I just hope this companion of Wilson's isn't a new love interest, because it would be interesting to see Wilson with a new(old) friend.

My interpretation of Shore's comments about a possible end of the House/Cuddy relationship is that he is creating for the viewers the same clouded uncertainty and doubt that plagues House at this time. By definition, neither House nor Cuddy can be sure that their romance will endure. House, in particular, is haunted by long-standing doubts about his ability to give and receive love, about whether he deserves to be loved at all. I think that Cuddy has similar uncertainties about her ability to maintain a loving relationship, although we have only gotten a few hints about her personal insecurities and missteps.
So I think that Shore wants us to experience the ups and downs of their relationship in real time, just as they do. We don't know if they will fail because they don't know it either. Every jarring note sends a shudder through the viewers just as it scares House.
This sturcture fits with the brilliant and painful way that the show twisted our emotions in the two-part finale to season five. We experienced with House his exhilaration and euphoria when he believed that he had beaten the drug addiction and started a romance with Cuddy. We experienced the terrifying emotional downfall when we discovered, just when House did, that his happiness was an hallucination.
I think that Shore wants us on that real-time rollercoaster with House, jangling and juddering along the bumpy road to an end we cannot foresee. This is how it is working on me anyway: I am unsettled, exhuberant, and wary all at the same time.

Could be a pet, too. Or, for the sake of drama, alcohol.

I can't believe I am watching almost breathlessly a show that has bothered me since the third season : I have many, many concerns with it, I am almost all the times disagreeing with the directions it takes, and yet I can't stop watching...
I have the exact same problem! I need help!
My first thought has also been a pet for Wilson ;)

Or he's seeing a therapist.

I just read a (crack) fic where it turned out Wilson had sex with Mama Cuddy. Not saying that's what it is, or that's what I want it to be, but the idea is hilarious.

They say companion. Unless they go for angst again, a pet is my first choice.

Now I'll be so disapppointed when it's something else, because nothing can compete with that ;).

I hope you are right. But I can't help remembering that Shore apologized after the season 5 finale, and seemed genuinely surprised at the amount of anger of people feeling they have been jerked around. So perhaps he is giving us a head start on more deceptions.
Right now, I am only feeling discouraged. Mostly, I don't want more angst and pain for House. I may quit after a House/Cuddy breakup, because it seems rather contrived. If I don't believe it any more, or enjoy watching, then why watch?
But at the same time, I have invested now almost 7 years in that show, which is still the only one I watch. I want to know how it will end! (I hope it will not be a hasty ending due to contracts, or actors wanting off. I am afraid that's why they are rewriting the end of the season, and one more epi.)

KT Tunstall----SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEE. Love her.
As long as Wilson's new companion isn't his hand, I am cool with whoever or whatever it is. A talking parrot would be kind of cool. I am sure he is feeling lonely.
I refuse to go in the area of a House/Cuddy breakup. I will forever live in denial even if it happens but for now, I don't see it happening.

Just watched the new clips and I have to admit that my anticipation of this episode definitely went up. (Also that House looks slightly demented in a lab coat.)
And just when was all excited, I realized it wouldn't air until February. Dangit, show!
Anonyme- 01-28-2011
Does anyone else think that they could add this last epi to use the material from the beach scenes, among other things? If they changed the airing dates for 713 to 711, it looks like the whole story is not fixed yet? I am really curious...
Or are they adding a last one, to make some kind of proper end in case they are not renewed?

They may have been asked by Fox to switch to the more 'dramatic' episode in the hope of keeping the ratings boosted after another break.

I wonder how the casual viewers (which obviously make the biggest part of the audience) can keep up with these airing schedules...
Not that it is better in France : when they (finally) show us a season, they show two news episodes the same evening, followed by an old one ( a random one, I must add), so it lasts three months, at best.
And we still haven't seen season 6.... :x
Those wedding bells spoilers are driving me insane...

Statistically I'd have to go with Wilson ;).
The clips for next episode look really good, it's nice to see House's true self in his interactions with Cuddy's mom and I'm actually looking forward to learning more about the relationship between Arlene, Cuddy and her sister.
ETA: Also, hee at the team's reaction when House tells them about drugging Arlene, he actually still manages to "impress" them with some of his stunts (and is that amusement that I see on Foreman's face...?).
