Ok, I'm going to suggest something that may may make some people physically ill so get ready...What if the thing that "threatens to change their relationship forever" is...House sleeping with Amber to illustrate to Wilson just what a flakey, crazy evil witch she is? I'm thinking that he thinks he's doing Wilson a favor by sleeping with Amber and exposing her true colors. Wilson's heart is broken figuratively and at some point later on, literally. I don't recall anyone suggesting it upthread. I've been thinking about it and I can't imagine what could be so bad that the friendship could rupture especially if it could survive the Tritter mess. House shagging Amber might be bad enough in Wilson's eyes. Commence firing :)

I just can't imagine Amber agreeing to sleep with House. She seriously hates him. And I also can't imagine House approaching Amber in this manner, even as a manipulation. He is very self-conscious about his leg; I think it would be very difficult for him to show it to a woman he actually loves (let alone to a woman he thinks has no soul).

"threatens to change their relationship forever" I thought the wording was "threatens to change their lives forever." Because that's not exactly the same thing. The thing about their friendship was "testing beyond limits." House already slept with a friend's girl before and he seemed, IMHO, to feel guilty about it. He tried to defend it to Wilson, but it looked to me like he knew it was wrong. And, surely Amber's not that stupid.

I also think Amber is a strong candidate to be on the bus. Wilson's heart...could mean physically as in an illness, or (and I think more likely)...figurtively with both House and Amber on the bus. His heart's on that bus if the two people he loves most are on it. House looks like he's looking at someone he recognizes in that one promo shot. As for going under the knife...maybe he's prepared to save one or the other if need be, by donating an organ or something.

I could buy it being Amber. House doesn't remember that she was on the bus, so he can't tell Wilson about it and in all the chaos in the ER, he just doesn't notice she's there for a while. So perhaps, her going under the knife is the big deal, Wilson wants one thing, House thinks something else would be better (I hardly think he'll just let her die, no matter how much he hates her) and thinks Wilson's too involved to make a good decision. OR, she does need a transplant or something, Wilson volunteers and that makes House angry because it's unnecessarily risky. Just throwing more stuff out there.

The title House's Head obviously refers to the physical injury to his head (kind of looks like a concussion in the thoughts) as well as what's going on in his mind. Therefore, I think it can be inferred that Wilson's Heart follow the same train of thought. I think the mystery POTW is anonymous to us. Obviously he'll recognize him/her because he's seen them before and mentally remarked on their condition. Besides, I saw that House's face as just concentrating very closely on the surroundings around him. I don't think Wilson becomes ill until the end of H's H.

I haven't given up on sick!Wilson, I still think that is a strong possibility, but sick!Amber seems more plausible to me then it used to.

And on a completely different topic...does anyone think that with Half-Wit and now with NMMNG, the writers may be foreshadowing an illness House DOES try to hide...one he actually has but no one would believe him because he's cried wolf now twice. I don't know if that would be the amnesia thing or something for next season, I just can't get over how similar last night was to Half-Wit. Ooh, way to tap into one of my few longed-for plot twists that don't involve HoYay, travlncarrie. Long ago (Season 2, 'round Deception) and far away (TWOP) there was talk on the boards that House could be experiencing increased pain in his injured leg for legit medical reasons that had nothing to with Wilson's happy (nerves growing back) or psychological (guilt over Stacy) hypotheses. And like an addict chasing their original high (Three Stories. Seriously. :heart:) I have a deep and abiding hope that TPTB will choose to end the series (Later! NOT. NOW.) on a similar plot development that puts House's infarction center stage, especially if new information is revealed — and a new underlying etiology for House's infarction would be perfect — that could shed a different light on either a) why/how House had the infarction in the first place, b) the wisdom of choosing amputation vs. debridement, c) his medication (ab)use or d) the levels of pain he's experienced over time. House having to seriously consider amputation as a consequence of this new medical development (OMG, maybe even have to argue in favor of having it done, against other doctor's wishes?) is also very much on my wishlist. Hugh Laurie's acting makes it so easy to become a total angst!whore. But back to the near future: I'd put imaginary internet money on Wamber being kaput by the end of LTD (and I'm with Chipper: I'd die of shock if she's on the bus). My hope is they give her a fitting send-off, as I'm weirdly crazy fond of CTB despite her throwing a wrench in the hoped-for BGW reveal (though I'd be totally fine if 13 talked Wilson into starting a PPTH Bisexual Support group — though they should really make it LGBTQ, so that Trannie!Nurse could get some much-needed support and screentime). My guess is that Wilson will be the Dumper; I hope the catalyst for the break-up is actual breach of trust, and not just Amber doing something batshit-insane and stalky ("She's certifiable"). I'd be intrigued if she actually somehow bowed out semi-gracefully, but has that ever actually happened in real life (*crickets*), plus Wamber looks rigged for pyrotechnics (Wilson chalk outline, ha!). Besides, I could totally get behind Angry!Shouty!Casual!Wilson. I've been thinking about it and I can't imagine what could be so bad that the friendship could rupture especially if it could survive the Tritter mess. Commence firing :smile: I'm with NightOwl and LMC as far as thinking that for Amber's and House's characterization thus far, them getting together (even for House to make a point) feels six kinds of wrong. BUT that definitely would be something that would severely de-rail even a Tritter-proof relationship, as you said, and if TPTB were going to try pull off something that wackadoo to lead into a season finale, this (somewhat surprising) season would be when they would do it. Frankly, I'm disappointed that House hasn't tried to break up Wamber by getting CTB together with 13. Everybody wins. Or me. I would win.

I don't put a whole lot of stock in the "threatens to change their relationship forever" thingy, because it's one of those vague, make-it- sound-dramatic for the promo type things. I'm guessing the "rift" will simply be a matter of Wilson figuring that House comes in between too many of his relationships and threatening to change that (though I'm sure in an ep or two all will be as it was before). A major character going under the knife is a little more concrete. I don't really consider Amber "major", but I suppose others might. I never considered that the bus passenger and major character going under the knife could be unrelated, so I guess that means Wilson's still an option.
