I'm so curious about next week's episode, and the promo didn't help much ;).
Somehow I doubt we'll get a suicidal House on a self-destructive drug binge, because it seems so obvious (also what's up with the smile while he's standing on the railing?) so it'll probably turn out ot be something else?
Or maybe he's just doing one big drug binge until his Vicodin reserves are exhausted?
That promo confuses me too. House seems to be waking up in a hotel - what happened to his apartment? Is he at an out-of-town job interview, or going to drug counseling?
I don't think we'll see him spiraling out of control just yet.

Did everyone notice the letter that Taub was mailing? It was addressed to the City of Trenton. We know that House was going to do a roadtrip to Trenton. Is that where he is thinking of getting his drugs? If he goes back on them, and I think he will, where will he get them? Certainly Wilson isn't going to prescribe them and we know Cuddy won't either but House is going to need them now more than ever.
Also from the promo, Wilson is standing outside while House is on the ledge. What makes House turn back around?
I fear House is going to backslide but I hope he has the strength to pull himself out of it and do it on his own.
I suspect that initially House will be in denial and pretend like he's better off without Cuddy (and possibly: supposedly happier to be doing drugs), which would be in character and fine by me, but I'm kind of worried that following this they'll have House come up with some embarrassing and futile stunts to win Cuddy back.
Based on what I see in the promo pics for episode 17, I think you might be right. Oh vey.

I've also been wondering about the scene of House standing on the railing. Since we all know he isn't going to jump, something pulls him back.
It reminds me of Hugh's comment about House oin the ledge and he will either have to jump off or turn around and go back inside. So, maybe this is another kick that he needs to realize this isn't how he wants to live his life numb on drugs. When he realizes this he gets off by himself.
Why is Cuddy's mom showing up? Just to comfort her daughter?

Was wondering the same thing. I hope it isn't to do some bitch slapping to House as I think he already got it from Cuddy.

There is going to be a wedding so perhaps it is Mama Cuddy that is getting married.

Jesus, GY's tweets are so childish. That's not even funny or teasing anymore, it's just silly and quite frankly, pathetic.
Are those even real? They made me ashamed for reading them in the first place ;).
I fear House is going to backslide but I hope he has the strength to pull himself out of it and do it on his own.
If he does, I wonder if there will be a key moment, something that triggers and gives him the strength and ability to overcome his issues?
I don't know if I would find it believable if he just wakes up one morning and decides to clean up his act. That kind of thing might happen in real life, but I don't think it's something that works in fiction and is satisfying to watch. I will need a good reason for House to stay off the drugs, because right now it's hard to see the downside, to quote House himself.
I felt the same way about 'Help me'. Some people mentioned back then that they wanted House to put the drugs back of his own accord, but I felt like that wouldn't have made sense, not with everything that had happened and with his state of mind throughout the last episodes of season 6.
Do you think Wilson will ask House to move back in with him?
Maybe House is selling his apartment in 7x17?

He may but I don't think they will ultimately live together again.

Ok, so maybe in 7x16 House comes to work and takes on a new case, but he's obviously on Vicodin and Cuddy confronts him about it and tells him that she can't allow him to practice under the influence of narcotics, not after his hallucinations etc., and that he either has to get clean or don't come to work at all.
So House defiantly skips work and goes on a drug binge. With a possible suicidal interlude, if that scene from the promo is anything to go by (but maybe he's just screwing with Wilson or just enjoying the rush he's feeling while standing on the banister, in search of another high...?).
Until Wilson talks some sense into him and convinces him to come back, or maybe he simply runs out of drugs, or maybe House solves the POTW case from a distance and realises that he still has something to live for/be clean for, his work (he may even have his epiphany about the POTW the moment he's standing on that banister, and that's what makes him step down?). Or maybe the patient's condition gets so bad that Cuddy begs House to come back to work?

It's not like the "fuck you!" tweets with which various House/Cuddy fans reacted to last night's episode are not even more pathetic, (or childish). How is he supposed to react to those, "Oh, no! I'm sorry, I will get them back together ASAP because you're so mad at me"? I think teasing is less pathetic than retaliation with a "No, fuck you!". The tweets in which he has been more sarcastic have been those in response to already hostile or sarcastic tweets thrown his way (my favorites= "Remember that you eat and live thanks to me!").
There is going to be a wedding so perhaps it is Mama Cuddy that is getting married.
I think this might be possible (wasn't she having an affair with someone?). Or it will be one of the explanations for what 13's been doing during her absence, maybe she met someone.

The thing is, those rude and childish tweets from a few disgruntled fans represent only their small minds. GY's snide and supercilious comments unfortunately come from a major player in the "House" front office. Very disappointing, I find, that TPTB allow their show to be represented by this kind of communication. The classy response to those silly insults would have been silence.

I'll reply in the Media thread.

Exactly.
I found it childish that he would lower himself to even respond to those tweets and even worse, retaliate in a manner that isn't just "punishing" the rude part of the fandom, but also all those who are supportive and polite. He's basically twisting the knife and it looks like he's desperate to rile people up < pathetic imo.
The silly part to me is that he's still harping on about those scenes at the beach, I mean come on  can't he come up with something more original and witty?
Gatuna- 03-08-2011

And how is he "punishing the polite and supportive" ones?

Those promo pics make me think House is going to marry someone. We have Wilson trying to talk House out of making a mistake and then a picture of Cuddy and Wilson at an 'event'. She's looking condescending and Wilson looks like he's thinking 'Man, what a disaster.' I wouldn't be at all surprised to see that House is going to 'show' Cuddy by marrying some hooker or something.
Probably won't happen. I'm lousy at guessing these things.

Oh god, please no. I hate it when they do over the top stuff like that, I much prefer the withdrawn, introverted version of House who expresses his inner grief through sarcasm and vitriol.
