for the first seven episodes. It's a defense mechanism. Expect the worst and hope for the best.

BaileyMy prediction on spoilers is really bad....the only two things I've guessed right are that Chase/Cam would have hair confusion... LMAO! The Chase/Cam hair confusion is really going to screw a lot of people up. How are people going to know who's who now? In almost every conversation I overhear people having about this show it's never "Foreman, Cameron, and Chase", it's always "the black guy, the girl, and the blond". Although I think maybe there could be 10 blonds on the show and Chase would still be the blond. :P

Bessie Mae- 09-14-2007

From the limited scene, I can't make any assessment on the new women. It didn't look like it opened itself to characterization one way or the other. It's possible that once I see them for a significant enough time to form an impression, I won't like them. But, I've had past experience with new characters coming on to shows late in the game and falling in love with them, so I can't rule it out. My biggest worry (even though the rational part of me knew it wasn't going to happen) was that the original ducklings would be gone for good. Since that's clearly not the case, it's going to take me some time to make a decision on the new characters. Unless one of them does something that annoys me or makes me angry right off the bat.

amysusanne- 09-14-2007

It doesn't. And I don't really appreciate that you edited your post after I responded to add that line which makes it look like I was responding to THAT question when I wasn't. i did no such thing and please do *not* imply or outright say that i did. i edited my post to include the bit about kal penn *at* penn that i neglected to include in the first post. that was my second edit. my first edit was cleaning up the post because what i wrote was choppy. all of that happened in five minutes. consider that everyone isn't working on a fast internet connection and that everyone isn't hitting reload every two seconds. i did *not* see your post until the second edit. there were *no* replies when i hit the "edit" button. i have conversations online with people based on what i see on the screen i do *not* twist things or try to make people look stupid by editing posts as such. i never have and i never will. if i wanted to reply to what you said, i would have done such. You could have made that point in a follow-up post. And I'm sorry if that statement comes across bitchier than it's intended. I don't have the claws out. That's not cool board etiquette. no, it's not. which is why i don't do it. I'm sure if I changed a post in a way that made your followup post look like something it wasn't you would be irritated too. i probably wouldn't have assumed that you did that. you could have asked me privately, though, before publicly accusing me of being deceiptful and trying to make you look stupid. i will be extra careful, in the future, should i respond to anything you say to preview it before hitting send so that there is absolutely no reason for me to go back and edit, even if it's just for a stray comma. i'm out, though. carry on. edited to test the edit timestamp. edited a second time because no timestamp appeared. second test done at 1103pm eastern.

extra_cat- 09-14-2007

The timestamp appears only if the post has been edited after a reply has followed. There wasn't anything about a Jesse/Kal throwdown in the post I repsonded to. Or, if it was, I swear on a stack of House DVDs that I didn't see it. And you know what, maybe that happened. Sorry. You're right. I should have asked you about it privately. The timestamp told me you edited after I replied and since I don't remember seeing that bit about a Jesse/Kal throwdown until I got back home from going out tonight, I concluded that it had been added. I could be wrong. It's happened before. LOL Please accept my public apology for not seeing that part of the original post. I think I'm too emotionally invested right now to be thinking clearly and it gets worse when I get the message to just suck it up because CCF will be back. For all we know, they'll be back for a minute an episode because there won't be room for them. Those of us with concerns have a real reason to be concerned; and while I'm sure some of you are sick of hearing it, we're afraid that if we don't speak up, should TPTB have scouts on the boards, they'll think that it doesn't matter to the long time viewers if CCF come back--when it clearly DOES matter to a lot of us.

310Daisy- 09-14-2007

I am a bit surprised that the new promotional S4 clips have upset so many. From the insights provided, I already like the new duckling characters, and I don't see them at all as replications of CCF. In fact, I'm kind of hoping they'll all stay. I really enjoyed the RSL and LE interviews, but the JM one just reinforced my opinion that JM doesn't understand the Cameron character very well, as she goes on about how Cameron always wants to do what's right regarding the patient and how she's been such a do-gooder. And I, too, am baffled at why she'd be an ER doctor. But, of course, it's completely unrealistic that all three ducklings would return to PPTH to begin with... In any case, I can hardly wait for S4 to begin!

Ranee- 09-14-2007

I re-watched the clips & I have to say TPTB strike me as doing a completely crappy job at drawing women characters. For starters, as you say 310Daisy, it doesn't help that JMo comes off as being a bit clueless about Cameron (getting the do-gooding out of her system? IMO that happened a long, long time ago). And the lack of definition on 13 & Amber? And that its going to be funny that Amber's the bitch? 13 doesn't warrant a name? DS is going to have to prove to me that he hasn't lost his mind wrt these women characters.

extra_cat- 09-14-2007

I thought the idea of Cameron getting the "do gooding" out of her system was ludicrous too. She hasn't been sweet, ethical Cameron for a very long time. And it seems to me that what we were supposed to take out of the last three years was that Cameron was not nearly as nice as we were supposed to believe she was when we first saw her. If they revert her back to Do-Gooder Cameron for Season 4, I think I'm going to be dizzy.

vitawash99- 09-14-2007

Heh. I chalked that up to JMo having a similar reaction to many of us: "Cameron? In the ER? Huh?" and having to make sense of that. I do think they hinted last season that Cameron found herself slipping away from becoming the person she aspires to be - maybe this is a way that she tries to get herself back on track.

Ranee- 09-14-2007

I admit I don't know a lot about what an ER schedule is like, but maybe, just maybe some of this might turn out to be about Cameron deciding to get a little more work/social balance in her life, after the complete tipping over (we're told) to the work side while working for House. The thing that I always found odd about her statements about no social life was that we know from Chase that he in part chose the job because it gave him time to have a social life (though now I think about this may be from the deleted scene) & how few patients House takes (that is in canon). But contrast that to Chase - surgery's about as high powered & time consuming & stressful a route as you can take & it says something (I'm not sure what yet) about Chase post-House - given the speed that its assumed he went through his medical training to get to House & that he's conceivably spent 4 years in something of a holding pattern, maybe he's reverting to type of his pre-House days or may be there was a reason we saw him assisting in proceedures as well as doing them so much in s1 & s2 (remember we saw him in surgery assisted by House in Deception). It was only in s3 that Chase in surgery mode disappeared (which never made a lot of sense since he is the intensivist). I probably rambled a lot there

FYI, from the spoilers thread, to make life easier, press release for ep 2 from futoncritic here HOUSE AUDITIONS POTENTIAL NEW TEAM MEMBERS AND TREATS A FEMALE ASTRONAUT WHO SEES WHAT SHE HEARS ON "HOUSE" TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, ON FOX House has relented in regard to interviewing potential team members, but he's doing it his own way. He has called in all 40 applicants for the open spots on his team (including guest stars Olivia Wilde, Kal Penn, Peter Jacobson, Anne Dudek and Edi Gathegi), each numbered individually by runners' bibs, and puts them to the test in a Darwinian trial period. As he drills the fellows and arbitrarily fires some along the way, he is approached by a fighter pilot named Greta, a candidate for NASA's astronaut training program. Greta suffers from a neurological disorder in which she is converting visual images to sound, or hearing with her eyes. Knowing that NASA would reject any possibility of her becoming an astronaut if they knew of her problem, Greta begs House to treat her in secret. Keeping her identity private, House takes the case to his fellowship candidates and pits them against one another to come up with an accurate diagnosis. Meanwhile, House is ruffled when he thinks he sees Cameron, Chase and Foreman in the hospital hallways in "The Right Stuff" episode of HOUSE airing Tuesday, Oct. 2 (9:0010:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX. (HOU-402) (TV-14 D) Guest Cast: Essence Atkins as Greta; Anne Dudek as Amber; Olivia Wilde as Thirteen; Peter Jacobson as Taub; Kal Penn as Kutner; Heather Fox as Ashka; Jonathan Sadowski as Mason; Carmen Argenziano as Henry; Edi Gathegi as Cole; Jason Manuel Olazbal as O'Reilly; Andy Comeau as Brennan; Meera Simhan as Jody; Melinda Dahl as Twin 15A; Caitlin Dahl as Twin 15B; Kathryn Adams as Number 23; Larkin Campbell as Dave; Jaimarie Bjorge as Beautiful Doctor; Bobbin Bergstrom as Nurse This is Essence Atkins http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0040591/ :points at precis: CCF be there.

extra_cat- 09-15-2007

I'm questioning their originality again. Calling an austronaut themed episode "The Right Stuff"? There was the book, so there's the connection. There was also the Quantum Leap episode called The Right Stuff which had an austronaut theme. I don't expect the writers from House to know that, but I do wonder how many other series of episodic TV have used that title when an austronaut has been part of the plot? It's not really clever anymore, is it? What are the odds on there being a Tang joke in the script too?

Evil Nurse Brenda- 09-15-2007

Don't forget guys the clips could just be rehearsals and they may be able to act. I liked mystery girl. Oh sorry excuse me while I climb back into my wooly purple jumper.

DIY Sheep- 09-15-2007

Much better... but am I the only one who thinks that guitar is as ugly as heck? It looks like something went wrong in a plastic molding factory. I need a guitar expert to fill me in.

LightMyCandle- 09-15-2007

JM one just reinforced my opinion that JM doesn't understand the Cameron character very well, as she goes on about how Cameron always wants to do what's right regarding the patient and how she's been such a do-gooder. ITA but maybe the idea of her being an ER doc makes no sense to her either and she has to find some excuse to make it seem plausible. But yeah, I haven't seem Cameron being all that concerned with being a good person, ethical person, or even a doctor in general in a long time. My main concern with that interview is that now Cameron is free to do what she wants without worrying about getting fired? Huh? Since when has Cameron ever been afraid to tell House what's what and do it her way and nag him constantly? Honestly, if she was holding back on him before, I fear for the future. Why couldn't she have just gone away? *whines like a spoiled brat* And that its going to be funny that Amber's the bitch? I know but maybe the fact that she's aware that she's a b*tch might make it okay for me. I value self awareness. One of the reasons I can't stand Cameron is that she's a b*tch but she seems to think that she is this great person with these wonderful qualities just trying to survive and do good in such a cruel, cruel world and it drives me nuts that she can't see that she's a b*tch. If Amber knows she's a b*tch then maybe I'll be able to accept it, it doesn't make it right but it makes it more tolerable. That and since I'm failry certain she won't be one of the two to stick around perminately, I'm not going to get too worked up over her just yet. I'm totally with you on the Thirteen thing though.
