Maybe Wilson will do something worse than witholding sex...
WITHOLDING FOOD!
House will eventually get so hungry he'll cave.
But my vote is ego:
"What's the point of having a brain the size of a planet if you can't torture people with how smart you are."
or maybe he'll say that if House gets it wrong and the patient dies the entire medical community will start laughing at him.
or maybe he just threatens to invite House's parents over?
SaphronGirl- 09-07-2007
I was thinking the same thing this morning: any threat to House's ego (or intellect) is really his Achilles' Heel.
hugeegosorry- 09-08-2007
He probably steals the guitar. It's so prominently displayed in so many of the promos as something that is important to House... that's really the only thing I can think of.
He probably fucks with House by stealing his guitar until he hires a team of people (cause he says that comment about bouncing ideas off the janitor, maybe he thinks he needs a team.)
which brings me to another discussion i'm sure has been had before but where is Wilson's team? I guess you don't need one in cancer, either it is cancer or it isn't. I just answered my own question.
Jouse- 09-08-2007
though if we're really getting Huddy
Nooooo *groans* I was repressing it so well :(
Maybe Wilson will solve the case himself and shock House into hiring :P

So one of the promo photos from the second episode (see the link in the spoilers only thread) shows Buddy Ebsen's photo on a screen behind house. Pure wild guess here, but it'll be in reference to Buddy's medical case in the 1930s, when he was cast* as the Tin Woodman in "The Wizard of Oz," but made it through only a few days of filming before he ended up in the hospital with a severe allergic reaction to the aluminum paste makeup they'd used.
(*Technically he was cast as the scarecrow, and Ray Bolger was to be the Tin Woodman, but Ray Bolger and Buddy discussed it and decided that their dancing styles were more suited to the other characters, since Ray had a more boneless quality to his dance, while Buddy's limbs were stiffer. So they traded. Why yes, I am a classic movie geek, thank you.)

Oooh, Namaste! Awesome Buddy Ebsen info. That would make perfect sense.
Interesting pix. I was looking at the candidates and #2 seems to be front and center alot - I wonder who she is?
And to be completely shallow, Photo #9 has some gorgeous open shirt Hugh Laurie-neck action with just a touch of chest view. Oh you lovely, lovely man.
I shall leave the gutter now.
merlin7- 09-08-2007
Wow..and the ep 2 pics just confirm. I won't be watching House for quite a while. ::Sigh::
Jouse- 09-08-2007
*taking deep breaths* Okay, the fact that the promo pics are Wilson-less doesn't mean he'd hardly appear in eppy #2. After all, it's Doris Egan. She loves Wilson, right? Right?
Namaste- 09-08-2007
I was curious, so I looked. Wilson didn't show up on any of the promo shots for "Son of a Coma Guy," but obviously he was in that episode. And Chase didn't appear in any promo shots for "Half-Wit" or "Airborne," but obviously he had good scenes in those.
So presence or lack of presence in promo photos don't necessarily mean anything.

Namaste, thank you so much for posting the pics & the awsome movie info.
Yes, you're quite right, Chase & Wilson have tended to be absent from promo pics even when they play a major role in an ep. The pics here have got more to do with introducing the new cast - after all there's no Cuddy either in the pics & I can't see why she'd be out of this ep when she's pushing House to hire the team.
Also, from the captions, the newbies even have some names, which I copied over -
Kal Penn is Dr. Lawrence Kutner - candidate #6
Olivia Wilde - #13
Jonathan Sadowski as Mason (#10), Anne Dudek as Amber (#24) and Peter Jacobson as Taub (#39)
Caitlin Dahl and Melinda Dahl - the twins 15A &15 B.
Fiddy, that candidate who's visible a lot is "#13" played by Olivia Wilde. IIRC that interview with DS yesterday says she's the keeper out of all the candidates so far. And don't leave the gutter, I was coming to join you (nice way to walk up this am!)

I do know which one Olivia Wilde is, but I"m specifically commenting on the woman wearing the #2. She's right next to House in a couple of shots. She's got short bangs and a sort of choppy long hair cut. She seems to be talking to House in one of the shots where they are walking down the hall.
And there's plenty of room in this here gutter, c'mon down! :-)
saara_zaara- 09-08-2007
Woops, sorry, misunderstood, fiddy - yeah, for whatever reason she's not identified in the captions. One ep with a couple of scenes wonder, I'm thinking.
ETA - btw folks, is everyone aware that there's an alert function on the threads? We're starting to pick up the pace of spoilers as the new season approaches & if you click on the "watch this topic for replies" link at the bottom of the Spoilers Only thread, the board will email you an alert whenever a new spoiler is posted there.

HA! The Right Stuff! I like that analogy better than survivor. It would be so House to be a fan of (the early) Tom Wolfe (Electric Kool Aid Acid Test). TRS is one of my all-time favorite movies (Yes, I grew up a space geek, with my transistor radio glued to my ear during recess when there was a Gemnini or Apollo Flight)
I hadn't gotten that it was Buddy Ebsen on the overhead! Good catch Namaste. You might be right about the case. So....the newbies appear in episode 2, which means that episode one is a pas de trois. House, Wilson and Cuddy only. I'm going to love this episode.
also, didn't HL say something about the first few scripts being (as well as funny) emotionally compelling? laughing and crying in the same page of dialogue?

I love that, in addition to the professor look that House has adopted with the elbow patches, he's also robbed the nearest race director and stolen all the number bibs from the nearest 10K for his "contestants."
I wonder if he stole the electronic chips as well if he's interested in actually timing them.
And, oh yeah, The Right Stuff is one of my favorite books ever. Lovely title.

I am with you in this. :)
But I noticed that in this photo the hair-patch( or whatever) is quite visible and does not matches well with the rest of his hair. Some of it even peeks out from the front corners. The style and cut are quite different this season atleast from the front.
