So House will be in prison for a couple of months. I thought he would have been there for a year, since that was the time jump.
So curious about his experience in prison. I don't think it will be like Mayfield where he almost seemed top dog, so to speak. I wonder if he will have a cell mate.
I am glad we are going back to focusing more on House's character. It always needs to focus on him.
What do you think Shore meant about a shift of power from House to other characters? Think it just means the new DOM, or will there be a power shift on the team as well? At least for a while when he first gets back to PPTH, will House find himself deferring himself in the team dynamic because of his jail stint?

I wonder if House can practice any medicine in prison, or if he had his license revoked again after his stint car-crashing-cough* killing *attempt. Ok- he didnt mean it, yeah right!

I hope that doesn't refer to a shift in focus* from* House. We've already seen his authority issues played out a thousand ways from Sunday, so I'll be disappointed if we are back to the same employee-boss conflicts, just with a new boss.
I hope it addresses season 7 -- when he seemed almost dissociated from his medical gifts, uninvolved in the process, willing to compromise or even sacrifice it for something (or someone) else, getting distracted by other things, feeling "numb", etc -- and comes full circle back to the House of season 2, who was confident and obsessively focussed.
I really really don't want Wilson as the new DoM, but no one else is a dealbreaker for me.

I saw the first S8 promo tonight. House is not going to have it easy in prison.
I wonder if some of the prisoners are going to try to shake him down for his medicine. Or maybe after learning he is a doctor, they pressure him to volunteer or work in the medical ward to steal pills.

Ergo the title: 20 Vicodins?

WOW! The promo looks great.
At first I felt indifferent towards the idea of House in Jail but after watching the promo I am all Inn. I was hurting physically while seeing how House has been thrown to the wall of the prison cell. I feel really sorry for Hugh Laurie because it must hurt him, too.
Does anybody know the name of the song, which has been used in this promo?
jazz1000- 08-25-2011
I just had an idea. Do you think the "connection" with the prison doctor is that she is willing to write his Vicodin prescriptions? Wilson already said he will fight House on using him to get his drug of choice. Addicts do nice things for the people willing to feed their addiction. Total speculation. LOL!
Vicodin- 08-26-2011
@jazz1000: First and foremost House is a pain patient, who depends on pain medication.
That he became addicted to his pain medicine is a sad side effect.
He’s not a drug addict from the street with drug seeking behaviour. This assumption has started the whole mess, because it resulted in the delayed diagnosis and therefore to Houses chronic pain and his need for pain killers.
By the way, @ddelaneyjr on Twitter http://twitter.com/#!/ddelaneyjr has found the song from the first House 8.01 promo!
@Hughfan70 @HFAN1982 the tune is "down to the river" by The Cadillac Black. unreleased as of yet, here it is live tinyurl.com/3s2q4x4

Vicodin,
Drug addiction is a disease that really makes no distinction as to how you got there. I prescribe opiates, so I know. It is heart breaking and maddening no matter how you get there. It ruins lives. I have lurked on this board a long time and know this is a sore point to some. I did not post to get into that discussion. The repeated word "connection" was why I was posting. It is an odd word choice to me. I was just throwing out a thought I had that might make sense of it. Peace.

jazz, what if the connection is similar to what you say but for a different reason? What if other prisoners do try to take his medicine? Or what if they try to force him to get them a stash? Now, that would be hard for him to do that. Wht if the prison doctor helps him out of this predicament in some way? What if she some how supports him or helps him survive this situation?
what do you think?

Filmlover,
All are wonderful possibilities. I wish Season 8 would start NOW so we can find out where the writers are going with this.

I was wondering why House is wearing the yellow jumpsuit in the one scene of the promo. Somewhere I read that means he is in solitary. If that's right, he must get in trouble with the prison authorities. Poor House, not in a happy place. :(
filmlover- 08-26-2011
I too wondered if the yellow jumpsuit meant solitary confinement.
It will be interesting seeing him in a situation where he isn't the big man on campus. Even in Mayfield he still came across as very alpha, you know?

I asked a friend who used to work in Fl prisons, he explained basically the yellow jumpsuits are meant fr prisoners with certain privileges or skills and good behavior. After watching the promo, don't know, but since House is a dr, my main concern is the brawl with the other prisoners.
