Namaste- 10-27-2007

Personally I don't think the supposed distance is because of the "I love you". I guess Wilson is still angry about the knife thing and the new obsession House seems to have with the after life. Can you blame him? Has there actually been "distance" between them? Did I miss a spoiler or something? Or is that speculation because there was only one scene with them this week (in which I didn't see any distance, personally).

Lully- 10-27-2007

That's why I said "supposed"... I don't see distance either, but for the sake of speculation, if there's distance I'd guess it would be because the knife incident.

MaryIsobel- 10-27-2007

I don't think it's a spoiler. This is just speculation and it's not only about hoyay. I'm sorry. I don't understand what you mean by this. I don't actually think the "I love you" is responsible for the assumed distancing--all I meant to say was I think that is just as likely (or, to me, more likely) an explanation as the contortions of "he loves him so much he has to distance himself so it won't hurt devastatingly when he finally loses him" scenario others were suggesting. Not really spoiler speculation, no, but it's no more OT than the scenario I was responding to.

Lully- 10-27-2007

Ok, let me try again... The "supposed" distance it's not based on any spoiler (at least that I'm aware) it's just speculation, pure and simple. Sorry if I misunderstood your first post, I thought you're asking if "the distance" was a spoiler or a hoyay speculation. :)

As one who doesn't see House/Wilson as a "ship," I also wonder whether if all the threads aren't hoyay threads in disguise (or drag). I'd like to address this concern. It's no secret that HHoW was started mostly by refugees of TWOP's HoYay thread. Therefore, yes, this is HoYay friendly place. We also strive to be a HetYay friendly place and a NoShip friendly place. Boards and discussions are what you make them. All opinions count. Since there are alot of HoYayers who feel comfortable on this board (being ghettoized in other places), their opinions will be in the general threads. That doesn't make the threads all HoYay threads in drag. Just makes threads with lots of posters who see the show through slash goggles, that's all. Again, we welcome what everyone brings to the table and encourage you all to post more of your unique take on the show no matter who you ship or don't ship. Love, Fiddy

As one who doesn't see House/Wilson as a "ship," I also wonder whether if all the threads aren't hoyay threads in disguise (or drag). I saw the "i love you" as a colloquiolism much like if someone brought me a ginger ice cream from my favorite ice cream shop just when I was hankerin' for something spicy, sweet and cold to eat. I would likely say to them: I love you. It wouldn't mean I want to jump their bones (unless it was sasdad, whose bones I always like to jump.) Wading in here without actually reading any of the spoilers is difficult, but I'd like to add my 2 cents on this subject. I love HoYay -- when I'm reading fan fiction. But as far as the program goes, I'm an anti-shipper. I can tolerate the way Chase/Cameron has played out (barely -- and I would have preferred it to have been left as as a drug-induced one night stand) but I honestly can't see ANY romantic liaison between the main characters as viable. I like the sexual tension, but we interact with these people in their workplace. I don't need (or particularly want) to see any of these characters having a functional social life. When House said "I love you" I laughed. I saw it the way you did. But I also knew that it was included by TPTB to make they HoYayers happy. It would be naive to expect them not to be thrilled. That leaves us with the question "is HoYay over-represented at HHOW?" Probably. HoYayers have not felt welcome on many fora and they are here. Their opinions about the show don't change when they post in the episode or character threads. And telling them "only think about House and Wilson as a couple when you're posting in the HoYay thread" is not a reasonable or realistic solution. Instead I think the answer is to encourage more non-HoYayers to join HHOW so that the opinions balance out. I now return you to your regularly scheduled spoilers.

From the Ugly summary: Meanwhile, House finds himself distracted by several of the candidates vying for a spot on his team, and he questions his motives for having chosen them in the “Ugly” episode of HOUSE So... uhm... since a lot of episode titles have multiple meanings, I'm getting out of this, that House questions his motives for hiring someone for not being ugly? I know a lot of you are already royally annoyed with 13 for being pretty and acting mysterious and all that. So I can only apologize for bringing this up. Are they really planning on having House wonder if he only (once again) hired a fellow for her looks? Of course it could be the opposite but I don't consider Taub or Kutner to be all that ugly, and no matter how much one hates 13, she isn't either. I'm just wondering where they are going with this, because I still have faith in the wirters (which may be unwarranted) and can't believe it's as simple as that. ETA: housedaily has the three promos from "Ugly" that were linked to in the spoiler thread now in high resolution.

I'm curious to know who's playing the over the hill rock star in Games. With House's love of music, especially rock music, this could be a really fun episode, so I hope it's someone good for HL to play off of. Also, noticed in the episode summary for Ugly there is a character named "Jenny", and one that says father. I looked up the actress on imdb and she's a kid, so I'm very much hoping this means clinic duty for House which I've so desperately missed. And also because I love his interactions with kids.

saara_zaara- 10-27-2007

Are they really planning on having House wonder if he only (once again) hired a fellow for her looks? I'm wondering if that isn't directed to the Michael Michelle character. We knows she's withholding info on the PotW in the CIA ep (in Shore-speak, that makes her mysterious), she's pretty & he invites her. We don't know if she accepts, but I'm guessing that the follow up ep has her visiting PPTH to scope out the situation & House is now wondering why he invited her. As is maybe Cuddy, Wilson, etc etc About Chase & Cameron, well its nice they get a mention, particularly Chase - I can think of lots of stuff for them to be embarrassed/uncomfortable about if interviewed. Starting with - why are they still at PPTH? then the closet!sex & sleep lab sex episodes. Chase getting punched by House. Rowan's death. Ezra's death. House's run in with Tritter. Ditto re Vogler. The list is endless. I do find it odd that none of the NKotB are mentioned in that press release, though.

I'm almost always wrong when I speculate, but the first thing that came to my mind was that this could be a reference to the candidates personalities rather than their looks. Wilson predicted that that House would wind up hiring people that he didn't like, so far Amber, Taub, and even Kutner have displayed some pretty ugly personality characteristics.

Those theories make a lot of sense. Thanks, guys. I was taking 'ugly' literal and didn't even think of the CIA woman. I guess I thought that House only offered her a position and didn't actually hire her. We'll see. From the summaries I don't know which one to look forward to most... "Games" for all the musical potential, or "You don't want to know". It can't be too long before we find out who plays the rock star, iamdaffodils. The press release including guest stars should come out pretty soon. I can't wait to find out. But I guess it won't be anyone big, because surely then it would have been announced or leaked or come out some other way. Can anyone remember how long before "Half-Wit" we knew that Dave Matthews was in it?

Just what I was thinking melly. Although I don't see House thinking much of any of the candidates either the ones that have already been dismissed or the ones remaining. The exception of course being Henry who he obviously really liked (another strike against him). But if this is the way House is operating I think Cole and Brennan are next because House may grudgingly admire the Stalwart Mormon Dad and the DWOB guy now seemingly willing to give that up to settle down with his fiancé. It’s harder to say with CTB. House seems to appreciate her cunning and her outsider status from all of the other competitors. That could cost her right there. We don’t know all that much about the 3 we think will remain 13, Taub & Kutner, probably because if they stay to the end of the competition and maybe beyond we’ll have more time to learn about them

The list is endless. The episode description seems pretty clear the documentary crew is there because of the patient. A documentary film crew is chronicling a teenager with a major facial deformity who opts to undergo a dramatic reconstructive procedure. In that case, I don't see any reason why Chase & Cameron's past adventures would come up. They might just be self-conscious being filmed as a couple at work or talking about House or doing their new jobs.

The board may have been started by HoYayers, but they've welcomed everyone with open arms. I don't think of this as House/Wilson board. I think of it as the best place to discuss the show, no matter what your bias is. I'm amused by HoYay, but I don't really ship H/W on the show or in fan fiction. I'm not offended by the ship and actually prefer H/W to House/Cameron or House/Most Anybody Else, but when it comes down to it, I'm a House/Nobody shipper. Everyone is going to interpret the show and the spoilers through their own bias. I'm a Chase fan, so I'm thrilled the new spoiler mentions Chase since he hasn't had 5 minutes of screentime all season long. I like Chase and Cameron as a couple, so I'm glad it looks like they may actually have a scene together. I don't feel like I can't express my Chase Love here. Anyone who wants to express themselves here can do so. They may not be met with unanimous agreement, but no one is no matter what aspect of the show/characters they are discussing.

DIY Sheep- 10-27-2007

Personally I think Wilson's distance has more to do with RSL's latest play, than anything House said - but House is like a good piece of abstract art - some see the underlying metaphor of extistence and others see goopy paint swirls. Personally I am never going to look at a Jackson Pollock again after I found out he painted with his willy. I agree that House reconsidering his choices is more a reference to character, but I'm not sure if it is the potential fellow's characters - they all seem quite nice-ish (except BBC - who is just so evily cool), but House has put them in a very ugly situation... a situation so ugly that someone died because of it. And they all had to become ugly people to keep playing the game. Is House Survivor a good way to gage if someone is a good doctor to hire? I suppose it is no worse than a phone call, a criminal record and a piece of art? And Am I going nuts (don't answer that), but wasn't blonde bitchy chick also on Boston Legal? I recognised the odd hair - it makes her look like that fake alien from Mars Attacks. But interestingly enough as House whittles them down I am starting to like the PFs less and less. What I liked about them was how they bounced off each other. I hope with Foreman in the mix we should have a good bit of bouncing. Wouldn't it be great if they all hated him.
