Is it too much to hope that from 40 new characters, at least one would be gay?

Add me to the list of people who are nervous about adding new regulars. Wilson doesn't get enough screentime as it is, I can only imagine it getting worse when the ducklings come back and the new ducklings start doing their thing. With the ducklings not working for House and spread out in different departments it will be hard enough to balance everything out without adding new people. Why? Why? Why? Why does David Shore want to hurt me so much? What did I do to him? :crying:

I can't believe they actually don't mind letting people know they don't know where they're going with it all. How is the audience supposed to have faith in them when we're already having our favorites threatened? Whether you're worried about lack of Chase time like me or lack of Wilson time like LMC, we all have pretty much come to the conclusion that the characters we already know and care about will be sacrificed at the alter of this gimmick.

Yeah it appears to be a sucky situation tight now. I really can't believe that he's just so okay with not knowing where this is going but DS and I have always had issues and I'd have no problems with him being "voted off the island." Love NCIS, btw.
I'm just going to try and focus on the premiere with the (possible) H/W B&E and the (possible) Wilson's hotel room stuff.
*goes to happy place which incidentally is filled with H/W stuff*

This is pure speculation but I think they originally wanted to just get rid of the old Ducklings and bring in new fellows. If I were a House writer that's what I would have done. Either you keep everything as it is and 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it', or you make a bold (and IMHO, smart) move and stir things up, but then you go for it. I think they were just afraid fans would get pissed if they'd done that.
I guess we'll have to see what season 4 brings, but now I'm kind of worried (like you) about there being too many characters. So now the duckling-fans will still be disappointed because yeah, their faves will still be there, but they won't get enough screentime, and other fans will be annoyed they never get to learn anything about these new characters because they never get enough screentime.
In a perfect world (where I'm on the House writing staff) the ducklings don't come back, except on occasion as guest stars, for a scene or two, because they'll be working in hospitals nearby and House will want to harrass them for consults, or if they have a case for him. I'd have Chase stay on at PPTH as an intensivist, but he too would only appear once in a while, and be kind of a big brother to the new kids.
I wouldn't worry about the fact that they're admitting that they don't know where they're going with this. It's bad PR, but that's it really. They obviously didn't know what they were doing with the Tritter arc last year either, in fact I'm pretty sure most shows don't work too far ahead. Though it might be a good idea for some of them. And even if they did, something like this arc would hardly show up on a major plotoutline for the entire series. I don't think it will matter much for House's character development if it's nr6 that wins or nr9...The fellows are the people that he both teaches and learns from, so they're important, but it doesn't really matter who they are.
Off-topic: NCIS! I'm just discovering that show! Too bad the fandom seems kind of deserted.

Hey, maybe if they don't know where this is going they'll ultimately decide not to add any regulars, wishful thinking of course but still.

I'm actually thrilled to learn TPTB don't know where they're going with the season yet. It makes me hopeful, maybe they're lurking around the fandom and gathering fans reactions to the spoilers. So, just in case..
Dear House influentials! We understand you're trying to shake things up and that's fine, but whatever you do,please maintain maximum House+Wilson screen time!!!! Thank you.

I know and it bothers me. I'm extremely worried that the addition of those new people will hurt the amount of screentime of the ones already suffering of lack of screentime. I'm very worried about Wilson time, I know it's probably exactly what RSL wants, but that doesn't mean I have to like it lol.

Actually, I'll be a happy fan if they get rid of Cameron and Foreman. Forever!
The only duckling I want to see again is Chase. I'd like to see the old, awesome Cuddy, too!
I hope that the new ones will bring the funny and that Wilson time will grow.
I don't want impossible things, do I?

I'm more worried about Wilson's screentime than anything else.
Well, I'm also kind of worried about this brown haired new duckling that House can't figure out. I'm getting bad vibes from her already.

Hey, how'd you get into my head?

I think they're going to wind up jerking us all around. They manage to keep the Original Recipe Duckling fans around by dangling them in front of us. They inundate us with 40 new flimsy characters (and it's safe to assume that when we have so many questions about CCF after three years these new Peeps will be walking enigmas). If you've got a house full of characters, none of them have to have much depth because they can all be a walking single personality trait.
I hope it all blows up in their faces if that's how little they respect the audience that put them there. They're not infallible. We're not going to love anything they do just because they do it. At the risk of getting things thrown at me for stating an upopular belief, the supporting cast plays a huge role in keeping the viewers tuning in. I love Hugh Laurie, but he can't do it alone--and Wilson and Cuddy are not the only supporing cast members who matter. The show works with the six people they have.

I mostly agree. HL can't do it alone and though he is amazingly talented and deserves all the credit and recognition he gets I wouldn't watch it if he was just bouncing off random people who are completely one dimensional. I do think that the ducklings matter but to me it doesn't have to be those specific ducklings. What they represent in his life could easily be replaced by anyone, I know that this is an unpopular opinion, so please don't throw things. The three of them work in his life as a unit, Cuddy and Wilson to me are a more specific and important part of who he is than the ducklings.
But I also really liked the fact that it was a small cast because we got real time to get to know everyone and I don't think we'll get the screentime to get to know or care about anyone new because I just don't see how they can balance everyone.
One note on the dark haired woman that he can't figure out, is it just me or does that just sound like a new Cameron? Ugh. :x
extra_cat- 08-20-2007
Yep, it sounds like the new Cameron. They had to trade her in for a younger model.
See, I got from the first two seasons that Wilson and Cuddy played a tertiary role. House was primary, Ducklings secondary, and then Wilson and Cuddy because they were on the outskirts of what was going on. House works most closely with his team. So if that's these new people, then... bleh. I just don't care about them. I don't even want to attempt to care about the new characters. I just want them to go away and I haven't even seen them yet! Why invest in new characters if they're just going to be disposable?
