Kal Penn is playing a young doctor who has a very cool procedure but doesn't know necessarily how to get there. I'm going to go out on a limb here and guess that this is how Chase gets sucked back into PPTH. He's been the "creative one" in the past and I'm betting will likely get the call to help figure out how to get from a to b.

saara_zaara- 08-12-2007

Nice idea, Melly - I like that a lot (plus Kal Penn & JS - ooh, the pretty together! yes, I'm shallow like that)

Ranee- 08-13-2007

http://www.tvweek.com/news/2007/08/house_sopranos_emmys_500pound.php FYI, new nterview with Katie Jacobs - includes comments on the Survivor game - plays out over 9 epidodes, Cuddy supplies the 40 resumes - & new sets.

407- 08-13-2007

9 episodes? Yikes. I don't remember, are there any breaks in between those 9 episodes, or does it just run for 9 consecutive weeks? Just...woah. That's a long time. Over 2 months, at least...Heh. Also, I like new sets. As long as they're not refurbishing the old sets (which, going by the promo pictures, they're not). Continuity is good. But I suppose they need a place that can hold 40 people at a time without getting too crowded. Still, 9 episodes?

Sans Serif- 08-13-2007

If the "Survivor" game is going to be an arc (9 eps is an arc, right?), maybe that means that there won't be a villain/ex-gf arc (Volger, Stacy, Tritter) for S4. House is everyone's favorite villain anyways.

piepeloe- 08-13-2007

Have you seen promo pics I haven't? I only know about those couple from the season premiere 'Alone' and I couldn't really see much of the sets...Though I did scrutinise Wilson's office. Nine eps is a lot, but I think Tritter was 7 and Stacy longer but not consecutive. I know 'Words and Deeds' was the last Tritter ep and that was ep 312, and I'm pretty sure it was in 305 that the whole mess began.

Jouse- 08-13-2007

Tritter showed up at the clinic in Fools for love, 305. Words and Deeds was 311. So 7 eppies. Seems much longer  And KS analysis of House's character triggers my anxiety.

I am the Thread Whisperer.
Have you seen promo pics I haven't? I only know about those couple from the season premiere 'Alone' and I couldn't really see much of the sets...Though I did scrutinise Wilson's office. Pipeloe, if you're addressing 407 saying "I like new sets", I think she just meant she likes the idea of getting new sets in S4 (as mentioned in the Emmy article Ranee posted), not that she's seen any (as in "I like the new sets."). I as excited to see new sets/props/production design as I am to meet the new fellows (Kal Penn! Hooray!). I wonder if we'll see more classroom-type discussion á la Three Stories, with House giving a brief lecture-teacher type of thing. That'd make for teh happy. I'm with everyone a few pages back re: not wanting the new female fellow to be a love interest for House. I'm taking a page from my Doctor Who fandom's approach to new Companions: Thirteen is a Posh Lesbian Ninja until proven otherwise. An KS analysis of House's character triggers my anxiety. Care to expand on that? I'm curious. Hee. Hugh singing You Can't Always Get What You Want just came up on my iTunes. *melt* Also wonder if we'll hear this refrain in ep 1 or 2 of S4 . . . Edited to make post less resemble House Hangman.

piepeloe- 08-13-2007

Eep! Sorry, guess I saw a 'the' where there wasn't one. I hope I didn't come across as rude or anything. I just figured most people here would know about things like new pics etc faster than I would, so it was possible I might have missed something and I asked. I do actually like the idea of new sets, as long as it's somewhat realistic. It's a big hospital, a teaching hospital, but would it have the empty offices needed for 40 people? In fact, now that I think about it, where is the money coming from? Sure, a lot of them will be fired pretty soon, but they still have to be paid...How's House getting this by Cuddy? And I can't believe that they'd all be willing to compete in House's Survivor game.

saara_zaara- 08-13-2007

The money is coming from the donor who liked Cuddy's cleavage (the ep with the laser pen) And more offices, no problem, those monkey types will add another floor, or convert the mysterious underground garage or something ;D (hey, we have appearing & disappearing balconies!)

Sans Serif- 08-13-2007

No sweatsville, Idaho piep, simple misread. Like I said, I'm dying to see new sets too. I guess the money for new sets/the Great Fellow Flood is coming from that stash Cuddy says she started when she hired House, for legal expenses. Even with the Tritter fiasco, he only went to court once. Although really, she should probably use any extra money to raise the salary of the Voldemorts staffing the Rehab clinic. Edited to say I like Saara's idea better. ;)

407- 08-13-2007

I thought you were talking about my 'judging by the promo pictures, they're not redecorating the old offices' comment, pieploe. I just meant that you can see Wilson's office is the same and you can see parts of House office in the background of a couple of the promo pics :D

Jouse- 08-13-2007

And KS analysis of House's character triggers my anxiety. Care to expand on that? I'm curious. It's as if this whole paragraph - The success of "House" is due in large part to the title character. "He's not warm and fuzzy at all. I think it's his irreverence, his sense of humor, and then I think it's also that head writer David Shore is very careful to let you see parts of the character that are vulnerable and wounded," Ms. Jacobs said. "And Hugh Laurie is so talented that, even though he can be saying mean and curmudgeonly things, we see behind his eyes to a wounded soul in there. So he's not as simple as just being nasty and curmudgeonly. He's funny, he's entertaining, he is sexy ... and physically, Hugh has a great sort of masculinity to him, so it's not that he's simple to get. I think the most important thing is the split between his sense of humor and the wounded, everybody-wants-to-repair-House kind of sentiment." - is made for HAM fics. Gary Stu, anyone?

sweet fern- 08-14-2007

Kal Penn is playing a young doctor who has a very cool procedure but doesn't know necessarily how to get there. He would react very differently to House's ideas. He thinks everything is cool and big. I'm going to go out on a limb and admit I'm not even sure what the hell this is supposed to mean. A very cool procedure but doesn't know how to get there???? Procedure? Do they maybe mean he can intuitively arrive at the right answer (diagnosis) but can't defend it? Then why can't they say so? "A very cool procedure" sounds like doing something fancy with a laser scalpel. And a procedure is an it, not a there. Differently? Different from whom? Or what? Is there a typical way everyone else always reacts to House's ideas? "Everything is cool and big"...because he has been practicing medicine in tropical Lilliput???? Where everything is hot and little? WTF????? Or do I just no longer speak English? What? You said I could whine here!

Sans Serif- 08-14-2007

I think the most important thing is the split between his sense of humor and the wounded, everybody-wants-to-repair-House kind of sentiment. I see your point Jouse. The above sentiment in particular is wince-inducing. I swear, my distaste for House repair is a big part of my love for Foreman (huge %age of the fandom's mileage varies, s'okay), despite him being a bastard. And why I'm glad 4man's (possibly) at Mercy and why I want him to show up in S4 some. I'm skeptical about Foreman running his own diagnostics team though, whether it's at PPTH or Mercy; Chase does make the right call more often then him. I assumed that's why House let Chase go but wanted Foreman to stay. In a sense Chase has learned everything he can from House; I'd say he's only lacking in confidence (which he seemed to overcome towards the end of S3, yay). Going along with what Wilson said in Resignation, Foreman still has a lot to learn about Diagnostics and House could make him a better doctor, but Foreman's massive ego won't let him admit that. Right now he's just a hard-ass and Paperwork Commando (see: FtC). Kal Penn is playing a young doctor who has a very cool procedure but doesn't know necessarily how to get there. He would react very differently to House's ideas. He thinks everything is cool and big. I'm going to go out on a limb and admit I'm not even sure what the hell this is supposed to mean. Whew. I thought I was the only one! "Everything is cool and big"...because he has been practicing medicine in tropical Lilliput???? Where everything is hot and little? WTF????? Hee. 8) Maybe Penn's character is going to be in awe of House and, in trying to emulate him, not question any of his House Craziness™, then go over the top in his own diagnoses/methods? . . . Yeah, I got nothing. "Kal Penn is playing a young doctor." Full stop. I'm never going to make it through September. Feed me spoilers (that make a lick of sense) PTB.
